Still a great place, ate here on 08/25/2020 . Staff was friendly and quick with service we had the calamari and it is very good with the jalapeño jelly ( no kidding you have to try this stuff) finished with a giant salad and catfish basket. I recommend stopping in if you are in the area. read more

Definitely recommend eating at Bubba's when you go to Surfside Beach! We ordered burgers, the shrimp po' boy, catfish, and flounder. My picky eater said the burger was the best she ever had. All the food was good but the catfish was fantastic! If you order the basket, you get two large fillets, fries, and slaw. For a few dollars more you could get all you can eat catfish but the platter had more than enough and was filling. Good family atmosphere and good food. Light and crunchy batter surrounding plump delicate filets with either a pile of frenched fries or waffled sweet potato fries. There would have been a 30 minute wait for a table, but the bar was fine by us! Plus was NOT being in the center of a crowded restaurant. Super plus was our server/bar tender, Tarah! It was very good and cooked right but something was missing, don't know what. I had the sweet potato fries too and they were very good. Friends had the grouper and it was cooked to perfection both breaded/fried and grilled. The clam chowder was outstanding. Fries were just fries. You don't need to "save room for desert"; they don't bother with it on the menu and I understand why. If you have room there's an ice cream place across the street. Food: The salads were really bad, one was even taken off the bill. The sea food was amazing! We had both blacken and fried Mahi-mahi, both were great. The Shrimp Po-Boy was by far the best!
