I felt very well taken care of during my recent visit to Lucy's Auto Center! Apparently they've been servicing Miracle Mile from the corner of Pico and Curson for about 38 years. I loved learning all about the shop (and the movie that was shot here!) from Avo - the owner, and father of the shop's namesake Lucy. My car was in need of new brake pads... and apparently new rotors. I dropped my car off at 8:30am on a Saturday morning, and got it back by 11:30am that same day. Everything was fixed swiftly and effectively. Plus they helped me replace the battery in my key fob and checked out a squeaky pedal. Avo gave me free insurance and towing advice, too. The shop is very welcoming and not intimidating as many mechanics are. I felt that I could trust Avo like an uncle to take care of my vehicle. I'm giving Lucy's Auto Center two stars--one for the initial goodwill, and one for the tire shop referral that turned out to be excellent. That first experience built trust, and I appreciated the recommendation. But when I returned to ask about a headlight replacement for my Lexus, the tone shifted. The owner told me it was "my lucky day" because he had a headlight in stock--originally ordered for someone who never showed--and offered it to me at a discounted rate. It felt like a rehearsed sales pitch. He also discouraged me from going to the dealership, saying they'd charge me more. That comment, paired with the urgency and the "special deal," felt manipulative in hindsight. Replacing a Lexus headlight requires removing the front end of the car, which he did. Then he called to say it wasn't just a bulb--it needed the entire headlight unit, which would cost around $1700 even with aftermarket sourcing. Something felt off, so I told him to put the car back together and I'd pick it up. I took it to the dealership. It didn't need a unit. It needed a bulb. Total cost: $500. I believe I was taken advantage of because I'm a woman. Whether it was a lack of technical knowledge or a deliberate upsell, the result was the same: I was misled, and it cost me time, stress, and trust. To other women: trust your instincts. Get a second opinion. And know that you're not alone in navigating these dynamics. I recently had my 2015 Toyota Yaris serviced by Avo and the Lucy Auto team. My insurance didn't want to pay for the damages of a car crash that I wasn't at fault for, and Avo helped me immensely in getting the insurance company to pay up! He personally contacted the company, helped me figure out how to best fight the claim, and in the end, I saved $1000s of dollars on my repair because he cared. He got independent consultants to confirm what part of the airbag system was at fault, and he was super communicative and courteous. He was up front about the costs and time it would take, and he did it right. I haven't had issues with the airbag in the month since he repaired it, and couldn't be more grateful. On top of all of this, he even remembered me as I had come in more than a year ago for a car inspection for a car I wanted to purchase, and he was similarly courteous and helpful. I explained that I had done some reading and tried to narrow it down myself, but wanted a mechanic's professional opinion. Instead of listening, he asked what I do for a living (not related to cars), then insulted my work, yelled at me for even trying to understand my car, and used profanity. I found his behavior rude, unprofessional, and unnecessarily hostile. It felt more like bullying and ego-driven posturing than customer service. Came in to get body work done after someone had hit my car. Avo was reasonable and showed signs he cared about me and my vehicle. My car was left with them for about 2 weeks and while they did a great job fixing the dent and correcting the paint in that area, I'm docking a star for the poor attention to detail. The "detailing" they did for my car was incredibly shoddy. After seeing my car in the sun, I could see scratches around parts of the body of my car. All my windows were very quickly wiped, leaving water streaks and even some grease spots! I think they use very dirty rags and I can't confidently say that they wash them often. If you're considering coming here for auto work, do go with them if you get a fair price but consider asking them to skip on detailing your vehicle. read more

