It's really interesting how the boba scene evolved in Portland vs Seattle. Unlike the more Asian-American heavy Seattle, which has more large chains migrating from China and Taiwan, and to a smaller extent Vietnam and South Korea, Portland has a more homegrown and local boba feel. I don't know the history of shops here, but Bubble N Tea seems to follow the Tea Bar trend - that of a minimalist and austere storefront with a simplified menu, but focusing on high quality ingredients. We actually weren't planning on visiting Bubble N Tea, but we walked past it on Division on a Saturday afternoon and found ourselves wandering in right when they opened. This boba shop has some issues with the menu. As part of the minimalist aesthetic, they have a small signboard above the counter which lists some, but not all of the drinks. In order to delve into things in more detail, there are three laminated sheets of 8.5x11" in front of the register with tiny font. This really limits the rate customers can order since basically only one person at a time can look at the menus. Several other small issues I found - firstly, the "Handcrafted Tea" section makes no mention of the drinks being milk tea. For someone more used to Asian boba shops, the descriptions here read as straight/plain tea rather than milk tea. Secondly, there's no indication that toppings are included in the drink cost. Thirdly, there's no sign that sweetness and (possibly) ice level can be adjusted (signature drinks are premixed and can't have adjustment; the normal milk teas can). And lastly, there is no indication of inclusion of dairy (most drinks have dairy) nor of dairy alternatives (if I remember correctly, they have soy, almond, and oat milk as alternatives). All of this basically necessitates asking a ton of questions to the bobarista before ordering, which further compounds the delays due to the lack of accessible menus. Drinks are served in 25oz cups that are much wider than normal and don't fit in a standard car cupholder. Classic Handcrafted Tea, 50% Sweet, w/ Boba ($6.75) - We originally wanted a signature Dirty Earl Grey, but after confirming we couldn't adjust sweetness, we went over to the Handcrafted Tea section. The bobarista recommended 50% or 75% sweet since we asked for comparisons against typical chain boba shops. At 50% sweet here with the boba added in, this is still very sweet, probably comparable to 100% at a typical boba shop. Almost cloying for me. The drink is exceptionally milky and has some caramel notes as if they use condensed milk as the sweetener. The flavor of the tea, a bit malty and strongly fruity like an Assam tea, gives a bit of astringency in the mouth. The fruity flavor is very intense and seems like it's not just from the tea itself and is instead boosted by the syrup or something else added in. The tea is a bit unbalanced for my tastes, leaning towards the dairy and sugar too much. Rather than being complementary flavors, it's a little disparate and perhaps clashing. The drink is shaken until frothy, and while not watery, is a bit thinner than drinks thickened with creamer. I forgot to ask for ice level adjustment and let me say that they add a ton of ice. We finished the drink and 4 hours later there was still ice in the cup. The boba is pretty good. The pearls are extremely sticky on the exterior and very sweet, definitely marinated in syrup for a long while. They have a pretty good bounce and chew, perhaps just a tiny bit firmer than perfection. They are a little inconsistent in size and shape, however. Milk Tea Rating: 4/5 Boba Rating: 4.5/5 Overall, I found the drink to be pretty high quality, but too unbalanced for my tastes. It's not a bad visit by any means and I'm glad I went in to try the place out. Bathrooms - Single unisex room

I was so excited that Bubble N Tea is finally in Portland so I can satisfy my boba cravings without having to drive all the way to Beaverton that I came here on grand opening day! I opted for the salted brown sugar & a classic milk tea with bubbles. The tea was fragrant and the boba was cooked just right. The interior is super cute & the staff were knowledgeable about the drinks. The only thing is parking is a bit tricky on Division. Also it is a couple shops down from Salt & Straw. So excited to see Bubble N Tea open their second location! I've been a fan for a while and they continue to deliver every time. I usually order the ube and mango, which are always spot-on. This time I tried the sesame matcha and it was delicious--perfectly balanced and not too sweet. Drinks are consistently high quality and you can tell they care about what they're serving. Highly recommend supporting them!

The taste is as good as the Beaverton location. I dont think they have the special seasonal drinks as the one in Beaverton, but I could be wrong since I came on their 2nd opening day, and they might not update the menu yet. Parking is a bit hard, but they have more sitting spots compared to Beaverton location

For Portland this is pretty good tea. The cups are reminiscent of pre-Covid class 302 in Tustin. Super big that can't fit into a cup holder. But again, the tea was good. We got the coco cream Thai and the Thai sweet cream. Also got the matcha sesame latte and strawberry smoothie. Everything was good, but I really liked my sesame matcha. The place was packed but clean and the workers were super nice. Definitely one of the better places in the city.

I am absolutely STOKED that my favorite bubble tea from the west side now has a location in town - in my neighborhood no less! Such a cozy vibe and all of the staff were lovely. When I saw the "coming soon" signs I screamed with excitement, so glad they're here!!

