We went on the beach for the day, and this place was on the walk back to where we were staying. We were pleasantly surprised. My husband got the crab cake sandwich which he thought was just okay, but I got the fried grouper and was very happy. The server was on top of it too! Had a wonderful date night with the wife at this quaint little joint. Decor is very beachy and fun, service was amazing and the menu was great. Cocktails were tasty and reasonably priced, I had the peel and eat shrimp and hush puppies and they were excellent, the cocktail sauce was flavorful and spicy. First of all we go here every year since we first discovered Bubba's and have spent a lot of money here. This is the first time we have said we will never go back. This goes beyond COVID and not having enough people to work. We tried doing take out. To which no one answered the phone, so we decided to go and carry out. Once there they informed us they aren't doing carry out currently. Which that is fine but why couldn't anyone answer the phone and say that or turn the phone off? Whatever so we decide to put our name down and wait on the rest of our party to get there. We were told 40 minutes. The text was received at 15 minutes. So we did not have our whole party and we're put at the bottom of the list. This is also fine because we didn't have everyone. The rest of our party is almost here and I get the text again. We walk to the top where the rudest hostess was there to set a timer on her phone saying the whole party had to be there to be sat. Again, we understand this, but we don't understand the rudeness. The hostess continues to talk about how short staffed they are while there are two other hostesses sitting behind her BRAIDING HAIR. Gross. Their car pulls in and we say that they are here to which the hostess, again rudely, says the whole party has to be there. We get seated (by the hostess who was braiding hair). We put in our drink orders to which came quickly. My grandmother had asked for extra lemons and when she asked the waitress about it she rudely said, "I only have two hands". While sitting we watched one of the hostesses continuously go to the back to get bites of food and walked through the dining area eating. The food was great, as always, but like I said before the complete rudeness of the hostess and the waitress. We understand covid and low staff, but the attitudes of current staff really are awful. My family and I ate at Bubba's for dinner on 5/31/17. I had been scouting yelp reviews for good restaurants in the area for a while before we came here for vacation, and Bubba's was at the top of our list based on all the positive reviews. First, let me say that the atmosphere at Bubba's was great. It has that beachy, fun feel that is always great to find at a beachside restaurant. One of the main reasons we came to Bubba's was for the seafood- my brother is really into fresh seafood. So, when we got to the restaurant to find that most of the seafood options were deep fried, we were a little bummed. My brother happily ordered the crabcakes though; I ordered the blackened grouper platter, and my mom got the flounder sandwich. My brother was overall disappointed with the crabcakes- they were somewhat bland and didn't taste too fresh to him. My blackened grouper tasted great! The only issue what that the "platter" was mostly french fries, and not much fish. (although, the hush puppies were great!) My mom was disappointed with the flounder sandwich; while the sandwich did have some interesting ingredients, it was surprisingly unflavorful. Our last unhappiness came from the cole slaw- it was weirdly warm. Maybe this is normal for cole slaw in some places; but we are used to mayonnaise-based foods being cold. Overall, if you are looking for good atmosphere and really like fried seafood, Bubba's would definitely be better than some of the cheesy buffets lining the roads down here. But, if you are looking for higher quality seafoods, I would say to keep looking. read more

Here's the thing ... waited an hour to be served - ok they are busy. I get that but when my husband orders me a drink and can't bring it to me bc the bartender doesn't trust him, doesn't think he's bringing it to someone of age - this gets me angry. I had to go upstairs and get my own drink. Then I see the bartender walk downstairs and handed another patron her drink just so that the bartender can be sure that that patron was of age. Why then did she not do that for my husband??? I was waiting for over an hour downstairs for a table and my husband could NOT bring me a drink yet another female patron was hand delivered her drink down stairs!! What is up with that? This was not the best experience for me personally. I decided to get the grilled shrimps with lemon and pepper, when the sever got to me they smelt and tasted like they were cooked in chlorine water. The server said it was just the seasoning, when she gave me one with out any seasoning it was exactly the same.
