After receiving a gift card, I tried Bruxie again. The customer service was again great, very friendly. The food was quite spicy- but I'm a total wimp when it comes to that. For a normal person they probably wouldn't think that at all. lol for me it was spicy. I got "the original" sandwich which had a sweet chili sauce on it which was hella good even if too hot for me. The mild Mac and cheese was also too hot for me. I ate the things anyway cuz they did taste good but my mouth was just on fire after. Again I'm the wimp here, point is, it was good despite that. It was awful. When you walk in everything is sticky like they haven't cleaned in a bit and it was $14.99 for inedible chicken and waffles. The employees looked like they were dead inside and wanted to be anywhere but there. My chicken and waffles were inedible because they were too damn S P I C Y. The chicken was spicy, and I know this because I removed it from the waffle and the sauce and tried to eat it without the waffle. If you are going to add spice in massive quantities, at least warn us first. I took two bites and couldn't finish it. My companion ordered a sandwich that was supposed to be spicy (hot Kentucky or something like it) and they love spice. They said THEIRS was too spicy and they ended up vomiting at 3AM. My boyfriend and I have been here quite a few times now and I've noticed that the food quality as well as the service has gone down significantly. The last few times we've been here, they've taken a really long time to prep our food and give us our order. I don't know what kind of system they've got going on but it's god awful. We ordered some chicken tenders/waffle fries combo and a side of tater tot's via Yelp's online ordering and I was told that my order would be done between 6:40 p.m. - 7:20 p.m. At 6:54 p.m. I got the notification that my food was ready. I then had to wait in the store for 30 minutes because they had confused our order with another. When they finally sorted it out and got our food, it was cold, the chicken was dry AND the fries were soggy. It does exist, in fact exceptional customer service exists, at the Davis location. My son and I try to go at least once every other week and they make our visit special every time. They aren't just staff, they become your friends! Yesterday was my son's birthday and I ordered a special birthday lunch to deliver for him to his school, and to say that they made his day would be a serious understatement. I said his name and immediately they knew who I was talking about "we've got this!". Not only do they go the extra mile to remember us, but to TRULY make him feel special! It's worth the hype! I was never a fan of chicken and waffles until now! The waffles alone are the fluffiest most delicious things ever topped of with the richest maple syrup I've ever had. Was so excited to see a Bruxie's open in Davis after really liking this food chain. My husband and I have been twice and unfortunately will not be back until they can figure out their workflow and service. Both times we have eaten in and waited over 45+ minutes for one original sandwich. We waited patiently, understanding that new restaurants may often need time to find their footing. Both times, everyone else's food in our party arrived and everyone had finished eating by the time we received our food. The food is pretty good but not worth waiting 40 minutes for. Dropped this review to 1 star when, after waiting 35 minutes, we asked a staff member (who we later found out was the manager with pink hair) to check on our order and received a generic "it'll be out shortly" without checking our order number or name. When we asked again at 45 minutes, we were told the kitchen was backed up and that some orders can take longer than others. We replied that we had all ordered the same thing, and the worker replied "I can't believe that." When all is said, we waited over an hour for one original sandwich, which was disappointing in both the time it took to receive as well as the bumbled customer service response from the manager with pink hair. Update: within 10 minutes of posting this review, the CEO Scott reached out to me directly to apologize for our experience and offer to make it right so I updated my review from 1 to 3 stars. I was lucky enough to attend the soft opening of this restaurant last evening and I gotta say I wasn't sure what to expect since I wasn't initially keen on the combination of chicken and waffles. What I found was that I clearly did not understand that the pairing of these two delicious items could be so phenomenal. As you may have guessed I was pleasantly surprised and will return here frequently from now on even though it's a fair bit out of the way for me. The amazing flavors that are paired with these two items and the variety of the different combinations that they offer on the menu is fantastic. I am a true believer in the waffle and chicken world now.
