We went for lunch. The inside is cute and there's a nice outdoor porch. The oyster poor boy was good with lots of oysters. The oyster and shrimp plate was also good. This was our first time trying Bubba's and it did not disappoint. They have an awesome outdoor waiting area with corn hole and porch swings and the atmosphere is fun and casual. Everything is decently priced and delicious, including the cocktails. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of the service we received from our waiter, David G. Once our food came out he was MIA until he came back to ask how we were doing the check. My younger sister and her boyfriend went their whole meals without a drink refill until she finally had to ask twice before getting one and then didn't even ask if her boyfriend, who was drinking the same thing, wanted one as well. When we left we felt we had found another treasure location for eating seafood out. It was in our search that we came across Bubba's Fish Shack. What is even better is knowing that we can drive our golf cart to it as long as we are able to leave before it gets dark. Parking spaces were limited and we were lucky to find one. We could tell there was a short line and was told we had about 5 minutes wait. Well, it wasn't long before after signing in that we were seated. That is wonderful! Once we were served the appetizer, Fried Green Tomatoes and small House Salad we knew we had found a treasure for future eating out times. This is a great restaurant with choices of seafood sandwiches, baskets, and platters. Oysters, flounder, shrimp, catfish, and hamburgers were choices. With our party we ordered either fried flounder or fried shrimp. We were all pleased with our meals. We will go back again. The fried green tomatoes came with a sauce that tasted so well with the fried green tomatoes. I only wished they were crispier. Our flounder platters came with 2 pieces of flounder, large order of fries, coleslaw, and 4 hushpuppies. I was surprised to see the number of fried shrimp that came with the platter compared to other similar restaurants. The flounder basket only came with one flounder and a small order of fries. No hushpuppies were on the basket. They were so good it would be well worth getting the platter to get them. Yet, you can order an appetizer of them if you wanted them and not coleslaw. Sweet potato waffles were substituted for the fries for two of our party members and I was told that they were the best ever. The waitress was very good with refilling our drinks. They do not serve desserts, but I couldn't have eaten any even if they did. Like I was saying we found a treasure of a place to eat seafood. Days later before we left Myrtle Beach we went back to share the experience with another family member who was not with us the first time. This time I ordered the fried catfish since it did look so good the last time. I wished it was cooked a few more minutes to be crispier, but the breading on it was good. I could have gotten all you could eat of it, but decided that would be too much food even though it was only a few dollars more. The seafood platter was ordered and what I saw of the fried oysters I was not pleased. It looked not cooked long enough and the size of it was very small. However, my nephew didn't complain about his food, so it must have tasted good to him. He ordered the fried pickles and talk about being salty....oh me....they were salty and I couldn't eat them. They came with a white sauce, but again, it added more salt to the pickle. My nephew ate them and didn't find anything wrong with them. I'm not a dill pickle person, so that could explain my dislike for them, but my sister had the same problem with them...too salty. In all, I would still say this is a place that we will be going back many more times now that my sister has bought a place nearby. She said that it will be such a tease to send me a message to let me know they are eating there again. I know it will make my mouth water for that great seafood dish and knowing I will be back. So, don't forget to put this on your list to eat seafood even though they do serve hamburgers. The beach is right across the street and you can go for a stroll after your meal. Hello, it is unfortunate that the reviews on here seem fake. My family and I ate here on 7/8/2021. We had to essentially serve ourselves to get water and ice tea refills at what was an empty restaurant. Many many empty tables, terrible service and the food was cold and/or not done. Best thing we had where the mussels. I would not go here again. The server could care less never asked about how the food was we had to get condiments from the patrons next to us. Our only issues were we had a baby and they put us on patio by the door and we almost got hit with the door multiple and small walkway where my son almost got hit on several occasions . Had to get take out here this past Satirday becasue my son was sick in our hotel room. Just ordered the fried oyster dinner whcih was very tasty. Girl behimnd the bar with curly hair was great. She knew everyone's name at her bar which impressed me. Made me feel welcome even though I just ordered an iced tea and food to go. My husband went back the next day for a drink at the bar and said it was very good and the staff was friendly. When he descrid=bed the girl behidn the bar witha lot of energy, I think it was the same one there that friday night. Wish we could have had a sit down dinner, but will do so next time. It's difficult doing business near the oceanfront. Sell out and you become just another cliché, run-of-the-mill restaurant for tourists. Bubba's does a great job of avoiding that by keeping the hole-in-the-wall feel that's attractive to travelers and providing good food. The service was excellent and the food was great. The prices were decent, maybe a little on the higher side. The deep fried items being a little too heavy on the stomach is all that keeps this place from being 5 stars in my evaluation. Keep in mind that this isn't a fancy restaurant. Appearances are deceiving but not here. Try some fried shrimp! read more

One word describes the food...delicious! The peel and eat shrimp were delicious, not at all overcooked which happens often. My husband's fried oysters were perfectly cooked and he sweet potato waffle fries were crispy and good. The side salad was much larger than what most restaurants serve. Other items our party ordered were the clam strips, shrimp po boy sandwich, chicken strips and wings. All items arrived hot and quickly. The wait was two hours which is normal during summer months. But after the wait they sat my family outside during rain and wind. If you are looking for authentic coastal food, this isn't the place to go. This is one of the few restaurants on the Blvd in Surfside so it is a mass quantity type restaurant with typical mass production food. Majority of foods offered are fried. It isn't terrible food, it just isn't fresh. Our table ordered fried calamari, fried pickles, crab cakes, raw oysters, and chicken fingers. I am a caregiver for a young man with disabilities who was excited to try out this restaurant. When we arrived we noticed the elevator was broken and there was no ramp. We were told the elevator has been broken for months. Our child was not able to enjoy the food because it was not accessible. This goes against ADA and is very discriminatory. I drove up from Charleston to visit my sister who was on vacation from another state. She ordered the 1/2 lb shrimp (cold) and I ordered the blackened grouper. Grouper was good but shrimp was not cleaned. The vein (AKA shit) was unappetizing. I asked the server why the shrimp wasn't cleaned and was told, like a deer in headlights, "I don't know, that's how they give it to me." Service was average. Should have been excellent with 2 tables seated inside, 2 tables seated outside, and 2 waitresses on the floor. Would I give it another try? Probably not! read more
