Quiche and Erin's Elixir (matcha, turmeric, honey)

Dragonfly Coffee House is the best coffee shop in the world. Thank you to Erin who has cultivated wonderful cafe experiences in the Pacific Northwest for decades. This cozy, art filled coffee house has delicious beverages (I like Erin's Elixir, a matcha blend), great food (both quiche and hand pie were delicious) and a wonderful atmosphere. On a November Saturday she opened at 8 and there was line to come in the whole time we were there. If you are on Orcas (or really anywhere in the San Juan Islands) make your way to Dragonfly Coffee House- this place is what life is about!

It's a cute small place. My favorite drink is Diana's Dream. You should give it a try.

We visited Orcas in late April, when many businesses are closed, so were happy to find this amazing little gem open.

Free parking can be found in the parking lot. Discover is an accepted form of payment. Orders are placed and paid for at the counter. A small outdoor seating area is available as well as indoor seating. Beer and wine can be purchased. Craft coffee drinks can be ordered and enjoyed with ones' pastry order. Bread loaves/rounds can be purchased whole or can be sliced. Some breads are also available in sandwich form (roll/baguette/Rosetta). Menu offers pizza; unfortunately, we were too early for pizza. All pizzas are available as take-and-bakes. Pizza slices are not available until 11am. Sandwiches and salads can also be ordered. My wife and I shared a Cinnamon Roll for $4.75; served warm upon request. We also shared a Cheese Claw for $4; served warm upon request. We ordered a Ham & Cheese Croissant for $5.50 to eat later at our lodging. The minimal interaction with the staff was friendly. Our sweet treats were tasty and reasonably priced. Thank you, Bakery San Juan for fueling our day of fun.

The key lime pie had a perfect crust and meringue, and just enough filling. I loved the crumbly top of the muffin and whole berries. The cookie was also stuffed with ingredients in every bite and the quiche was well done! It's too bad this place is only on SJI. They would make a killing in Seattle

Great find in the cute little burg of Sidney. Fairly extensive selection of handmade pastries,…read morecookies and savory sandwiches. They even sell dog biscuits that are baked in-house. Everything looked tempting so we purchased a lot: a fig tapenade Brie sandwich (wonderful flavours, a little heavy on the bread and light on the cheese); a mango danish (delicate, crisp pastry strewn with baked mango chunks); a vegetarian pizza (cheesy and flavourful); and my favourite, an oatmeal fudge bar (like the one Starbucks used to sell, but with higher-quality ingredients and most importantly, more chocolate!). We also got a salad as a nod to nutrition, which was fresh, contained a surprising amount of bocconcini and came with a tasty vinaigrette - a little overpriced for the portion tho. Service was friendly and prompt. No seating inside, but there are a few benches outside where one can enjoy the treats if the weather's fine--and it was. 4.5

The Fickle Fig Express is a cute little bakery serving up some fabulous pastries, along with friendly service with a smile. Located on the central high street core of Sidney, make this bakery one not to miss. I was lucky they had anything left, getting here at 3pm. Cause you know how it is when it comes to bakeries - the early bird gets the worm. The Cinnamon Bun was very good & the Chocolate Almond Brownie - sensational.

This is a cute place, with ample seating, dining room style, as well as a walk up counter if you just want to grab and go. They have a bit of merch and a sunny environment. The slight bit of crisp was peak, and the flavor of the sausage was also quite good. Additionally, the egg was soft and fluffy while the cheese inside the egg was noticeably stretchy. I believe this is the second Calico Cupboard I've been to. This chain seems to place plenty of effort into setting the right vibe with its building, decorations, everything. With that in mind, I think the La Conner one probably does this better with its almost fairy tale-esque location right on the river. Aside from that, uuuuhhh, this is awkward. I came here with my mom, and she left a one star review. I believe this is the first time this has happened as I review almost every restaurant I enter, but her account is essentially inactive, appearing only to cast shame on something unpleasant. If she saw this review, she would probably be angry. But I doubt she'll ever read this (hopefully). If she does...maybe it's worth it to write a high quality review. Lmao. Eating at a restaurant with her does give me a small opportunity as I think of myself as a low maintenance customer. Conversely, she has specific requests, and I get to observe how much each restaurant is willing to accommodate. Recently, she will always order a veggie egg white omelette. She will order this whether it's on your menu or not. It needs to be egg whites, and it needs to be an omelette, not a scramble. She will basically never want breakfast meats and will probably ask for something like shrimp. Oh, and swiss cheese or mixed cheeses. And if there's bread, it has to be English muffin. Absolutely no potato stuff. Calico Cupboard, to their credit, was able to meet all of these needs except that they don't have shrimp lol. Oh, and I guess the English muffin was an extra charge. She liked the broccoli. Anyways, service was slightly delayed, which left my coffee cup temporarily empty. I guess that's objectively a hit on service. Also, she didn't like the look and texture of her English muffin. I didn't try it so I can't judge that aspect, but I guess the cut did look rather "flat" to me for some reason. So these were the, uuuuhh, "impetus," for her to find something else, and she found it on a grape. Unfortunately, I did not get a picture of this before the waitress took it to the kitchen, but it was some small....white.....thing. In my personal opinion, I could not tell what it was at all, and it could've been some small disfigured piece of egg or cheese, but she was adamant that it was a "bug." And basically demanded to know why the kitchen didn't clean their fruits. The waitress agreed (or at least pretended to agree) that it looked off and went to the kitchen with it. However, the back of the house was not so easily intimidated and maintained that they did clean their fruits and there was nothing wrong with it. As a result, even though the waitress apologized, we did not get a discount for the "bug," which obviously put her in a bad mood. I did at least take a picture of my own fruits, with the grapes towards the front. But naturally, I was unable to capture the same, errr, contaminant.