I bought 4 new tires and other repairs from this shop last year dropped about $2,500. I went to another shop on Monday for a tire rotation and they said they were unable to do the rotation because last mechanic cross-threaded the wheel hardware on the driver's side. So today I took it back to Lucy's and the mechanic said the bolt was broken. The owner became enraged and started yelling that it was due to rust and they weren't responsible. I said you installed new tires last year and now one won't come off you are responsible. Owner told me to suck his dick and other vulgarities and chased me off the property. The owner and her father are some of the nicest and most accommodating people, and I am so glad to have an auto repair shop that I know and trust. Needed a throttle body repair and they quoted me $1,000 less than every other auto shop I tried before finding them. ***BUYER BEWARE!!!*** Stay away!! Avoid Avo, avoid this auto body shop 0/5 (Also, where is Lucy?) Took my car in to get 5 new tires and new brakes. He quoted us (higher than competitors) for the new tires, but was "nice enough" to "add-on" all of the additional tire services (rotation, alignment, inspection, blah blah blah). He keeps talking and fast, but if you listen closely (and are tuned in the art-of-the-mechanic, the price kept going up and up of course. He said he would call he'd call to give me a price on the brakes by end of day, or next day at the latest. Sure; so left the keys to him. No call or communication that day; or the next day, but then I get the call: brakes will be "$Super expensive." So I said, look, honestly, can get it done cheaper elsewhere and thought we'd get some sort of deal since you only have to life the car once. So let's just do brakes this time to try it out. Definitely can get the tires for cheaper (was buying 5 at full price from this place). To which he responds, "well, we already put on the tires.." So I asked: you weren't supposed to work on the car until we gave authorization based on your estimate, that you're just giving us now. We honestly didn't trust paying this guy large sums of money that we've never worked with before, but also aren't happy with how this is going. After back and forth, he gets frustrated and says: "fine, car will be done tomorrow, I take off the tires and return them." *click* phone goes dead. Go in the next morning to pay for the brakes. He says, "bad news, I have to charge you 30% deposit for the tires." So I asked, what for? We never said to put them on. And apparently, took them off again. Long story short, I called the man a "crook" (being super generous here) and he agreed. He kicked me out of his office when he had had enough and I just asked if he'd be: fair and reasonable about this situation. We ended up not paying anything for the tires (Avo caved), and only got overcharged for the brakes. We still paid him over $1300 (so he got his money). Long story short, AVOID Avo, AVOID this auto body shop. I tried to give you the conversation so you can decide for yourself how you'd react in that situation. Also, the receipt was hand written by Avo on carbon paper and chicken-scratch handwriting. Your call where you take your car, but if wherever you go, make sure it's not here. Needed replacements for the fender liner and engine cover. On site the mechanics also pointed out a broken turn signal and offered a fair price to replace all three ($325 for parts and ~1.5 hrs of labor). They did a really great job and will do pretty much anything auto related. Do note that because of this they have a very tight schedule and are strict about keeping appointment times. read more

SCAMMMERS SCAMMERS SCAMMERS!!!!! On 11/5/2025 I took my car to Lucy's because my car was misfiring. They scanned my car and told me that it was an issue with the sensors in my pedals and also told me I needed to change 2 of my spark plugs, 2 of my ignition coils, and a fuel injector. I went ahead and trusted them and allowed them to do it. My car resolved for a few weeks then slowly started having misfiring issues again. On 12/31/2025 I ended up having to take my car to the dealership for the same issue. I ended up finding out that Lucy's never changed any of my spark plugs or my ignition coils. The plugs were FRIED and I kept them for evidence. I am not sure if the fuel injector was changed or not because I have not gotten that looked at. There is a possibility that because of Lucy's negligence and fraud, it may have damaged my vehicle and now I am experiencing transmission issues. I do have paperwork showing that I had to replace all the coils and all the plugs last week. I shouldn't have needed to do that if Lucy's truly changed the parts that they claimed. He was very understanding of my situation or so I thought he did because he seemed very helpful but in the end i got completely SCAMMED and now I have reported this place to the Bureau of Automotive Repair along with getting an attorney to file a lawsuit against them. This company felt scammy. I got my catalytic converter stolen and had my car towed to Lucy's. They kept my car for many days and charged my insurance a high daily rate just to park there. When the fees went over the car's overall worth, they tried to get me to sell the car to them, then they would sell the car back to me, etc. etc. It was a crazy plan. When I said, "no," the guy got mad and rubbed it in my face that he was going to get money from the high daily rate. Whatever, dude. Good luck to y'all. read more

Sadly the negative reviews here are true. I can't be silent about today's incident. I had a very poor experience with the receptionist and older gentleman during check-in. I was so offended by how poorly I was treated. It was disrespectful. When I arrived in the morning, the older gentleman instructed me to go inside and fill out paperwork. It was my very first visit. As I was handing over my paperwork, he overheard the receptionist asking me what I needed. I told her brakes. After all, that's what I selected in Yelp when I made my appointment. He jumped into the conversation and gave me a whole speech about not knowing how to properly describe what services I needed for my car. To make matters worse, he belittled me asking what I did for a living and told me I was defensive for refusing to answer him. In a moment of now feeling scared, I began apologizing to him several times for describing what I needed incorrectly. The whole interaction was just uncomfortable and unnecessary. The other crazy thing is that the receptionist agreed with him when I stared at her (hoping she would stop the interaction) and she did nothing in that moment of seeing me feel scared and uncomfortable. Thank you for the apology when I picked up my car and the 15% discount but I highly doubt I'll be back. The experience was disappointing. Also, probably don't advertise as "female owned" or "female friendly" if men will be greeting female customers and disrespecting them for not being knowledgeable about cars. The only female I saw was the receptionist. Everyone else was male. read more
