Requested a HVAC and Furnace tune up through the yelp projects. Quick response and got us on the schedule. They came out today and the tech was great, checked everything out. Happy with the service and would recommend to other. We will be repeat customers in the future read more

Timely, friendly and knowledgable repair team. Thanks for helping me out in less than 24 hours.

Technicians came on time and explained every thing they were doing like I was a kid (which is what I want...I know nothing about HVACs). Technicians were extremely honest and didn't try to upsell. Even told me that if something were to happen, I can call them again and I wouldn't be charged another fee to come out. You've earned a lifelong customer. Thanks! read more

The last time the came to our house the service person told us we have to replace the entire hvac unit but we ended up finding out we just had to replace a specific part. Also when we had to have a vent installed they configured it in a way that we were not happy with and ended up having another company repair it. Unfortunately will not be using Browns again. read more

Reached out to Browns via Yelp on a Thursday, and they were here Friday morning. Excellent communication and efficient service. We had them install an Aprilaire whole house humidifier, as well as perform a furnace tune up. Their quote was well-below that of other companies contacted, and their service was next level. Ramod, the lead technician, was great, walking me through everything as well as quickly responding when I follow up with a question a few days later. Would definitely recommend and use again for other HVAC needs. read more

Winter was a nightmare because our furnace quit on one of the coldest nights of the year. I was concerned that we wouldn't be able to get anyone out until the following day since everything happened around 10 PM. When I called this company's experts, the team sent three technicians in four hours. Frank arrived, and even though it was late and frigid outside, he was friendly. Fortunately, he had a spare igniter in his truck and soon discovered that the igniter was broken. In less than an hour, he had everything fixed. He took the time to check the rest of the system to ensure nothing else would go wrong. He also gave us some maintenance advice for the furnace to prevent this from happening again. We were appreciative when he left since the home was warm again. read more

Even though we hadn't adjusted the thermostat settings, we were unable to understand why our energy expenses had been gradually increasing each month for some time. We requested a comprehensive home energy assessment from this company. They went above and beyond what I had anticipated, a simple once-over. The professional tested HVAC performance, insulation levels, duct leaks, and even conducted a blower door test to find leaks and drafts for several hours. He compiled a list of fixes based on potential savings and produced a detailed report including thermal photos. We improved the attic insulation and sealed the ducts. The improvement has been amazing--the home stays more consistently conditioned and our heating and cooling system operates less frequently. We have already observed a 25% decrease in our utility costs. In addition to selling us equipment, They truly stand out for their expertise and transparency. read more

We contacted Brown Heating & Cooling to address the issue of our outdated HVAC system after deciding to modernize it. These guys were professionals from the start. Justin was helpful in outlining all of our options when I spoke with him on the phone. He and his team arrived on schedule the next day. They didn't rush anything but moved in and out of the house quickly. They showed their concern for our home by wearing boot coverings before entering. They found that our ductwork wasn't in the best condition during the installation. Our previous unit was always problematic, but the new system operates incredibly quietly and cools the house evenly. They vacuumed and cleaned everything after they were done! I'm really pleased with how everything turned out. read more

It's been 5 years, maybe 6, since my last call to Brown's and I'm glad they've held to the same high levels of professionalism, quality work and fair pricing. The thing I like most about this company is the customer service. From first contact to last, the staff (office & technicians) is top tier. Enjoli, thanks again for taking great care of me. Ramod, thanks for your thorough assessment. Jose, thanks for the seamless install. With my new ac unit, I'm more than prepared for this summer's heat. Thanks again. read more

Update: Ramod at Browns called later the day of the no-show to apologize for the mix-up, set up another appointment and offered to do so at no-cost. I appreciated the better customer service, and the appointment went off fine. He was on time (and I got helpful texts when he was 20 minutes out), tune-up took about 30 min and he answered a few questions I had. If this had been my first experience, the review would be 5 stars. read more

We urgently needed a new furnace, and Brown's delivered. They were very responsive, gave us an estimate over the phone, and came out the next day, even though it was 5pm and they'd clearly had a busy day. Their crew (led by Jose) was great -- professional, polite, got the work done quickly and accurately, and were careful with the home (no damage despite carrying two heavy furnaces up two flights of narrow stairs, one incoming and one outgoing; and left their workspace immaculate). Plus they charged half of what another estimate was going to cost, for a brand name (Bryant) furnace. It's our second time using Brown's, and we'll continue to do so. read more

Brown's installed our HVAC system a few years ago and has been back for annual maintenance. Most recently, Brown's troubleshooted an issue with our furnance and got it running. Customer service is top-notch. Ramod and team are great HVAC specialists. They are honest and fair. Recommend without reservation. read more

