We stopped by tonight to try the food on a weekday when it wouldn't be crowded and the staff of a new place would not be stressed preparing and serving food. That being said the food was, at best, not very good. There is a very limited menu. The queso was bland and the chips tasted like bad bean based chips. We had a vegi-burger that was mush and kind of gross. The BBQ chicken sandwich is made to be a pulled pork sandwich. It is extremely bland and just doesn't work. Also, the food is very expensive. Seems like it might be a good place to hang out, listen to a band, and have a beer. The one suggestion we have is you need to eat somewhere else before you get there. read more

Ideally located for those who don't wish to venture downtown. It's a great spot to have a cold drink with an incredible outdoor view. The staff is incredibly friendly and they are pretty quick at keeping your glass full. It's an incredible dance floor and they are starting to fill the schedule with great local bands. The stage is in a corner of the place so one can still have a conversation elsewhere indoors. This place fills a void for the Kyle and Buda area. Well I'm sure this is good for a concert venue but lacks it big time if you go to see a western band and the floor is so sticky you can't dance. We have tried on numerous occasions but the same sticky floor. I was told that the floor is cleaned once a month! No wonder. Good burgers though. read more

Been here a few times now. Really had high hopes for a place in Buda that is fun. Sadly what I thought would be a fun place to bring my adult friends has turned into a nighttime child care center. Kids are every where! I keep trying to go there, but when there's are more people UNDER 21 there than over, it's no longer a place for date night or the place to bring your group of friends for a night of ADULT fun. Tripping over teenagers and toddlers at a drinking establishment just seems weird and is no fun. The food is sub par. The drinks are expensive. The bands are good and the overall place has potential to be awesome.....but a playscape? What are they trying to be? Very confused. read more

I have been to this fantastic venue several times from big concerts to weeknight girls nights. I always have an amazing time here. The staff and management have all been very friendly. They all go above and beyond for their customers. The list of events is always something to look forward to and the actual grounds are perfect for large concerts or small events. The atmosphere here is amazing including fire pits outside, huge patio, outdoor and indoor bars, BBQ food truck that is awesome, LIVE music Thursday-saturday, a kitchen inside I had the wings, burger, chicken sandwich, chips and queso that was all really good, my favorite beer on tap austin East Cider, plenty of TV's I was there to watch NFL, played pool and buck hunter and last but not least it was family friendly my daughter had games like connect 4, mega Jenga and bags we all played together. If I could put no stars I would! First of all I am a proud member of a local motorcycle "club". We are law abiding, tax paying, citizens of this great state. Several of us chose to leave the ROT rally in Austin this weekend to go see Jackle. We planned on seeing ZZ Top at the rally but had a few friends at Bucks so we decided to take the long ride down. Upon arrival we were IMMEDIATELY turned away at the door. They said they didn't allow "gangs". They offered to put our vests behind the bar for "safe keeping" and allow entry. However, no one is taking our colors and putting them anywhere. They mean the world to me and I wouldn't give them up to anyone. So we were asked to leave and we did. My argument is, like my club president says, "we are the same people in or out of our vest". The motorcycle clubs in our area do more for the people of this great state in a year than most citizens do in their lifetime. We are good people. While folks like Bucks backyard turn us away, there are still good people and good establishments. Bucks just isn't one of them. We will continue to spread love, kindness and respect to those that deserve it. These people do not. I will never show my face at this establishment and I will make sure that all of my friends, club brothers, austin motorcycle community and family do not either. So, let me start with, I LOVE this venue! It's an awesome bar with an awesome outside bar, patio, whole stinkin field! Lol However we went to Kevin Fowler Friday night, he was GREAT! We don't get out much but when I got to the bar I asked a guy, tall, clean face, if he could make me a skinny margarita. He looked at me like I was a jack ass. Proceeded to say he could make me a regular one. THEN I heard him say to another bartender while he was shaking it up "this bitch asked me for a skinny margarita." WOW such a nice guy. I'd love to point him out. However a sweet girl at other end of bar did her best to try and make one. Sorry I asked. Chili's can make a skinny margarita I thought surely a bar could. It's 2019. Such potential!!! I was super excited when I saw this place was opening. The location on Onion Creek is amazing and they have done a great job with the back deck and everything. I went here on a Saturday 2 weeks ago for lunch and brought my pup. It wasn't very busy yet but it was difficult to track down a server. We got drinks and menu's from the bar and then waited for a while for someone to take our order. We were given a buzzer like most places use for seating but told our food would be brought to us? A little strange. Our food was pretty good, I enjoyed my veggie burger but the fries were not very good. My husband had soft tacos which he liked but the beans and rice sides were hard and inedible. I think they would do better if they just had everyone order at the bar and pick up food at the bar! It is that kind of space- a game room, large porch, huge lawn. I think with some tweaks this place could be freaking awesome. I hope they can figure it out. read more

