TLDR: 2 stars because I didn't get the 2nd session that I PAID $500 (+$50 for tip) for due to unresponsiveness and poor customer service. I think for $500, you all can go to a microblading place that has an established office instead of at home so you're guaranteed your services. I originally went to Betsy when she was still in Irvine. Her customer service initially was amazing and we booked the appointment in one night. Her practice, at least in Irvine, was located at her personal home. July 24, 2018: I went into my first session expecting a consultation and examples of what my brows would look like, but once I got there she had me lay down and started putting on the numbing gel. I was kind of confused b/c I wanted to talk about my brow shape more and be more comfortable about the whole process. Once a little bit of time passed, she asked what brows I wanted and I said "soft arch". That was all. Then she started going in on my brows and honestly I didn't fall in love with them right after. They were way different than how I usually fill them in. Omg it also hurt soooo bad. I was definitely tense and lowkey pinched myself the entire time to take away from the pain. That's not her fault though, I'm probably just a wimp when it comes to pain like that. After the session, she told me to schedule the 2nd session in a month or so. August 5th, 2018: Knowing that she was relocating to San Francisco soon, I texted her to schedule an appointment. No reply until I double texted on August 8th. She was planning a show in SF and was going to officially move on August 15th and told me she was going to transfer all her clients to another artist she partnered with. Okayyyyy so if you knew you were going to move within a month of my first session, shouldn't you have made this transparent to begin with? I thought it was fine, though, because she was going to transfer me to another lady. August 9th, 2018: I text the other lady and she's like, okay it'll be $180. I already paid Betsy $500 so I was not going to pay another $180 for something that was supposed to be included. Teri said she would talk with Betsy. August 25th, 2018: Betsy finally texts me and says she's going to be in Socal in a couple weeks to do her touch up herself. I say "Sounds good. When will you be in the area?". I wanted to solidify a date right then and there but she said that she needs to get her schedule worked out and it'll be sometime in September and that she'll keep me updated. FAST FORWARD TO TWO MONTHS LATER: OCTOBER 29TH, 2018. I was just going to forget about it and write a review, but I'm nice and didn't want to blast her like this without giving her yet another chance to redeem herself. On Monday (10/29), I texted her that it's been a while and I was wondering if I was ever going to receive the touch-up. It's Wednesday, October 31 and I didn't get a response. Honestly, this would have all been fine if we were personal friends OR if I got discounted/refunded but I was a stranger AND a client. This was super unprofessional and I understand that she's a student, but I am too and I even understand that if you're going to charge the full price of $500, I expect to receive the entire service I paid for. If I did this to a client, I would definitely reimburse some money to mitigate the situation. I just don't think you should be running your own practice if you can't carry out what your clients pay for. Now my brows aren't going to last the amount they should have and they've already faded quite a bit. I still need to fill in my brows/put on brow gel and that totally defeated the purpose of me getting this treatment. :( read more

I really wanted to like Betsy's work because she was so sweet, but when you're providing a service, I definitely expect more prompt communication and accommodation. I understand life happens and that people get busy. I took off 2 stars because of Betsy's unresponsiveness and lack of accommodation. I paid Betsy $500 PLUS tip for her microblading service. During the first appointment, I expressed to Betsy that I have quite oily skin and was considering powder ombre because I wanted to cover up a previous artist's work that faded pink on my brow tail ends. Betsy recommended microblading anyway and went forward with that. During the healing process, it wasn't long before the pigment didn't stay and the tail ends fell off to reveal some of the old work that was pink. At this point I was slightly apprehensive but hopeful that Betsy could fix this during my Touch-Up. I told her my fear of wasting time and money and asked again for powder ombre. Through text, she reassured me she would "mix the two" methods (microblading & powder ombre). When I finally saw her for my Touch-Up on 11/9, she did not mix the two at all. No powder ombre was done. She just microbladed with darker ink and scraped harder into the tail ends. Needless to say, this did not work.. my tail ends are still pink and the rest of my brows look like nothing was done. I reached out to her on 11/14 with my concern. It's now 12/16 and I haven't received a response. To get the most out of your $500, I highly recommend going elsewhere. read more

I've always been one of those girls who is afraid of doing any kind of modification to my body let alone my face. But at the same time I always admire girls who do and end up having great results. Well, finally I am one of those girls! Betsy might be young but she has an eye for style and beauty! Because let's face it, beauty industry might be easy to get into but if you want to stay in it you need to know what looks good. And Betsy does! I've always had very very thin to non existing eyebrows and while I may know what looks good, I can't draw makeup for s**t. I've always dreaded doing my eyebrows whenever I put on makeup because they always end up looking crooked or different in sizes. I've accepted the fact that I'm just not one of those girls who can magically transform their face with their brows...until I had them done by Betsy! Betsy is extremely meticulous with her work. But what's more important is that she knows what looks good with my facial features. I pretty much left it all to her to design a shape and style for me and she didn't disappoint! After the first session my brows already started to look so much more in shape, but after the touchup I was pretty much amazed! I'm so happy with the result I can't stop staring at myself. I don't think my eyebrows have ever looked this good while still looking natural and subtle. She truly is an artist! Betsy did an amazing job at giving my bare brows some definition. She was very courteous & professional. She made scheduling easy and was willing to answer any questions I had. It was painful... but beauty is pain, right? Lol. Well, micro-blading is exactly that... micro cuts with a blade. For an hour of slight discomfort (or more depending on ur pain tolerance), u get hopefully a year of easy brows to maintain. Hoping mine keep since my face seems to reject ink, but thatz my problem. I love my new brows! I've been interested in filling my sparse brows for a long time and I'm so glad I finally went for it. I have oily skin and work 12 hours shifts, so it has been difficult for me to keep makeup on me for a very long time. I had my brows done with ombre technique 2 years ago and they had obviously significantly faded and needed touch up. I went to Betsy for microblading and had a wonderful experience. She was able to accommodate my nightshift work schedule and fit me in right away. It is a little bit of a painful process in the beginning but she kept adding more numbing agent and I actually fell asleep while she was doing my brows. Betsy had such attention to detail and I knew I was in great hands. She really took her time using precision to create the shape for my brows and also made sure to use the right blend of pigments to ensure a natural shade and undertone. She made sure that I was comfortable and not in pain and used excellent practice to ensure cleanliness and safety. Because I have light hair and features she even used a smaller tool with more natural and subtle strokes and really blended each stroke with my natural hairs. I didn't really realize how sparse my eyebrows had become and how I had a lot of areas missing hair. I'm not even used to seeing myself with proper full and youthful brows until now- and I know it will take some getting used to.
