Really gone down hill. Grouper could not be found in sandwich. I've eaten here for years and sandwich was always a meal. Now just bread. Bad service at bar. Bartender said she's just too busy. Ok. Upping my review to a 5 cause I'm wondering as I eat here today why I never gave it a 5. It's just so delicious and consistent and the people are always friendly. Today my husband and I just wanted a light lunch and we stopped for a couple of drinks and some fried grouper fingers and calamari. First of all they are both lightly breaded and fried. Not heavy, not overly greasy, delish. Second the sauces. The sauce with the grouper was like a horseradish mustard maybe and it was soo good and the jalapeño jelly with the calamari was spicy and such a good pairing. I had a Tito's cocktail which was yummy and all in all just really enjoyed our meal. I also like that they have paper table covers and paper towels at the table for an easy clean meal. Bubba's was a welcome reprieve to a Thanksgiving week inside a beach house. With a crowd of 20 at about 2pm, we were very greatful they said to come on in and dine...the day before thanksgiving no less. The service was outstanding. Even with 20 people, and many of them children, a drink didn't go dry. We had a mixture of food across the menu from the AYCE catfish to Chicken tenders, shrimp, etc. All was outstanding, brought quickly, hot, crispy, and fresh. We have been waiting for this place to open for quite some time now and finally we had the opportunity after an appointment to stop in for lunch. There were too many of my favorite things on the menu including blackened grouper and the fried shrimp po-boy, however, I opted for Bubba's house pulled pork. It was only 11 AM so I wasn't that hungry and my friend enjoyed the Bubbas famous fried flounder. It seems they smoke the brisket in the separate barbecue room which was visible to patrons, was pretty impressive . Awesome mac & cheese was my guilty pleasure for the day! Having to cut back on the fried food to keep that girlish figure, I truly wanted to order that fried flounder sandwich, it sure did look good. I gave 2 stars only because the food was mostly fine. Waited OVER an hour for a takeout order of a salad, sandwich, and cheeseburger. The bartender was incredibly slow and clearly didn't care about her patrons. The couple next to me were late for their show. They ordered after me and still ate and left before I got my food. Yes it was a Friday night and busy but the bartender was hardly busy, virtually no drink orders. So disappointing as this place was recommended to us for our last night's meal as we packed up after a great week at the beach. Instead I got to wait an hour at the bar and watch the 16 year old busser sitting in the kitchen pick his nose and play with his boogers. Help wanted sign outside as of 10 April 2021. Shoulda known they'd be short-handed and subsequently slow af when it came to just about everything. On top of that, my mom got a shot of vodka that was abysmally short of the 1.5 ounce line. Worst part? There was a mf fly hanging around our table from the get-go. Not to say it was all bad. We are staying at Surfside Beach Hotel and this restaurant was walking distance from our place and we were so pleased with our choice to eat here for dinner. We went at 4:15 on a Friday night in June and were immediately sat with no wait. We ordered a popcorn shrimp basket and a platter with flounder and gulf shrimp and it was delivered to us SO QUICKLY! The burger was cooked perfectly and seasoned. Busy place with seating indoors and out, we chose indoors. The server we had was very friendly but we felt rushed the entire time we ate. We had the check delivered before we even finished our meal. She took our daughter's salad before she was finished and started piling trash on top so quickly we didn't even have a chance to stop her. She did offer to send a new salad home with us and tried to make the situation better. Definitely would eat here again, everyone has an off night, just hoping service will be better next visit. We stopped for an early dinner before our Sunset cruise! Our waiter was super sweet tho a bit overwhelmed with another large table but he was able to get all of our orders in quickly. The food runners got our salads and appetizers out in a timely fashion! The reservationists at the cruise shop recommended the chicken strips (not pictured) but they were amazing! I ordered the early dinner special of fried shrimp and a side of sweet potato waffle fries, which our waiter highly recommended! It came with a side salad (which was huge plenty of bacon, eggs and cheese) and a yummy croissant and I chose the house hot bacon dressing, super good! I got my entree but the food was not hot, I asked for hot fries and the assistant manger came with another plate full but still lukewarm if that. The only good part of the experience was the semi-flat tonic in the gin and tonic. Oyster poboy had super salty remoulade, fries some were hard and warm and others were just room temperature - left them alone. Cole slaw was served room temp also so didn't eat it either. In town for a weekend wedding, we arrived on Friday and after getting our room and setting in, I went to see what the seafood was about, as I walked up their stairs, there was a sign that read STOP to let customers know what food items they were out of, I thought that was genius! Well I won't be ordering crab cakes tonight, proceed up the stairs waiting at hostess stand and greeted to be seated and I explain I want to get a to go order the host stated that they had stopped to go orders at 9:15.. The seafood was good, about what you would expect. If you have picky eaters who won't eat seafood, the only non-seafood option is chicken fingers. Typical prices for the region ($80-90 for a family of four). The wait was short to get a table and the food appeared at a reasonable time after ordering. The inside feels a little cramped and parking can be rough. There is only one small lot for parking designated for Bubba's. You have to scan a QR code and register and validate your parking to avoid getting a ticket. It's in Surfside Beach so you can find other spots to park if it's full. read more

Took a little road trip this past week and found myself eating lunch here on a friend's recommendation. The shack decor is quaint and fun. Our outside porch seating came with a perfect ocean view. They had the plexiglass up to block the cool December wind. It was very comfortable. We ordered grouper fingers, fried oysters, and a basket of hush puppies. Not long after, the server brought out a barrage of condiments. I love condiments! The tarter sauce was just the way I like it! Perfect Mayo/ pickle ratio! I asked for my fried oysters buffaloed, and they delivered. Everything was perfect for fried seafood. And the hush puppies were perfect! The prices here are a bargain as well.
