Last year we had lunch at Bubba's and I will say it was one of the best Shrimp PoBoy that I've had. I was really looking forward to it again this year. We arrived and the waitress took our order. Another couple sat down and ordered as we waited for our order. They got their order and were almost finished when we received ours. One of the ladies ordered popcorn shrimp. When I finally got my sandwich which was supposed to be a Shrimp PoBoy, it was nothing but popcorn shrimp, a piece of lettuce two small pieces of onion and two slices of tomato on a hoagie bun that was split and looked like it was toasted on the greasy grill. I said something to the waitress about it and also that there was no sauce on the sandwich. I didn't even mention the fact that it had popcorn shrimp that looked like it came from a frozen box at the supermarket. She said that they never come with sauce. I'm sorry but the last one I had at your establishment had sauce and REAL shrimp breaded and fried in a wonderful batter. Now onto my wife's so called crabcake. Disgusting would be the word for it. Was it a frozen pattie or did you just forget the crab? The waitress said something about a discount and I told her NO that I wasn't complaining to get something for nothing. We ate it and I paid for it, but I will say that if that was the best you can do,close your doors. Unless people have no taste buds, they will not enjoy eating there. Not Popcorn Shrimp. Combine butter and garlic, spread on rolls and toast in the oven until brown. Heat oil in a 2 quart saucepan until 360 degrees. Mix creole seasoning and flour. Dredge shrimp in flour then egg; roll in panko. Fry shrimp in batches until golden brown. Spread remoulade sauce on all 4 rolls. Top with shrimp, followed by shredded lettuce. Remoulade sauce: Mix mayo, horseradish, pickle relish, minced garlic, cayenne pepper, and ponzu in a bowl. read more

We visited on a Saturday night recently based on the amount of positive Yelp reviews. I'm glad we did. We were quoted 45 min wait time which was fine. We went into this expecting a wait. I went to the bar to grab a couple of drinks and before the bartender could bring my drinks, we got the call our table was ready! Great! Although the restaurant was busy, service was wonderful and our server checked on us often. We had the fried pickles (yum!) for app. My meal was grilled mahi mahi which was delicious, husband got the grouper which he said was really good, one kid got the fried catfish (he ate the whole giant piece!) and other kid got tenders. Food was delivered to our table quickly. Orders were all correct and "Eric" served us very well. The food was all good except the gulf shrimp was extremely salty. We would have gladly sent the shrimp back but with young children it's not a viable option. Really enjoyed the fried oysters and the fries. Long wait for our table understandable with the big beach crowds this week. The children played outside and sat with us on the porch swings. This relieved the wait greatly, as did our margaritas. The fast service made up for the wait, our wait person was great. But one star off for them. It offering milk on the menu for the children and for the poor job by the kitchen on the gulf shrimp - nothing should be prepared that salty. My husband and two friends of ours hung out here on a Friday night after a chilly motorcycle ride. Laurie was our waitress and she did a great job, especially when it got busier. The ladies had the wedge to drink (Malibu rum and cranberry juice) and the men had whiskey. We ordered the mussels and a dozen half shell oysters as appetizers. The mussels were so good. They were sitting in a garlic and tomato sauce and came with grilled Texas toast. Our buddy just said he wants to get the sauce to go in a cup and the bread, he liked it so much! For our entrees we had the shrimp po-boy, the blackened grouper sandwich (on the spicy side), the BBQ sampler that was very good "for a seafood joint." the ribs were literally falling off the bone. I had the clam chowder which totally hit the spot with cold weather were going in and out of. It's a small place that has plenty of SC beach character and charm! The tables are covered in brown paper and the chairs are made if twine, so dress comfortably. If you're concerned about your health right now, avoid Bubba's. Great location and menu. Normally I'd give four to five stars but the manager needs to see this. Hilary was our waitress on June 9 at 1pm. Sweet, sweet lady with a big personality and a big voice. A delight... normally. Here's the problem. Life isn't normal right now. The CoronaVirus is still very present and she wasn't wearing a mask. The rest of the staff seemed to be but not Hilary. She stood too close and spoke too loudly, clearly sending droplets onto us, our table, and our food. On