TRIED TO SCAM ME I…read morerecently purchased an R129 and brought it to High-Tech Automotive for a standard inspection. Only issue was a vibration at highway speeds. They presented me with an almost $4,000 estimate -- not including the required alignment that their recommended steering/suspension overhaul would have triggered -- and claimed several issues that simply weren't remotely real. One of their recommended repairs had already been completed recently. Another, which they described as "oil spewing everywhere," was later inspected by a second shop, who showed me in plain view that there was no leak, no seepage, and no mechanical issue whatsoever. To verify everything, I took the car to a trusted independent Mercedes specialist that my friend has used for years. The new assessment could not have been clearer: the repair list from High-Tech Automotive was unfounded, exaggerated, and appeared to be an attempt to take advantage of a customer they assumed wouldn't verify the work. Based on my experience, the estimate was misleading, inflated, and not supported by any legitimate diagnosis. Stay FAR away from this shop UPDATE: was just a bent rim, $150 repair. Not $4000!

Auto repair shops tend to be hit or miss if they do what they say they will, and this Shop excels in every way possible. TLDR; this is a car repair shop run by car people who love cars. Not only are they cool to talk Shop with, but they are very transparent and trustworthy.

My Tacoma which I've had since it was new 18 years ago started making some weird noise that I…read morecouldn't figure out what it was from. I took it in to a place AAA recommended in downtown LA and explain the issue. They told me I needed a new timing chain along with a whole bunch of other stuff and quotes me $4800 for it. This was preceded with a lot of scare tactics on what will happen if I don't have the work done, which came across as very used car salesman-ish. When I ran the quote through ChatGPT I was told they were charging me dealership pricing for an independent mechanic for that type of work in LA. So I brought the truck here to Speedway where I had Minor worked done before and had a good experience. They told me my bearings need to be replaced and did the work for lesson than a quarter of the price I was quoted at the other mechanic. Work was finished in a day and the truck has been running perfectly since then. Had I spent to 4800 at the place it wouldn't have even resolved the issue, which means I would've had to come out of the pocket even more after the initial work was done. Obviously a truck of this age is gonna have some problems and when they inevitably happen again I will be back here at Speedway to take care of them. Highly recommend this place for integrity, quality, efficiency and fair pricing.

After three years since moving to LA I finally found New Sun Auto Service and they turned out to be stellar. They do a whole suite of different services. I went for brakes services and air conditioning. Didn't air conditioning service after all but the brakes service went speedy and the manager J. Rodriguez was super friendly and broke down all my options beforehand and let me decide what package was best for me. Service only took couple hours in and that was perfect because I could get a nice leisurely lunch at the world-famous Pink's hotdogs one block away. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon. They aren't just mechanics, they do body work, upgrades, and custom work if you want to improve your car, not just maintain. Great experience! Couldn't recommend them enough!

Art and his Crew are worth their collective Weight in Gold…read more I reached out to several Transmission Specialists via Yelp when my 2009 Nissan Rogue began Performing Irregularly out of the Blue 2 days ago. Without any Signs whatsoever-- no Odd Sound or Smell, let alone any Warning Lights on the Dash-- I had to press my Accelerator all the way to the Floor just to get it to go 5-10mph in LA Rush Hour Traffic from Midtown to Van Nuys for an Appointment. It ran just fine getting onto the 101... which I absolutely should not have Gambled, but Gonzo is as Gonzo does. It ran just as Smoothly as Normal later in the Evening with Cooler Temperatures and Clear Roads, so I took it to Autozone immediately after my Appointment to get a Reading. It came up with CODE: P0840 "Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor/ Switch "A" Circuit," which came as a complete Relief since I've dealt with Transmission Failures before. Art was the first (by several hours) of 4 Mechanics to Respond to my Yelp Inquiry with a far more Thorough Message than the others. Uniq is located in Glendale, so with Gas Prices being what they are during this Absurd War I had really hoped for anything Closer. But after several Yelp Messages and a Phone Call, Art was already proving to be the Most Professional Mechanic ahead of time. He was as Jovial as he was Informative with his Initial Diagnoses... and given that his Inspection would be Free on top of a completely Expected Estimate and just how clearly he made it that Uniq Motors would get the Job Done right no matter whether the Problem was Fluid, Electrical, or Mechanical, I coordinated with him to bring my Vehicle in that Afternoon. Uniq Motors is located within a 20 minute walk to the Glendale Galleria and Americana where I have AMC A-List, so I was quite pleased with being able to take in a Movie in the Ensuing Hours it would take his Transmission Specialist to Elucidate what was going on and how to fix it. The Kicker? Art had his new Intern, Edgar, drive me to the Theater. It meant so much for this Enthusiastic young man to express his Gratitude for being given Purpose at his new job by giving me an Air Conditioned ride to the Venue. That young man's Pride in working with Uniq spoke so many Volumes of what kind of Ship that Art runs. Several Hours later, I returned to Uniq where this "Home Away from Home" for his Mechanics was filled with the smell of Pizza they had just gotten. Art was somewhat Aghast at how many times he'd had to Flush the Transmission Fluid... 4-5 times, with Fluid so Black and Thick that it had most likely Never been Serviced in the 135K miles it had taken on before I purchased it from a Private Seller in January earlier this year. I made myself Comfortable on his Office Couch while waiting for them to Flush the Transmission completely Clean. They'd had to add enough New Fluid to necessitate going slightly over the original Estimate, which was absolutely Understandable. They also found that the Transmission Casing had a small Leak, so he included that on the Receipt Printout for Future Reference on keeping my Chariot Serviced. I could feel the Improvement in my Car's Performance immediately. I had Zero Doubts whatsoever that I would make it back home in Midtown without a Hitch... and now I'm experiencing a *severely* Improved MPG. Thank you so much Art and Uniq Crew, you are absolutely worth the Drive and Invoice!

I asked Armando what I should prioritize first, and instead of trying to upsell me into panic, he explained what actually mattered most right now and what could wait a little longer. I ended up paying around $430-ish for the wheel bearing repair and the difference is honestly insane. My car used to sound awful and feel stressed just existing on the road. Now it glides so smoothly it feels suspiciously close to an electric vehicle. Huge difference. What I appreciated most was the honesty. While I was there, another woman came in after an accident wanting to fix one cosmetic area near the tire. Armando explained why spending money only on that part wouldn't really solve the larger issue long term. You could tell she was disappointed because the bigger repair was expensive, but he genuinely didn't want her wasting money towing it to him..even if it could've been as easy sell. That kind of honesty is rare nowadays. He'll tell you the truth, even when it's not the answer people necessarily want to hear. Armando and Manuel were both professional, fair, and accommodating through the whole process. They even helped coordinate a third-party payment over the phone during a stressful situation for me, which helped more than they probably realize.
