It was a nice and breezy night near the ocean. Our server Patty was very attentive and kind/friendly throughout our dining experience. We each had a drink, and I felt the drink prices were on point, served in a plastic cup. We ordered a shrimp basket and a crab cake basket and shared both of them. We found the crab cake to taste very good and it seemed to be seasoned to our liking. My mom and I stopped in for dinner while vacationing in Surfside Beach. It looks like a place the locals patronize. It sits across The street from the beach. *Beware, there are about 20 stairs to walk up to enter.* We came in search of fresh seafood and they did not disappoint. They served fried seafood baskets with fried that ranged from $7.99-10.99. The fried platters started at $10.99. They are served with fries, coleslaw, and 3 hushpuppies. I really wanted a combination plate with 2 items, but the best i could do was a 4 item platter which my mom and I split. We even had food leftover for a snack. The platter was $24.99 and we chose the fried catfish filet, clam strips, oysters, and gulf shrimp. Everything was well seasoned. The hushpuppies were sweet with a light crunch. The seafood was super fresh. The clam strips even included clam bellies. Sweet! The oysters were tasty but would have preferred them fried a bit longer. I also enjoyed the slaw. It was crunchy and slightly sweet. The service was excellent! We didn't even have to ask for an extra plate. (We normally do when sharing a meal). This is a local spot. First visit and this place was good. First Hillary was a great service attendant, she had a wit about her that let her seM like a very tuff mother. The place was clean and food was good , we opted to split the large seafood platter consisting of flounder , grouper, shrimp and oysters ! Complemented with hushpuppies French fries and slaw. A cold beer and a soft drink all to wash it down. Try the oysters , shrimp and the blackened grouper. They were the best. Granted it's off season but this place is worth the trip anytime. We had heard so many great things about this place, but it tuned into a nightmare. We arrived, took a little while to be seated, but once we were seated Alexa came over, introduced herself, took our order for drinks--and since we were starving, we ordered our food immediately as well. She returned shortly after with our drinks AND THAT WAS ALL! She never brought our food! I must note that there was a table about 5 feet away from us that ordered their food at the same time. They ordered, ate, paid, and left AND WE WERE STILL WIATING FOR OUR FOOD! Alexa never even made eye contact with us--WE WERE THE ONLY TABLE IN THE AREA!!!! I have to mention the restaurant was ¼ full at this time. As mentioned, about an hour later, two other people brought our food, and it was cold. At that point my toddlers were starving, so we just ate out food. About 15 min later Alexa comes over like nothing, we told her our food was cold, she says nothing, doesn't even apologize, we just paid and left. We were so upset and gutted. I can't make sense of the situation, the only thing I can think of us being treated like this because our race. I know this are strong accusation but I cant think of any other reason to receive this type of treatment. I sat on making this review public, because as a business owner, I have sympathy for business owners dealing with bad employees, but I hope this can be addressed, or at the very least this employee need to be monitored because NOBODY deserves that type of treatment. I love calabash style seafood and this establishment fit the bill to the T... yummy, tasty, hot, crispy, and plenty! My sweetheart and I started with the grouper fingers. I ordered the large shrimp platter and subbed onion rings instead of fries (I was jonesin' the huge rings in a basket at the next table.) John ordered the fried oysters and shrimp and he scarfed 'em down. Each platter came with french fries, cole slaw, and three huge, crispy hush puppy balls. The setting is casual and family friendly. I fell in love with this place and found myself watching ESPN at the bar having a cold one multiple times through out that week. The bartenders were great and I loved eating the peel and eat shrimp, the blackened grouper, and the oysters on a half shell. I wish there was a Bubba's in Sacramento California so I could watch games and eat good on the weekend. I'd much rather go to Bubba's than Buffalo Wild Wings. I was so disappointed!!! Following major surgery on my foot, I am unable to walk without mobility aids and CANNOT climb stairs. I called and was told they were wheelchair accessible. Sadly, their lift is out of order and there is no ramp. They are completely inaccessible to wheelchairs and anybody using a walker, knee roller, etc. So sad to say I can not even get in to the restaurant. In this day and age I find it appalling that a business makes no accommodations for those with disabilities. read more

What we had: 1 lb boiled, peel-and-eat shrimp and an order of fried oysters. It made a great quick lunch for three adults. Boiled Shrimp: True Gulf Shrimp prepared perfectly. If you've never had Gulf Shrimp, this place is a great place to try it. It has a distinct but very pleasant flavor which plays well with their seasoning which is a step above and better than old-bay. No need for cocktail sauce (which we tried and was also very good). We'd been looking for great Shrimp in Myrtle Beach for days and found it here. Personally, it's a 2-star for me on a normal week, but it's above average for these types of places in Myrtle. Clean, fast service, normal waitstaff. I'll note, the beer cups are very slippery. I spilled some beer all over my food, but there was no difference to the taste. Maybe improved it. Luckily it's a short 5-minute drive from where I stay. That's about all the time I had to make it back home after the food started digesting. They should call this place "In and Out." Hush puppies were old and reheated. Couldn't chew them. Mahi-mahi was close to chewing on a dried out sponge. We also reordered the mahi-mahi and it was the same as first go around.