Yay!! So so excited Bubble N Tea is in Portland now!! Anyone who knows me knows I'd drive out to Beaverton just to get drinks from here, so this makes me insanely happy. My partner and I love to try all the different specialty drinks and seasonal offerings but we stuck with some more classic teas this time. You really can't go wrong! This new space is so sleek and classy. Very different from the other location but equally lovely. The only bummer is they don't have the order kiosks here on Division which is hard when there's a rush. Definitely not a deterrent for me coming here, though. Always an amazing experience with such yummy drinks! Thank you BNT!

The bubble tea was very good. Looks like a large cup but there's a lot of ice so probably still the size of a normal tea. Very popular now that it's open on Division so be ready for a line (although maybe it was just for the opening week). Small place but some nice seating and nice wooden interior.

I have been wanting to come here for years. Yes years. In my family, we don't really go to brunch…read moreor even breakfast too often. You can tell from my yelp reviews, I don't really have a lot of breakfast reviews. But I had this saved as a must try and it is in NE and not far from our place. So this morning when hubs said our pregnant daughter was coming over for breakfast I jumped at the chance to suggest this spot. In case you don't read the rest of my review, I wanted to comment that the service was really great here and I am pretty sure the nice guy in the front was the owner, but I could be wrong. There was another guy working as well when two of us arrived and the rest were parking and he told us which table would be ours but that we should wait and all order together. But he was really great because when he saw the place start to get busy he reminded us of our table in the corner, kinda letting us know so it wouldn't get snatched. So that earned points in book. The menu is brunchy in that it is a prix fix breakfast menu for $28.50 and there are 3 columns with 4-5 choices. Drinks, savory and sweet items. Boozy drinks are about $10-15 extra. There is also drinking chocolate, teas, coffee or juice. (Orange and grapefruit). The girls said the orange juice was really good. But I can't drink citrus and drinking chocolate would've been too heavy for me, so I opted for coffee. This is the only column that I could take or leave. Savory - all of us I think had something different and not one item was bad. I opted for the popcorn chicken and cheesy grits and it came with a poached egg that had a beautiful gooey egg yolk in the middle. The chicken was crispy and cooked to a crispy perfection on the outside but tender and juicy on the inside. The grits were so yummy and creamy as well. *chefs kiss* My hubs ordered the buttermilk biscuits with chorizo gravy and that was also a stellar choice. I had a bite and the biscuits were crisp on the outside and the gravy with the chorizo had such good flavor. Sweet - I had the Tres Leches French toast and once again, it was perfectly crisp on the outside and cooked to perfection on the inside with what I assume was a tres leches condensed milk concoction. It came with some berries and cream drizzled around it was perfect. My hubs had the graham cracker waffles and I am going to say it again, crispy and golden on the outside and cooked perfectly. I didn't eat any of the other items that everyone else ordered, like the baked egg and potatoes or the crepes, so I cannot comment on them, but I did take photos to share. But there are so many photos already I doubt mine offer anything new. I'm not usually a breakfast or brunch person but this was really good. 10/10 delicios on every single item and this place gets 6 stars out of 5.

Tried out the popcorn chicken and gritz and baked eggs for the savory and the graham cracker waffles and french toast for the sweet. Everything tasted good, popcorn chicken was juicy and grits were nicely flavored but the baked eggs were our fave- the gravy on top was just too good! French toast was also up there- but I did wish there was syrup for it. Staff was very friendly and helpful, even with the preset menu, you can still order a la carte too. Shop is cozy and there's an area on the counter by the window with the cream, sugar, and condiments (ketchup, tapatio, etc) which I didn't realize at first.

I ordered the High Mountain Oolong Milk Tea with whole milk, and if you're a true tea person, this one's for you. The tea is freshly brewed, strong, and fragrant, and the sweetness level was perfectly balanced--not overpowering at all. The boba was really nice too--soft, chewy, and the perfect texture. I also tried their new item, Mango Boom, which was yummy. It has a good amount of real mango flavor and pairs really well with the coconut cream. Refreshing and not too sweet. Overall, a great place and definitely worth coming back to try more drinks. Highly recommend giving it a visit!

Finally a place that has smaller sized cups!!…read more We got two of the most popular teas, the Sugar Babie (popular milk tea) and the Sweater Weather (popular fruit tea). I adjusted the sweetness on the Sugar Babie to 75% because the employee said that one can be kind of sweet. I think it was a good suggestion because it wasn't too sweet and you could still taste the ceylon tea flavor. The Sweater Weather was a lychee fruit tea with lychee chunks and lychee jelly which made it a refreshing and light drink, perfect for this hot summer weather! The interior is pretty small with just a few seats, so definitely a great place to grab and go. The ambiance is clean and minimal.