We decided to take the air quality in our house seriously after years of sneezing, stuffy noses, and persistent dust on our furniture. A neighbor suggested this company, which received excellent reviews for its indoor air quality services. A technician arrived, assessed the humidity, collected real-time air samples, and even inquired about my family's allergy history. They seemed to genuinely listen to me. They recommended an air filtration system that connects directly to our HVAC system for the entire house. It features a UV laser system that eliminates allergens and microorganisms, along with a high-efficiency media filter. We noticed a huge change in just a few days. The house even smells better, Our health has improved along with our level of comfort. read more

When my mom's water heater went out unexpectedly, I called this company on her behalf. They treated her with so much kindness and respect something that really matters when dealing with older folks. They gave her a fair price, showed her how everything worked, and made sure that was completely comfortable before leaving. That kind of service is rare! read more

We braced for a long, hot wait when our air conditioner started blowing warm air. The next morning, their technician arrived on time, ran tests, and found a faulty compressor. He showed us the damaged part and explained how it wore out. Within days, the crew installed the replacement after it was ordered. Before leaving, they ensured everything worked perfectly, tested the airflow, and checked the refrigerant levels. They were consistently kind and professional. read more

I am INCREDIBLY satisfied with the work completed on my boiler, which went out unexpectedly, with a Senior who has dialysis 3X a week and a two-year-old baby. Extremely professional, amazing work, very reasonably priced! Wow! They proved to be the HIGHEST of the HIGH! They really know their stuff! I have been 'singing their praise' to friends! read more

Started off good but turned into an absolutely rude / customer rebuking experience. Never experienced anything in my life like it. Update: I received another text from them rebuking me instead of working on my positive feedback. They choose to pick a fight with customers. This was experience it does not take away from their service. read more

My AC went out and Browns was able to come out to service it very quickly. The technician was efficient and identified and fixed the issue in about 20 min. read more

Got a very quick response after messaging through yelp and was able to schedule right away through text. They gave me an ETA about when they were available and arrived exactly within their arrival window. Throughout the service they provided step by step explanation and was upfront about the costs and what we were able to do about our older unit. The whole process was documented through text and email. The price was fair market value for Chicago. Mr. Ramond was quick and efficient and finished everything in about 2 hours. I appreciate his professionalism and the fact that he was able to do everything so quickly considering the fact that it was one of the hottest + humid days of the summer. Thank you again, we will definitely be recommending this business to others. read more

They have done 2-3 projects for me, including two HVAC replacements. They always very responsive, do good work, and take care of you if something isn't right. read more

Exceptional! Offered next day appointment that worked for my busy schedule. Ramod was terrific. On time to the minute. Assessed the high pitched intermittent whine from my furnace motor caused by overworking from extreme cold snap. Recommended I do nothing unless it recurs. If repeats, they will immediately come out and install $1,400 new motor with today's $125 service charge applied to cost. Honest, professional, 5 stars in every respect. Will immediately switch to Brown's for annual maintenance as well as all HVAC issues. Very comforting to add them to my Rolodex and want to spread the word. read more

They responded within a minute of my request on Yelp and came the same day to fix our A/C which had broken during a heat wave. Ramod was great - he was both professional and personable. He was very responsive and gave us great advice. He even offered to swing back around when we had more questions. read more

Before noticing unusual temperature variations between rooms, we were unaware of how old our attic insulation was. The home was frigid in some places and sauna-like in others. They were very professional when we originally contacted this company for a home energy consultation. The expert explained how inadequate insulation affects energy costs and comfort. He even showed the areas where heat was escaping using a thermal camera. When their team arrived a few days later, they installed premium blown-in insulation in the attic. They also repaired air leaks around pipes and vents that we hadn't known about. Our HVAC system operates less frequently now that the update has been made, and our power costs have decreased by nearly 40%. The entire experience was enlightening and well worth the investment. We're finally maximizing our heating and cooling system and are much more comfortable now. Throughout the process, the team was punctual, tidy, and considerate of our space. read more

I have reached out to Brown's Heating & Cooling several times over the years due to their superb Yelp ratings and they have always been extremely responsive. They came in the past for maintenance and diagnostics on a tempermental A/C unit and Ramod was very transparent in what my options were. I opted for just the maintenance, and to wait out a more "catastrophic" failure. Fast forward a year or so, and our A/C and furnance fan went out (thankfully at the end of a crazy heat wave) in the middle of the night. I reached out again at like 4 in the morning, and by 5 am Ramod had already responded and an appointment scheduled by 10 am the same day. Ultimately, I opted to replace everything. Ramod walked me through the options, explained the pros and cons of each for my home, and pointed me to a package heat pump option from Carrier (they also sell Bryant) that best fit the logistics of my system (i.e. other options required a crane to lift to the roof, and I'd rather spend money on the system than on complexity in installation). Ramod and his team were here the next day, and for almost 12 hours they removed, cleaned up, and installed the new system. The entire team was extremely polite, hard working, and very tolerant of the 3 flights of stairs they had to climb over and over (sorry!!). Brown's was fair and competitive on price - I would not consider them a discount provider, but you get what you pay for and more. I received personalized and efficient service, and Ramod worked with me to ensure I received any eligible tax credits and rebates, and financing / payment options. Even weeks later, they are reaching out to check on how the system is performing to ensure satisfaction. I cannot recommend Brown's enough, you will get fantastic customer service, open communication, and timely service. I will definitely have them back for annual service and they'll be my first call for any other HVAC needs. read more

