Iced Sea Salt Organic Iron Goddess Oolong $6.45
    Arrianne D.

Bubble U is a cute little boba spot in Chinatown with a wide variety of options to choose from. I got the Goddess Iron Oolong tea with sea salt foam, and it was absolutely delicious. If you're looking for quality boba in Chinatown, this is definitely a go-to spot.

When you want to Expand your drink-awareness-footprint in LA, here's a star to add to your portfolio. Bubble U has an easy to order set up, use a kiosk to order or at the window (I received my drink in under 5 min when the shop was busy). Best part always is the taste test for a 1st time : smooth, rich texture, real fruit blended to tea-satisfaction! Thank you, Bubble U :) im a believer :)

I have been coming here for a few years and I have always gotten delicious drinks. There are a few stations where you place your order. A lot of their drinks can be modified so if you want something to be less sweet or if you want more of something, you can designate there. At the end of the process, you enter you phone number in case they need to send you a text. There are ample seats inside so you can take a quick break. It is air-conditioned and not other sounds coming from a radio or TV. It's just the sounds of the people working. The customer service is focused on getting drinks out and correctly. They are friendly and they will answer any questions you have but for the most part, this is when you see staff- when you pick up your drinks. Currently, i love the strawberry matcha and the grapefruit tea.

First time at Bubble U and it did not the disappoint. The shop is clean and spacious. We ordered our drinks at an iPad kiosk and waited for the staff to make them. I got the Golden Hawaiian fruit tea and also tried some of the melon slush (with Pikachu on the foam). Both drinks were solid and delicious. The quality of the foam art, tea flavor, and ingredients were definitely better than other places. No complaints! I would come back to try other specialty items.

I tried their Lychee flavored iced tea and Maple Island grapefruit drink. If your drink needs adjustment, the staff is happy to help adjust the sweetness. I recommend the lychee iced tea over the maple island. Order from the tablets as you walk in.

There are only a couple of shops in Chinatown that sell boba and Bubble U is my favorite. Their drinks have a natural flavor with quality ingredients and they appropriately make sweetness adjustments without diluting the flavor of the beverage. My favorite thing to order in the summer is the watermelon cooler/slush. I believe it's a seasonal offering and I can't wait to get it once summer comes around. It's like biting into a watermelon and perfect way to cool off on a hot day.

Sitting inside the place that Yelp! apparently thinks is permanently closed.

It's a bubble tea place. The price is what you'd expect, the options are numerous, and the quality is above average.

This used to be my favorite boba store but the quality of the drinks went down after they changed ownership.

Great bubble tea spot! We stopped by after roaming around Chinatown. Service was fast and my mango slushee was super refreshing on a hot day.

The best boba in LA! Originally established in Chinatown in 2016, Bubble U has made their move into DTLA's Fashion District. Don't worry! The drinks they serve are still the same superb quality you've received these last 8 years. Parking: If you were like me, you used to drive circles around Broadway St in Chinatown desperately looking for parking so that you could pick up your favorite boba drink. Well here at the new location, there's plenty of street metered parking and a nearby parking structure! Drinks: If you've been to the Chinatown location, you already know what to expect. QUALITEA. I always order the honey green tea here. The jasmine fragrance and green tea taste just reeks of high quality. The honey flavor is the perfect sweetness. Boba is chewy and sweet. Interior: It's a nice clean space with only a couple of tables and chairs but they are still working on it. There is, however, a restroom! Which the old location did not have. Woohoo! Note: They only have limited menu items right now but they're all good! So what are you waiting for? Come visit!

Awesome customer service, super friendly. It's clean and quick. They have a good amount of choices and the drinks are delicious!

Had to try Bubble U Tea and went with a classic black tea--no disappointment at all! Smooth, refreshing, and just the right amount of flavor. Sometimes simple is best, and they nailed it. Service was fast for a weekend. Will definitely be back to try more!

they were quick in getting the order ready. The drink was good, i like how you can customize the ice and sweetness. The store is small and has one little table outside w two seats which is cute. You can only order online not in person although there are people working there making your drinks.(:

Hi does anyone know the store is really open at 8:30 am everyday? Thanks Nov. 06.2024

Yes, we are currently open daily at 8:30am. We recently tested a 6:00am opening time, but it seemed too early, as there were no customers during that period. We are now trialing the 8:30am opening to see how it works for this location.… Read more

