The Iron Goddess Oolong milk tea is one of the best milk teas I have ever tasted, and I have tried many, many milk teas in my life. The signature black milk tea is also delicious. Boba pearls are a little smaller than other places but the chewiness is good and the boba is not too sweet. I get my milk tea at 25% sweetness which is perfect at Bubble U. I would rank Bubble U's milk teas as being one of the top 3 milk teas I've ever tasted. It's on par with milk tea from the homeland (Taiwan) itself. read more

There are so many amazing bubble tea shops in California, however, Bubble U really stands out. As much as I do like bubble tea in NorCal, my absolute favorite spot just happens to be in Los Angeles. They do non-dairy milk, they have many easy sugar options such as a quarter sweet or half sweet (it's so great that customers can get a dessert that isn't too sweet - I like my desserts mildly sweet like most Asians do - I'm so not a fan of overly sweet dessert, a la Cheesecake Factory), and the service is top-notch. Their menu looked super fun with so many options so my friend and I decided to try it out. I got the iced coffee tiramisu drink. They said I couldn't get toppings but I decided to try it anyway. If you've had the Kopiko coffee flavored candy before, it tastes JUST like that. It was amazing. Until I mixed the tiramisu powder on top. Then it just tasted like black coffee and was quite bitter and not very enjoyable. So if you love coffee, I would definitely recommend this drink, just don't mix in the powder on top or ask if you can get it without it. This place is great! My cashier's name was Terry, and he was very friendly and welcoming. We had their House Milk Tea and their Rose Milk Tea. I enjoyed the latter very much, and it isn't too sweet. The popcorn chicken is really tasty and full of flavor, not bland or dry at all and you can request to make it spicy, which I did. Good decision. One of the owners just baked a Japanese cheesecake while I was there and she cut it up to give me a sample. What a sweetie. So good. My first time having Japanese cheesecake. It was fresh out of the oven and served warm. I'd come back just for that. I'm a new fan of Japanese cheesecake. It's very different than NY cheesecake. I got the the Goddess Oolong, and my daughter got the Rose Black. Both delicious. Mix it with your straw before drinking to distribute the sweetness, and it'll all be so perfect. They even give you a choice of going 0% sweet, 50% sweet, 75% sweet. You can pull up to the curb out front, and they will bring it to your car. I visited this place because I was nearby in Chinatown. I thought the interior looked cute (from what i could see outside), so I went on yelp and found out that this place was highly rated! When I walked in, the first thing I heard was the loud music. Judging by their aesthetic interior, I expected them to have a calmer ambience. It didn't really bother me though. The drinks took a bit longer to come out, but it was worth the wait. Rose Matcha tea with boba: 5/5 I'm a sucker for rose and matcha drinks, so when I heard about this I knew I had to try it. I'll admit, I was perplexed by the odd combination. But, the drink itself was spectacular. I wish more places would sell this. The matcha was nice and creamy, and you could taste the rose in it. It's subtle, but a little goes a long way. The only thing I disliked was that the matcha was a bit powdery. I tasted it and saw the powder start to form at the bottom as well. But, the drink was so good I didn't even mind it. The boba was on the sweeter side, which I love! Plain tasting boba was the last thing I wanted. The sweetness of the pearls complimented the drink perfectly. Rose milk tea: 4/5 This drink was good as well, but it wasn't anything super amazing to me. The rose flavor here is stronger than the one in the rose matcha drink. I didn't get to drink much of it (because it was my sister's drink) but I liked the drink overall. My mom wanted to try the "orange tea" drink with boba. Unfortunately, I didn't know what tea that drink was called. Good thing I did because my drink was perfectly sweetened. So if you like your drinks on the sweeter side, there's an option for 125% sugar. The boba is more on the softer side. I like my boba on the chewy side. Regardless it was still tasty and delicious. I have to knock down a star for the experience. They had photos of their specials without labels/descriptions. The menu is displayed on TVs, but it was changing too frequently for me to figure out what I wanted (or maybe I'm just old person complaining idk). They had menus in print which was a little helpful. After asking a ton of questions about the menu, I ended up going with the special and a milk tea to make things easier for everyone. Overall, yummy milk tea would totally come back. read more

This was my go to place. Would visit atleast once a week, sometimes more. Always order ahead of time since they get busy and drinks take over 20 minutes to come out. The past 2 visit were months a part due to their bad customer service. The first incident order online got 3 drinks. We always get the agar boba so we got back to the car and didn't see the boba at the bottom. Tried my drink, no boba. The wife went back with emailed receipt she was told it was in there we just couldn't see it. We aren't one to argue so tried all the drinks again. Still no boba. This time I went in, the employee I spoke to looked overwhelmed he apologized and said he would add boba. He went to the station and poured it on top and attempted to push it down with a spoon. Then another older employee approached him and appeared to tell him to stop. He said he would remake the drinks. I waited for them, as he returned and handed them to he tells me my order did not have a boba as an add on and walked away. I was upset, I'm not trying to get free boba just what I payed for. I raised my voice and said " excuse me" so he walked back, I showed him the receipt, he apologized and I left. This second visit exact thing occurred. We ordered online with agar boba as an add on. The drinks were set on tje counter so I walked in and grabbed them. Didn't think twice. I got to the car and the thought of the last visit crossed my mind so I checked and again no boba. Walked back in same older guy (possibly the manager or owner) told my wife the order did not specify boba. Showed him the receipt and apologized. In order to not have to remake the drinks he offered to give us the boba in a separate cup. We took it, the damage was done and we did not want to be in there longer than we had to.
