This was such a cute spot to grab boba, and I was especially excited to try it after seeing photos of the matcha drink with the cream perfectly wrapped around the cup. Unfortunately, it didn't come out anything like what I saw online, which was pretty disappointing. The matcha itself was just okay, and the boba wasn't as soft or chewy as I was hoping for. That said, the space is really nice, super spacious and a fun place to hang out with friends. They even have a section set up for games, which makes it feel more like a hangout spot than just a quick drink stop. The inside is definitely cute, but when it comes to the boba itself, I've had better elsewhere.

This is a cute place within the LA area. Great seating options outdoors and indoors. Lots of great menu options. However, the delivery of the drinks missed the mark for me. We were told we could not modify our sugar level, and our drinks came out very sugary. It got to the point where my mom couldn't enjoy her drink. I don't know if choosing another drink could make it better, but I left the place disappointed

My go spot for Thai ice tea, street parking only . Very calm ambiance and they have board games if you go with friends .

I stopped by Hey Hey for a Mangry drink, which is a deviation from my go-tos... how can I resist mango? Hey Hey is a cute spot to study / hang out at, and they also have Wi-Fi. Parking might be a little hard, but there are spots along the street. The Mangry drink was made with some mango and puree, but overall was uneven. Some parts felt water, and others more sugary. Service was fairly quick, with our drinks being made within five minutes (one staff member at the time). Outside of drinks, they also have a cute wall to show where visitors have come from around the world. I'm not sure if I would order the Mangry again, but it was a welcomed alternative to an otherwise normal order of "regular milk tea."

I'm so glad I found this boba spot maybe it wasn't by accident after all... it honestly felt like destiny! They have such an amazing variety of flavors. I came in a little before closing, and they had already sold out of a lot--which honestly says a lot to me. Clearly, people love this place and come often. Even with the limited options, I still got a drink with boba and that thick cold foam that I really appreciate. It was sweet, but not too sweet, just right. I was sipping it like, "Oh man, I cannot wait to come back." The service was okay. not super chatty, but definitely helpful. I appreciated that the staff member took the time to let me know I could customize my drink even though the one I originally wanted wasn't available. She pointed me toward the closest alternative and made sure I still got something I liked. That made a big difference. The ambiance was nice too. It seems like a chill place where people go to study or get some work done. It's great to know there's a solid spot nearby that serves quality boba and has a good vibe. Can't wait to go back earlier in the day to try the full menu!

Nice staff, quickly made drink, and plenty of seating to do work! Stopped by here to do work after failing to find seating at 2 other coffee shops down the road. So happy we saw there was plenty of seating outside here that was perfect! Not only that but my drink was really yummy and not overly sweet which is something that can sometimes be an issue with tea/boba spots when you dont adjust sweetness levels. Overall really liked the vibe of Hey Hey and will definitely be back next time I am in Silver Lake/Echo Park!

Stopped by on a whim and was a great decision. The lace is pretty cozy with couches and chairs with a chill vibe. I got the hey hey milk tea with caramel and flan and it was the perfect amount of sweetness. Also got the karaage onigiri since they were staying warm on a hot plate and it was so flavorful. For sure coming back

I ordered the Jewel and added boba. The Jewel is jasmine green tea with strawberry, lychee & lychee jelly. It's my other go to order. Service was quick and I love coming here for boba! Parking- street parking

Great quiet place where you have comfortable seats and nice vibe. Friendly staff and I like my drink!

Menu is pretty limited compared to most boba shops but drinks were decent and not overly sweet - jasmine tea w cream tasted like a lightly sweetened and mild iced jasmine tea, matcha stick tasted like a Starbucks matcha frappe. Shop is very cozy and gives off NYC coffee shop vibes - lots of seatings inside and great for study/hang outs. Parking is limited - either street park or you can park in the Walgreens lot nearby and walk to shop. Love the inclusivity sign.

This is actually my second time visiting this boba tea shop! I loved the Jewel tea that I ordered as it was tasty and not overly sweet. The boba had a nice brown sugar taste that I really liked. The service was extremely fast and the employees were friendly to me. The ambiance is very chill and inviting. They have fast wifi and it's a great place to work! I will definitely be returning.

I ordered the iced chai with oat milk! So delicious and not too sweet. The service was very helpful for my first visit there.

Ask the Community - Hey Hey

How much to upgrade to reusable glass jar?

Hey Melissa, it's $6 and you will get a 5% discount if you use it for subsequent purchases.

Are the growlers able to be used for refills still?

Once we fully re-open (6/15) you can either return your growlers for a bottle credit or refill it with the credit applied. Thanks for your patience!

Do you accept cash for delivery?

We are accepting digital payments only. Thanks for understanding!

    Are there vegan options?

Yes, quite a few of our signature drinks are vegan or you can always check with our crafter for any milk substitutes.

    Do they have outlets?

    Yes

How easy is it to find parking? What are the max hour on the street meters?

Not sure about the max meter time, and parking is less easy in this neighborhood than some, but there's parking to be had (and for free) if you don't mind walking a couple blocks. A number of the side streets that are just north/west have parking.… Read more

I searched Yelp for "Kava bar" near Los Angeles and they came up. Do they serve kava? It's not on the menu seen on their website...

