I spoke with the shop ahead of time and we agreed on $185 total for labor to replace both front lower ball joints and do an oil change. I clearly told them I would buy all the parts myself, including the lower ball joints, oil, and oil filter, and I did. I was only paying for labor. When I arrived, the price was changed and I was told it would be $250, even though that was not what we agreed on. I understand prices can go up or down, but once a price is agreed on, especially after I canceled a different auto body shop, it should be honored. I also have an audio record of the original conversation. The person who did my oil change was very nice and professional, and I appreciate that. Was looking for a reliable local auto body shop nearby to take care of my Toyota Camry Hybrid and found this place due to its great Yelp reviews. Came on a Saturday afternoon and they had several mechanics working, no appointment required. I dropped off my car and walked 3 blocks away to have lunch at a yummy local restaurant recommended by the office manager Jay. 30 minutes later, I got a text from him that my car was done. Went back, paid and was on my way! Very good experience, work was done quickly and price was very reasonable ($75 plus tax for oil change since my car requires more expensive 0W-16 synthetic oil). Jay was very nice and helpful, patiently answering my various questions since this is the first time I've ever had a comfy reliable sedan (come from a background of owning fun but unreliable sports cars). Jay also told me that I can bring the car back for a free inspection every 6 months or 5000 miles to review the entire state of car, including state of tires, brakes and fluids, etc. Asked about various other maintenance requirements and he told me that other than regular oil changes and replacing worn brake pads, my car is pretty much bulletproof! This is a long overdue review for events that transpired in 2023, as I just made a yelp account but I never forgot about this joke of a place. These idiots botched a standard oil change on my 2011 Ford Focus by cross-threading the drain plug and subsequently puncturing the oil pan. This caused all the oil in my car to slowly leak out. When I confronted the manager (the skinny guy that wears a brimmer hat) about this issue. He lied to my face and told me this inevitably happens to all cars due to "wear and tear" and gave me a $500+ estimate to replace the oil pan. Amazing business model they got going over here. Avoid this place at all costs! If they can't even do an oil change without damaging your vehicle, they will surely f*ck up any other more complex, mechanical repairs. read more

After a recent oil change, a staff member approached me with an invoice for $640.42 to replace the rear shocks which were leaking oil. I was about to pay it when I had a second thought that I would search for the shocks (Hans Parts $379.38) online and try to find cheaper labor costs (Hans labor: $225). I found the shocks online for $62.39 delivered. I found the labor elsewhere for $160. Thus saving myself $418.03. Thank you Hans for reminding me to be frugal. read more

I wrote a long, detailed review but decided I'll provide that statement to more appropriate people and summarize here. While they used the correct repair methodology (verified by dealership) they used the cheapest/wrong parts which prolonged or even exacerbated the issues which lead to higher repair costs (verified by the mechanic who bought my car at half the market value had the car been mechanically sound and then fixed it by using premium parts). If done with integrity this is negligence. If done purposefully it's criminal. Net loss for me was $10,500. I gave an extra star because their customer service and process is well done and they seemed genuine. But damn guys, you could've charged me the few hundred for premium spark plugs and fixed my car, but went cheap for a slightly higher profit and cost me significant money. Never sacrifice your integrity for profit...especially when your business relies on trust. read more

We had to tow our car here after the car died in front of our house. Towed it there just for them to charge for a diagnostic and tell us they can't fix it, as it was a "system issue" that only the dealership could fix. Took it to another shop and it was only a battery issue. What kind of mechanic shop can't diagnose a battery issue? This review is long overdue! I used to go to the business when they were located off of Beverly. My fiancé and I came after business hours and they were closed. However, the manager walked over to my car with a huge smile on his face and advised us they were closed, and that we can come back tomorrow. I'm my experience, going alone to the mechanic, as a Woman, has always been daunting, and expensive! But not at Hans! Not only are they extremely attentive, but they are knowledgeable and straight forward. I now frequent this business and I could not be Happier to get my car serviced here! They are efficient, considerate of your time, and very pleasant. I've also referred my siblings, and they all explained a very pleasant experience. Mechanic stole rayband sunglasses out of my car. I took my car to Hans for a battery replacement. After installing, a mechanic took my car for a 5 minute test drive and it was done. Except that when I left the shop my rayband sunglasses were gone. I noticed right away but didn't want to jump to conclusions and spent days cleaning out my car and apartment looking everywhere but nothing. I went back to Hans and the manager told me he had to leave (for some reason) but that he would check the cameras, ask the mechanics, and call and let me know what he learned. He never called me. So I went back and the manager pretended that the shop's security camera's memory was gone so he didn't know who test drove my car. Bottom line: Don't go to Hans with anything in your car because it will get stolen and then the management will lie to your face about it. read more

Brought my own oil to Hans Auto for my 07 IS250 and they were happy to change the oil for me. The mechanic let me know that my car is burning a significant amount of oil. He showed me on the dipstick just how much was missing. He didn't try to upsell me any services or products, just let me know so I could be mindful of it. This guy basically just saved my car because I had no idea. Now I know to top off the oil every month. I will always go back to Hans Auto. They are genuine, friendly, reliable people. read more

Scam artists. They tried to claim that brake pad replacement requires - in their exact words - "programming".... This is a very shady , false tactic , to get someone to pay more money. I wouldn't bring any vehicle to this shop, considering they lied off the bat to get more money from me than required. No manufacturer requires programming for front brake pads. At the very least the rear pads require a tool to turn off the brake pad -- but the fronts do not. The service I received was horrific and utterly chaotic. I was scammed. I came here for a tire change and was informed with unnecessary details and lies. Yelp or the owner kept no deleting my reviews which is ridiculous because they're afraid of the truth. I will never ever come back here again. As what many other truth negative statements that's written here - The owner and the young man are con artist. They're fraud and scam many customers that had come for service. The owner and young man who works there has ZERO AND emphasis on ZERO knowledge in cars. My gas tank had a BIG hole in it and leaked out all of gas I put in (5+ gallons)! I had to have it towed to Hans Auto on West Pico Blvd. I was impressed by the reviews given by customers and decided to try them. I was given a quote by others that was unaffordable for me, but I was quoted a very reasonable price for replacement including labor. They did an excellent job and their customer service was outstanding! They were a Godsend and I truly appreciate their services, I highly recommend them for any type of service you need. A few days later my check engine light came on "again" and they fixed that problem too! I will add that they fixed these two issues I mentioned after I took my vehicle to a supposedly reputable repair shop ("PB") - they really messed my vehicle up major! Not only did they fix my car quickly and compentently, they also identified a potential issue that I wasn't aware of, and took care of that so I was able to get home safely. My husband was even impressed by the service we received, and he is a mechanic. If I had to recommend a garage to a friend, Hans would be it. I even got out of there without breaking the bank, which anyone who has taken their vehicle to a mechanic before would know, that in itself is an impressive feat. The staff here is very accommodating, honest and professional. Prices are reasonable and I appreciate how transparent they are from the start. Everything was repaired and finished within 1.5hours. There is a shaded waiting area with chairs, tables, and powerful fans to keep you comfy. I was visiting LA for the weekend when my car developed a clunking noise in the suspension. I called just before they were closing to see if they could take a look to see if any fasteners were loose. I drove it straight there and they were able to locate the loose fasteners and get everything tightened up in no time.
