After three years since moving to LA I finally found New Sun Auto Service and they turned out to be stellar. They do a whole suite of different services. I went for brakes services and air conditioning. Didn't air conditioning service after all but the brakes service went speedy and the manager J. Rodriguez was super friendly and broke down all my options beforehand and let me decide what package was best for me. Service only took couple hours in and that was perfect because I could get a nice leisurely lunch at the world-famous Pink's hotdogs one block away. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon. They aren't just mechanics, they do body work, upgrades, and custom work if you want to improve your car, not just maintain. Great experience! Couldn't recommend them enough! read more

**Review for New Sun Auto Services & Repair** After a minor car accident, I chose New Sun Auto Services & Repair because they were highly recommended to me by Jiffy Lube. Upon arrival, I spoke with Gabriel, who informed me that the mechanic specializing in Mercedes-Benz was unavailable and would be back the following week. I left my phone number and all the important information about my car with Gabriel. A week passed without any call back from the mechanic, despite my insurance company repeatedly contacting me to figure out the next steps. In summary, while this mechanic shop may be good at what they do, I wouldn't know because they avoided working on my car and failed to return my calls. Based on my experience, they are very unprofessional. I plan to inform Jiffy Lube to stop recommending them due to their apparent lack of communication and willingness to work. I am highly disappointed and will never recommend them to anyone. They earn a 1-star rating for their unprofessionalism and lack of effort. read more

Jaime called and we made an appointment to meet and speak about the problem. Only his mechanic was there who made unsuccessful attempts to explained his failed past work, blame existing problems on an imaginary other mechanic (we've seen no other mechanic in more than 3 years) and possible miscommunication (when the car owner explains the brakes are grinding and making noise--is the mechanic is suppose to diagnose the problem or the owner?). Looking for a place to get brakes done I came across this amazing establishment. I mean who wouldn't want to become the newest customer of a 4.5 stars establishment. Couldn't be more wrong! This review is based solely on customer service by the not-so-gentleman that answered for a simple quote for brakes. We didn't even get past a quote. Very rude, and brushed me off like they didn't even want the business. I get it, with 4.5 stars they probably don't need my business, but if you're going to operate a customer centric based business, at least play the role of a 4.5 star business or the latter, that actually deserve that kind of rating, but can't afford to pay for it. I was driving with my girlfriend on the corner of Melrose and La Brea when we hear a pop go off. As I trekked along, my car had a flat. Luckily I was right by an auto shop and asked if they could add air to my tire so I could drive to the nearest tire shop. When the girl who pumped it up looked at my tire, she said it was a beyond flat and that I'd have to hurry fast otherwise it was gonna go completely flat again and ruin my rim if I drove on it too long. Unfortunately I did not make it to my usual place (Discount Tires) just shy of two blocks. I called them to see if they could send somebody mobile as night was approaching (I didn't want to leave my car parked at the meter overnight) but they said no, I'd have to bring my car in. I was disappointed considering discount tires is my go to but I understood their policy and immediately started walking Melrose to see if any place sold tires. By luck, New Sun was right around the corner from where I parked. Jaime was helpful and had one of his guys replace my tire on the street since I couldn't drive it into the shop. They knew I was in a bind and did everything they could to help me! Forever grateful to Jaime and his team. read more

Somehow a long ass bolt got into one of my tires right before I had to go on a long road trip for a job; I called them ahead of time and Hyman was so kind to help me check out what the issue was (I didn't even know about the bolt, thought I just had an exhausted tire that was losing pressure) They were able to take out the bolt and patch it up for me quickly (lucky me!) so that I was able to hit the road just in time. Eventually the car would need a new tire but I didn't have a spare one at the moment and it was a sufficient temporary fix (also it was a rental car that I was returning just the next day) Very nice and helpful staff, truly Hyman was my life savior cuz I was really under stress and near panicking - definitely go there if you have any car issues!!! read more

I completely change my review. New Sun has been ripping me off. I had no idea. I made friends with a dude who can do a little auto work and he was shocked at what they've been charging me. Recently they changed a oxygen sensor ($22 on Amazon) and two back brakes ($170 each). I didn't know the cost of these things until later. They charged me $1300 for these parts. I get labor and time of course must be covered. But a 400% mark up? I won't ever go here again. read more

My window wouldn't roll up just as I was about to leave town. My friend's car recently got stolen and I knew I couldn't leave it like that on the street for days in a row. New Sun was the only auto shop who offered to let me leave the car there overnight and also over the weekend while I was out of town and while they waited on a part so that they could repair it. They also added coolant to my car and windshield wiper fluid, as well as gave me a recommendation on my tires. My mini cooper's engine light was on, he said it's the thermostat issue and the part need to be changed. I took my car to the store at afternoon and he said I can get it back the next morning. However, next morning I was told that he couldn't get the right part and have to order it from dealer so my car have to stay there for one more day. Fine. The next day, i finally got my car, literally 10 mins after I left the store, the engine light CAME BACK!!!! And the car sounds even worse than before!!!! My girlfriend brought her car here to have the brake pads replaced. They charged her for the work but never replaced the pads. Two months later we find this out as we start hearing metal against metal when she braked. They sent her out in an unsafe car, but were happy to collect the money. She brought the car back so they could resolve the problem (do the work she paid for). They machined the now damaged rotors and put the pads in. On the drive home on the freeway, her car started vibrating violently and making clunking sounds. It turns out *THEY FORGOT TO BOLT ONE OF THE WHEELS ON*. The lug nuts were only remaining on the studs because a hubcap kept them from falling off. She could have been killed by this negligence. Others who never went to this mechanic could have been killed due to this negligence. I called the manager to let them know; he was courteous, very apologetic, and said he understood how gravely serious this was. He asked what he could do to make this right. There is nothing he can do at this point to make it right. Each time she has gone there, she has left with her car in an extremely dangerous condition. Going back there so they can avoid a bad review is not worth risking her life again. Save yourselves and your loved ones, do not risk going here, your safety is far more important than that. read more