Hey Avree, no Kava at the moment, but a great selection of teas and dessert bevs.

Why is this place listed as "not good for working?" Is that accurate, or can those of us with laptops get stuff done here?

I don't know why it says that. I've seen plenty of laptops here and people working. You should be good :)

Is the wifi password protected? Are there enough seating and outlets for you to plug in and work?

    Yes, but available upon request.

Are all of the reusable cups glass? Are there any plastic ones?

They served me in a plastic cup. Then I asked for a lid and I reuse it. Hope that helps a little.

You follow the café signs to an elevator, and once you arrive, you're welcomed into a moody, beautiful space. DOGS ARE ALLOWED which is awesome. There's plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. The outdoor area feels like a balcony terrace combo with a small but lovely view of the LA skyline. We sat here and our doggo enjoyed a nap in the sun. It's a great spot to work, study, or catch up with friends without feeling cramped or rushed. The staff was incredibly kind, welcoming, and friendly. They offer a nice variety of drinks, and we ordered an iced matcha latte and a hot Madagascar vanilla latte. For pastries, we chose a guava madeleine and a cookie butter madeleine. Everything is made fresh, and they actually whisk the matcha for each drink, which really shows in the quality. Our drinks came out quickly and were delicious. I loved my matcha, and my husband really enjoyed his latte. The pastries were also great, especially the cookie butter madeleine. This café is dog-friendly, which is a nice bonus. The foam definitely had a banana taste and did not taste artificial or overly sweet. The flavor of the espresso still comes through and it is very smooth. I believe they also have food options available, but we haven't tried them yet. I absolutely love this space with its minimalist design. The ambiance is so calm, seems like a great space to do work or catch up with a friend. Decent seating area inside and plenty of patio seating. And their playlist is fire! I was initially intimidated to check this place out because I imagined parking would be difficult here and getting to the cafe would be inconvenient. But it's actually pretty easy to get there, felt like a little adventure. Park in the structure, you take an elevator, cross to the next building, and take another elevator, which takes you straight into the shop. Sounds more involved than it is, but just find the parking structure and signs will show you the way! Plus free 30min parking or $3 for 1.5 hours, pretty good for downtown, especially near Chinatown.

By my third visit to Heavy Water Coffee, I realized this is officially becoming one of my spots…read more I've had the Cold Brew Cream Top, The Blue Heaven, and today just a regular drip coffee. All were excellent. Obviously...I came back. But honestly, the first thing I noticed on my very first visit was how comfortable it felt. I'm originally from more mid-sized cities like Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, so having a coffee shop where you can walk in and just shoot the shit matters to me. I'm a yapper. I love community. I like trying new places, but I also really value establishing my "spots" when I'm settling into a neighborhood. The specialty drinks here are exactly that: special. The menu feels unique and carefully crafted. But at the end of the day, I'm also just a genuine coffee lover, and the drip coffee is EXCELLENT. I also love that they micro-roast locally here in LA. I really value supporting local businesses, especially ones that clearly care about sourcing, craft, and community. While I'll absolutely be returning to shoot the shit, I'll also definitely be grabbing a bag of beans soon because I love the ritual of making coffee at home too. I also want to say this because I noticed some of the harsher reviews before visiting: this is a small neighborhood coffee shop, not a massive corporate chain built around speed and volume. Sometimes there's one person working. Sometimes service is slower because drinks are being made carefully and intentionally. Personally, I'd rather wait a few extra minutes for a thoughtfully made drink from a local business than get rushed through another soulless assembly line coffee experience. And yes, quality coffee costs money, especially in LA. Responsibly sourced beans, local roasting, quality ingredients, rent, and paying workers fairly all cost money. If someone wants the absolute cheapest possible coffee experience, there are plenty of giant chains built for that. But places like this are important because they create actual neighborhood culture and community. The staff have always been incredibly kind to me, and you can tell the owner cares as much about people as coffee. Will absolutely continue supporting. PLEASE SHOP LOCAL!!!

Heavy Water Coffee Shop is a solid spot with hidden charm, but service needs some warmth…read more I stopped by Heavy Water Coffee Shop on Saturday around 11am and found the place refreshingly quiet. No line, easy street parking, and the old neighborhood vibe feels genuine. I went straight for their signature Blue Heaven - an iced drink made with homemade vanilla syrup and blue spirulina. The blue hue is stunning, the vanilla tastes genuinely good, but at $9, it felt steep for what it delivers. I'm not big on the current iced-drink trend. Small and cute space inside, up front with big windows and comfortable blue tones, but the real gem is the shared courtyard in the back - spacious, dog-friendly, with string lights overhead. I can picture it glowing nicely at night. It's quiet enough for real conversation, which is rare these days. Service landed flat. Two baristas were working, neither of whom really acknowledged me beyond taking the order. No smiles, no real warmth - I picked up a "whatever" attitude that left me feeling neither welcome nor unwelcome. The drink came out quickly, at least. I'll definitely return to try their hot coffees, especially a proper cappuccino. Heavy Water has real potential with its cute setup and backyard secret, but the aloof service keeps it from shining just yet. Would I recommend it? For the atmosphere and a pretty signature drink on a quiet morning - yes.
