Absolutely incredible. Friendly and welcoming staff, TOP notch pastries, and a lovely indoor and outdoor atmosphere. Sad they were only open on the last day of our stay, but well worth the wait!

Brown Bear Baking is a delightful bakery. We visited Orcas Island over Memorial Day Weekend and must have stopped by BBB at least 3 times. The staff members were so friendly. We loved the peanut butter sandwich cookies.

Love this bakery! We came here for a birthday trip and I picked up a little fruit tart as a birthday treat. It was perfectly sweet with fresh fruit, tasted fresh even though I picked it up later in the day! We came back here the following day for coffee and pastries and had a wonderful time. The pastries are delicious, some of the best I've ever had. There is an outdoor seating area as well, dog friendly so we enjoyed the sunny space with our puppy. Overall, I'll definitely be back. Happy eating!

i do not have enough good things to say about Brown Bear Baking pastries were absolutely amazing. our whole group went back for extra pastries for the rest of our trip. who says i can't have five chocolate muffins on vacation?! (will never stop thinking of those muffins ) dave was so kind and welcoming and made us feel at home. i cannot wait to return to orcas. i feel so inspired to emulate the kindness we were shown at my own hotel & cafe at home

Wow wow wow! If you're on Orca's Island this is a must stop place! From our delicious vanilla and hazelnut lattes to the mouth water salmon & veggie quiches, to the crisp and delicious Pain au Chocolat (chocolate pastry) everything was delightful. The croissant that had me coming back for more every time though was the croissant pêche! It was the perfect balance of fresh fruit and sweet pastry. The staff was kind and offered recommendations of their favorite dinner spots on the island. The vibe of the bakery was welcoming and had indoor and outdoor seating! The only "downside" was they had a smaller menu at the bakery than we found online. This may have been due to the fact we went on the first day it had reopened after winter break though. All in all this is a must stop place!

So many pastries!

This came highly recommended by the internet. The internet was right. The croissants were so soft and flaky and wonderful. They had multiple types. We got a spinach and feta as well as a ham and cheese. Both were fantastic. Coffee and chai were both perfect. The staff was super nice and efficient. There is indoor and outdoor seating as well as to go containers. Perfect spot to read a book while drinking your coffee or have a nice time with a friend. 10/10 recommend.

Pans and pans of yummy treats

After an eventful and beautiful camping trip at Moran State Park, we stopped here for some breakfast treats before heading back on the ferry to Anacortes. It's nestled right in the heart of the small downtown area, and it's hard to miss with a decent courtyard of people all enjoying the yummy treats in the sun. So many yummy looking treats on display. As you can see phone did not eat first here. It was so delicious! Ham and Swiss croissant so savory so flaky and the peach croissant was so good so balanced and also flaky. Service was super kind. We got a black coffee as well and you get a free refill before 4pm. A must stop on the island!

Relatively long line for 8:20 on a Friday but they were efficient. Super cute bakery with absolutely delicious food. Surprised my how many veggies were packed in

Co-owner/hug delivery service

The (often long) line is there for a reason! Think: temptation in the form of buttery scents; eager visitors and locals alike; pastries, quiche, and sandwiches crafted with artistry; and fulfillment on the first bite. (The coffee is pretty darn good as well!) Add: a beautiful team often seen delivering smiles to customers. An irresistible island stop.

Come early - there is a line for a reason! It's always hard to decide what I want but the quiche is my favorite

Apple sage scone was delicious, but the salmon quiche was extremely salty. I don't think the lines are quite justified.

We stumbled across crèmecart at the Saturday Farmers' Market on Orcas Island. The two ladies who run the crèmecart, Michelle and Sommer, sound like they are regulars at the Saturday Farmers' Market, and other island locations as well. They rotate many cool ice cream flavors and cookie combinations. Their crèmecart Facebook page listed many enticing flavors, including: butter cookie and strawberry cheesecake ice cream; dark chocolate cookie and ginger ice cream; chocolate cookie with: salted caramel ice cream or coconut ice cream or chocolate ice cream; lemon cookie with: lavender ice cream or vanilla ice cream; gluten free almond cookie with vanilla or chocolate ice cream; and on July 4th, Apple Pie Ice Cream Sandies. How fun is that? So, like any food cart, crèmecart is seasonal, and moves around following the crowds. Thankfully, Orcas is a small island, and I promise you, they are worth searching for! Five Stars.

By the time I got there, lots of the ice cream sandwiches were sold out. All of the sandwiches are prewrapped and kept cold in the cart, so once they're gone... They're really gone. The cookie was nice and soft, but firm enough to stay together. The ice cream kept cold and didn't drip all over me. I was such a happy camper with my ice cream sandwich. I sure hope I run into this cart again!!

Very impressive little store full of tons of stuff! Groceries, pantry staples, a small produce section, some premade deli food and cookies. I was looking for the bakery items. A previous review mentioned delicious homemade pastries. Finally as I choose a cookie and a salad for later I see them. A small pedestal plate with pastries. And on the countertop behind the register tons of croissants! I said, there they are! The two ladies working were not impressed. I asked for the flavors and the lady said, there is a menu right there. Ugh, not fully awake I realized a line had formed behind me. This is the spot to go before getting in a ferry. The sign was not clearly visible and I felt overwhelmed with the decision so I quickly decided on a raspberry almond. This is clearly a place for locals. Everyone knows what they want and where it is. Not super friendly vibes, but oh well. Took photos of my purchases back in my gorgeous villa LOL, watch for my next review. Super happy to discover this market! And I love a good market! Happy travels. SYOY!

There were at least a dozen food stalls selling anything from home baked bread, cookies, donuts, Mexican food, and Asian. There were stalls selling arts and crafts which are unique to Orca's. We picked up some lunch and enjoyed as the local band sweet music on the stage. A few folks and their kids got off the ground and started dancing. What a scene, as if it's out of a movie scene. Orcas has a long and rich agricultural history and I've seen plenty of farms and roadside farm stands that stood vacant in Decemeber. I was stoked for summer. Cue COVID.... Well, I'm happy to report that the market was still happening. I'm glad they didn't throw in the towel on it, though from what I'm told it was vastly different this year. Oh, you can imagine that in previous years there wasn't a mandatory handwashing station at the entrance. And I imagine there weren't dots on the ground to indicate where you should wait in order to approach each booth one party at a time. But more importantly, I'm told that the market, even though it's small and mighty in its biggest years, was only very teeny this year. There were probably 7-8 booths there, and that made for a quick visit. Still, we bought some flowers at one booth, and a bar of locally made soap at another, so we did our best to support the vendors who are making an effort despite the restrictions. I have nothing but love for a farmers market, and nothing but admiration for the participants. Though we were only here for a little bit, I'm glad we made it.