Went to Bucks Backyard for Taco Tuesday and we ended up with grilled chicken- which was very good. Staff was friendly and accommodating, good sense of humor. Even met the owner/operator who took time out to chat. I would have given five stars but heck, we've only been there once! Looking forward to another visit, maybe for some of the music. read more

Attended the Cory Morrow concert tonight with some friends, as we know one of the band members. Concert didn't start until 1030p so we arrived around 930p to have some drinks and hang around. As we pull in, the parking lot is full so the attendant diverts us back down the road for additional parking. We notice an $8 dollars for parking sign which is completely ridiculous in my opinion. I mean isn't it enough we bought tickets to come and attend a concert at a place it takes 15-20 min just to get one drink at a bar? Why are you punishing the customer for there not being a large enough parking lot in front of this establishment? Turns out my girlfriend's sister noted earlier that parking was $4... I just think it's absurd that we need to pay a fee to park in the back of the building just because you decided to hold an event where your venue doesn't have sufficient enough parking out front. Safe to say last time I go to Bucks Backyard. On top of that the Pop A Shot basketball game is defective. Says .25 and it took my whole dollar...frfr? Come on bruh. I know I beat the high score of 101 too but it only counted 26, thought I'd put that out there. Then people started throwing around these inflated Dos Equis cans in the crowd and people were getting hit in the head. There was this young disabled gentleman in the front enjoying the concert who got pegged a couple of times which is crazy. Just unsafe. Then when we closed out our tab, my girlfriend asked the bartender if she could close her tab and instead of doing the normal people thing (having simple communication skills) he just stared at her and there was this awkward silence and he finally says "I don't know your last name" in a rude, demeaning tone. Come on man, all you have to say is sure what's the name like 99.9% of bartenders in that situation. I know thats all probably petty but well..if I am wrong for being petty about being unnecessarily charged for parking and the well being of disabled individuals and having common people skills..Well, I don't want to be right. I didn't give it a one star bc they have this waitress there who reminded us of Kelly Ripa and she was cool. read more

We got there early (5 ish) on a Saturday. We had the burgers and fries and they were surprisingly pretty good. It's a huge place with lots of outdoor seating with heaters for chilly nights. Service is so slow here. Love the idea of a music venue in Buda. The concept is good, however there isn't much of s feel to Bucks. Can get better, less expensive drinks at many other bars locally. Music talent they bring in is probably the only reason I gave it a 2 stars vs a 1 Star. It could be such a good place if they had a staff that cared. As far as the food.....it's bar food. What else an be said. They should focus on creating a good feeling instead of over charging for drinks and forgetting about their customers drink orders. read more

Terrible service, couldn't get a cold beer to save my life!!!! There is nothing worse than trying to finish your meal with nothing to drink, until you get the bill!!!! We were overcharged on our bill. When we questioned our bill with the waitress she came back with bar manager and who asked us if we were just trying to make the bill Cheaper!!!!!! The nerve!!! Really wanted to like this place since we believe in supporting local businesses, but...after two visits we find that the kinks are still being worked out; seemingly untrained waitstaff, mediocre food, cigarette and cigar smoke from pool players wafting out to tables. I added a star because manager did comp part of our meal ( waitress did not write down our order, so after a long wait, what we got was not what we ordered). Has the potential to be such a cool spot. Hopefully they continue to book concerts similar to what nutty brown was doing. The service is not the best. The drinks at this place are pretty expensive for being a metal building bar in the middle of nowhere. The vibe at the bar is weird. Same experience as below on the wings. Tiny little hummingbird wings. Manager did remove them from bill and told us Friday they have a new supplier. Will try again after those come in. Flavor was great just no meat. Drinks are pricy for this area ($7 for Single Jameson on rocks). Great atmosphere but they need to get it squared away food and drink ways. Great bar staff and great service! If you are looking for something to do in south Austin/Buda/Kyle This place has it all. Food, libations, live music, dancing, pool tables, games washers, corn hole, outside patio/deck, playscape for kids, Tv's, and fire pits. They are family friendly and pet friendly. They switch to 21 and up at 10pm if kids aren't your thing. This is my new go to spot for a night out or for a quick burger and a beer. Definitely a must if you live in the area. read more

Nice addition to Buda but needs some work. On the positive side nice property, adult games, and plenty of parking. But...bartenders not very friendly and feels like drinking in a shed. Which is not always a bad thing. But the biggest disappointment is the prices. $9 for a watered down well Moscow Mule. Hello this is not downtown Austin. If you are going to charge those prices at least list them on the menu. I wish them well but do not plan to visit again anytime soon. read more