the way out, I called it to the manager's attention. I'd rather do that than call her out on Yelp. But he completely blew me off. He didn't turn toward me, apologize or say anything. Nothing! That doesn't work when you are the manager. Excellent restaurant and casual atmosphere. I ordered 1dz of raw oysters and my date ordered 1lb of peel and eat shrimp. The oysters were outstanding and fresh. My date said the shrimp wasn't season enough for his liking so they let him order the oysters. The manager explained that next time all he needed to do was let the server know and they could toss the shrimp in extra seasoning. The manager and his staff gave us great customer service. My wife and I came to Bubbas last night for the first time. We did not want buffet but still wanted the seafood we expect when coming to Myrtle Beach. We found Bubba's in the MB guide booklet in our room and decided to give it a try. Although we had to travel to Seaside Beach from North Myrtle, it was worth the trip. We were a little apprehensive upon approach because there was not a diverse crowd at all but good food crosses all racial boundaries (suppose to anyway). The atmosphere was what you expect for a local beach seafood spot a few feet from the ocean. We were greeted appropriately and was seated at the table by one of the most energetic and courteous waitress that we have encountered anywhere (Kim). We were both going to order the same thing (2item seafood platter) and fortunately Kim adviced us to get one 4 item platter and save some money. We did this and it was great advice. We ordered Flounder and popcorn shrimp. The flounder and shrimp were battered lightly and not over coated. It had a very fresh taste and the portions were more than enough. We will definitely recommend this to our friends when they come on vacation and certainly make this a must stop during our next MB getaway! Shouts to Kim for being so attentive and kind. The place has really fun decorations and the fans are tight but that's all it has to offer for atmosphere. We have been here for an hour or so and have been listening to a talk radio show (not sports) in between pop top 20 hits.... Not much for atmosphere Sat at the bar for $2 natty lights and pbr which is what drew us in but the bartender/server was AWFUL. I mean the worst in the business!! My bf works in the restaurant business and his first remark was " she should be working in the kitchen, not dealing with people" He asked for a shot and she responded " this is not a shots bar" to preface that scenario I should add we are calm hippies with dreads and obviously not club goers so this struck us as incredibly rude. What bar doesn't serve shots? After she brought us our food, she didn't check on us or provide napkins or another beer until we finally waved our hands and yelled for her attention and she sulked over and gave us the bare minimum of what we asked. Then we waited probably 30 min before telling her to cancel our order of fries pickles that never showed up. She brought the tomatoes right out and I was shocked for the price of $6 we got 6 huge slices. They were amazing! Then my pick 4 of which I chose the blacked grouper which was amazing. The grilled MAHI MAHI had a really good spice rub. Breaded flounder was extremely tasty and the fried oysters which were fun as I don't remember ever having them before. He is actually very hard to please said he could taste the shrimp in his breaded shrimp! The hush puppies were also very good. And she brings out huge bottles of all you'd need, ketchup, tarter and cocktail. No need to keep asking for more. I highly recommend this place! read more

Took the family here for dinner after reading reviews here. I give it three stars as it was okay but not great. Had to pay to park around back as the main lot, which is small, was full. Only a dollar an hour but still a little inconvenient. The kids enjoyed the big wooden swings under the deck as we waited for seats. No reservations accepted, but the wait wasn't bad considering how busy they were. The buffalo shrimp app was pretty good, but I was surprised I had to pay for hush puppies since most places around here bring as many as you want for free. The fried oyster platter was very generous in size and pretty tasty too. I didn't even eat the little side salad I ordered because I was so stuffed. The kids enjoyed their grouper bites and apple sauce. We didn't sample any desserts, so I can't comment on them. Our server was very friendly and catered to my kids, so I definitely rate this place as kid friendly. She was also prompt and courteous with the rest of our group too. The view is just okay as it sits on the second row off the beach. All in all, I was pleased with our experience here but definitely think there are better options in the same price range.