They came out and told me my compressor was busted on a brand new A/C unit that was installed one year ago. Got another opinion and was told the compressor was fine. Browns discovered the Freon was low and filled the unit, on that end they came through. This place is pricey but they do respond to concerns. Ramod was proactive in helping better understand the misdiagnosis. read more

Came out super quick on a Saturday to assist with a problem! Clearly explained the issue and recommended maintenance moving forward. Would 100% recommend! read more

I messaged this business and several others for A/C tuneup quotes. They came in low at $85, and I said great! I asked to schedule and they proceeded to ask me, "what for? Maintenance or repair?" My request explicitly stated it was for a tuneup. I reply anyway giving them the benefit of the doubt. They responded by saying they aren't accepting anymore maintenance customers. They were a waste of time and apparently only want customers in dire need of help (emergency repair). read more

In response to the manager saying I have the wrong business, that is a lie. I've verified the address on my invoice before writing this review. The tech that worked on my unit even admitted to me that his manager wanted him to upsell me to buy a PTAC through them. The technician was great, too bad he was working for a dishonest employer. I hope he's moved on to a better employer. read more

I had my boiler replaced by Browns Heating and Cooling a few days ago. The process from receiving an estimate to making the payment for the service performed was affordable, easy and hassle/haggle free. There were no hidden fees or surprises which was a refreshing experience considering an experience I had with another company. The crew that came out were professional and handled the installation with a lot of care. The technicians were on time and they did a fantastic job cleaning the work area after they were done, as well. We're pleased with their services and I'd highly recommend them. read more

Air conditioner went out on the hottest day of the year. I inquired on Brown's website and almost immediately got a text back from Ramod. He came out within 2-3 hours and gave us three options. We ended up getting our unit replaced. After sourcing some other friends, the pricing was right in line with the industry average around Chicago. Their techs came out and were very professional. I highly recommend them for all of your HVAC needs. read more

Im looking for a company who can repair our aircon immediately. There is hot and weak air coming out of our AC. It was weird since we are used to the cold and fresh air. My friend recommended this company. Last time his AC was repaired by this company and he's very satisfied with the output so it's better if I try this company. He gave me the number and I called the company. I could hear the voice of a guy and he greeted me. Then I tell him what my problem is. It's great that I can choose what time they visit and repair it and they are willing to work around my schedule. Then they fixed it yesterday and I'm so happy that my AC was done and looks new. I highly recommend Brown's and looking forward to working with them again when there are issues. read more

Impressed with this company. Quick and conscientious service fixing our furnace. Will work with them again.

My furnace stopped working and after reaching out I received a very prompt and professional reply. Browns was able to not only assess the issue but resolve it the same day. The company was very responsive and courteous in answering my questions and providimg me with an estimate. Based on that, I decided to use this company for the maintenance of my HVAC system. After numerous frustrating days of reaching out directly to AC repair places near me only to get no response or "we can help next week" messages, I used Yelp to send out a distress call. Within an hour, I got 3 email responses and picked Browns because of the number of excellent ratings which, I found out, are well deserved. I confirmed our need at 6am on Saturday and someone showed up at 8am to take a look. The leak was in a bad place and the need to move the unit and our furnace was obvious, but the technician (Michael Jackson) had a big brain moment and came up with an ingenious alternative that worked, saved us a TON of $$$$ and didn't require a full demo job of the corner where the units are wedged into. (You can see the tight spot in the picture) Can't thank them enough for being there when we needed them, being creative and thinking of how we can save some money. read more

I required two boiler inspections prior to my purchasing two apartment buildings. My daughter had a good experience hiring Browns Heating & Cooling during a no-heat emergency at her River Forest home. So, I contacted for my heating need. Ramod and staff were responsive and asked detailed questions to determine the scope of work before arriving on site. The inspections were completely in a timely manner and the report clearly communicated the inspection results and provided clear pictures for my reference. I am very satisfied and look forward to using Browns Heating & Cooling in the future after closing on the apartment buildings. read more

Thank you Browns! Browns heating and cooling visited to give my furnace it's annual 'check up'. The nice part about the scheduling was that they were super responsive by email (helpful when you're in a spot where it's hard to call) and fit me in pretty quickly for the service. They have a 3-hour visit window, which can be long, but they did call when they said they would (on their way). The service was done quickly and they talked me through everything I needed to know. I tried to find other options, but had varying degrees of responsiveness from other HVAC companies - so I was thrilled with Browns. I will definitely use them again if I need service or regular maintenance. Honest and reasonable. read more