The café is located within an apartment complex and offers underground parking, which the coffee shop validates the first hour is only $3. Street parking is also available. You follow the café signs to an elevator, and once you arrive, you're welcomed into a moody, beautiful space. DOGS ARE ALLOWED which is awesome. There's plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. The outdoor area feels like a balcony terrace combo with a small but lovely view of the LA skyline. We sat here and our doggo enjoyed a nap in the sun. It's a great spot to work, study, or catch up with friends without feeling cramped or rushed. The staff was incredibly kind, welcoming, and friendly. They offer a nice variety of drinks, and we ordered an iced matcha latte and a hot Madagascar vanilla latte. For pastries, we chose a guava madeleine and a cookie butter madeleine. Everything is made fresh, and they actually whisk the matcha for each drink, which really shows in the quality. Our drinks came out quickly and were delicious. I loved my matcha, and my husband really enjoyed his latte. The pastries were also great, especially the cookie butter madeleine. This café is dog-friendly, which is a nice bonus. The foam definitely had a banana taste and did not taste artificial or overly sweet. The flavor of the espresso still comes through and it is very smooth. I believe they also have food options available, but we haven't tried them yet. I absolutely love this space with its minimalist design. The ambiance is so calm, seems like a great space to do work or catch up with a friend. Decent seating area inside and plenty of patio seating. And their playlist is fire! I was initially intimidated to check this place out because I imagined parking would be difficult here and getting to the cafe would be inconvenient. But it's actually pretty easy to get there, felt like a little adventure. Park in the structure, you take an elevator, cross to the next building, and take another elevator, which takes you straight into the shop. Sounds more involved than it is, but just find the parking structure and signs will show you the way! Plus free 30min parking or $3 for 1.5 hours, pretty good for downtown, especially near Chinatown.

By my third visit to Heavy Water Coffee, I realized this is officially becoming one of my spots…read more I've had the Cold Brew Cream Top, The Blue Heaven, and today just a regular drip coffee. All were excellent. Obviously...I came back. But honestly, the first thing I noticed on my very first visit was how comfortable it felt. I'm originally from more mid-sized cities like Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, so having a coffee shop where you can walk in and just shoot the shit matters to me. I'm a yapper. I love community. I like trying new places, but I also really value establishing my "spots" when I'm settling into a neighborhood. The specialty drinks here are exactly that: special. The menu feels unique and carefully crafted. But at the end of the day, I'm also just a genuine coffee lover, and the drip coffee is EXCELLENT. I also love that they micro-roast locally here in LA. I really value supporting local businesses, especially ones that clearly care about sourcing, craft, and community. While I'll absolutely be returning to shoot the shit, I'll also definitely be grabbing a bag of beans soon because I love the ritual of making coffee at home too. I also want to say this because I noticed some of the harsher reviews before visiting: this is a small neighborhood coffee shop, not a massive corporate chain built around speed and volume. Sometimes there's one person working. Sometimes service is slower because drinks are being made carefully and intentionally. Personally, I'd rather wait a few extra minutes for a thoughtfully made drink from a local business than get rushed through another soulless assembly line coffee experience. And yes, quality coffee costs money, especially in LA. Responsibly sourced beans, local roasting, quality ingredients, rent, and paying workers fairly all cost money. If someone wants the absolute cheapest possible coffee experience, there are plenty of giant chains built for that. But places like this are important because they create actual neighborhood culture and community. The staff have always been incredibly kind to me, and you can tell the owner cares as much about people as coffee. Will absolutely continue supporting. PLEASE SHOP LOCAL!!!

Heavy Water Coffee Shop is a solid spot with hidden charm, but service needs some warmth…read more I stopped by Heavy Water Coffee Shop on Saturday around 11am and found the place refreshingly quiet. No line, easy street parking, and the old neighborhood vibe feels genuine. I went straight for their signature Blue Heaven - an iced drink made with homemade vanilla syrup and blue spirulina. The blue hue is stunning, the vanilla tastes genuinely good, but at $9, it felt steep for what it delivers. I'm not big on the current iced-drink trend. Small and cute space inside, up front with big windows and comfortable blue tones, but the real gem is the shared courtyard in the back - spacious, dog-friendly, with string lights overhead. I can picture it glowing nicely at night. It's quiet enough for real conversation, which is rare these days. Service landed flat. Two baristas were working, neither of whom really acknowledged me beyond taking the order. No smiles, no real warmth - I picked up a "whatever" attitude that left me feeling neither welcome nor unwelcome. The drink came out quickly, at least. I'll definitely return to try their hot coffees, especially a proper cappuccino. Heavy Water has real potential with its cute setup and backyard secret, but the aloof service keeps it from shining just yet. Would I recommend it? For the atmosphere and a pretty signature drink on a quiet morning - yes.
