The first time, they replaced a spark plug, costing me about $200. Two weeks later, the light returned. This time a $687 repair for a completely different issue. Less than two weeks after that, the light came on again. On my third visit, even though their posted opening time is 9 a.m., the technician, Randy, didn't actually show up until after 9:08. He was rude, didn't greet me, and dismissed my concerns instead of offering any apology or empathy. He handed me a paper with another new code and quoted labor costs of $160, with no parts even required. Despite their supposed warranty, I've had to return repeatedly. Each time, a new code, a new cost, and dismissive treatment. Randy even remarked that my car is old and implied I should expect ongoing issues. Yet this doesn't excuse poor service. If I could give zero stars, I would. I can't recommend this shop to anyone looking for accountability or respect.

I've been taking my 2002 Toyota Tacoma to Alonso's for many years and, until recently, always had…read moregreat service. Unfortunately, over the last couple of years, that has changed. About a year and a half ago, they recommended replacing part of my front suspension (I believe the struts). When I picked up my truck, it had a loud clunking noise over every bump. I took it back, and the owner rode with me, heard the noise, and had it corrected. After that, the clunking was gone. A short time later, I started hearing a metallic clanking from the left rear of the truck. When I looked underneath, I found a hammer lodged near the rear axle housing that had been left behind during the repair. I removed it and returned it to the shop. The employee simply thanked me--no apology or acknowledgment that leaving a tool on a customer's vehicle was unacceptable. Then, about two weeks ago, I brought my truck in for a routine oil change and tire rotation. About a week later, I noticed one of my rear wheel center caps was missing. Since the center cap is retained by the lug nuts, it doesn't simply fall off, I am sure they forgot to put it on when they rotated my tires. I called the shop, but they said they weren't aware of forgetting to put on my Toyota center cap, nor do they have one sitting around that may be mine. As a result, I'm shopping on eBay to replace it. Not good..!! I don't know what has changed, but the attention to detail at Alonso's isn't what it used to be. Unfortunately, they've lost my business. I can't recommend them anymore. If you do choose to use them, inspect your vehicle carefully before you leave. I should have done the same instead of driving off after a service and assuming I received the same quality service I'd experienced for so many years.

Eddie, the son's owner was willing to stay after hours to wait for my car to be dropped in their garage. AAA took over 2.5hrs to get to the garage, I dropped the key in the slot. He came to the garage early in the following morning to inspect my car. He ordered the part and charged me under $1500, which was just amazing! I wasn't from Upland, had to pay for a hotel, pay for my food and my lfyt rides to get an around. So they helped me out so much (I'm tearing up just writing this) Upon speaking to his Dad, I found out Eddie works on his whole families vehicles.. from Benz to Beemers. That his Dad is proud of what he has built and even more proud of the type of mechanic (little) Eddie is. That they believe in customer service versus charging customers ridiculous prices. We came to Express Smog & Lube in Montclair a couple weeks ago. This place does more than smog and lube. They also do car repairs. One stop shop for your car maintenance needs! We spoke with George, the owner. He was very nice and helpful. He explained the process he would take to assess the leak and what would be entailed to fix it. Thank you George for taking the time to speak with us and sharing good information. Today I called them to schedule an appointment. I spoke with Danny. He was very kind and helpful. I need to get it up to good running order but as we all know going to a shop is an inconvenience, especially if it sits there for a few days. This is still being driven as my daily driver so I needed quick and expedited work. I contacted Mike on Friday and he said he had an opening for the following Monday, which was perfect with this speedy response. Mike communicated, on the Monday, that he was on the way. When he arrived I discussed the issue I wanted taken care of and he got straight to work sourcing parts and their prices. Within the span of 5 minutes he broke down the parts prices and his labor cost, which was well worth it for a mobile mechanic. He also told me it would be done today. Mike started at 9 am and finished around 12:30ish. He replaced my leaking water pump, belts, coolant, thermostat, and a tensioner. When it came time to pay he even told me the price lowered due to reusing the coolant. Of course I paid him the initial stated price. His honesty was well worth the full price and more. I am more than happy with Mike and his friendly service. He communicated every step of the repairs with pictures of bad parts and new parts. I locked Mike in my phone for future work that may need to be done. I recommend and will continue to hire Mike for all my vehicle service needs.
