Everything was so wonderful about the little gem of a cafe! I'm here from Chicago for work and was so happy to find a nice cafe with great coffee. The decor is thoughtful and inviting and there are tons of places to sit including the upstairs and a small room for a more intimate experience. Service was great and the woman tending was friendly and even made gorgeous latte art. I'm so happy that I'm here for another day so I can visit this cafe again tomorrow morning! read more

Ordering was fast and friendly. My chai was delicious. I also tried the special waffle. The apple and honey combination was wonderful. I wish the waffle had arrived to the table warm though. Butter on the waffle never melted. The space is bright and airy. We really enjoyed ourselves and will be back. read more

We were driving through Illinois and desperate for lunch and coffee. As we looked for a coffee shop with good food this place appeared on Yelp. We were excited to find a place that looked so cute in such a small town. We were not disappointed. The staff were friendly and fast. The food and lattes were delicious. There is even a lovely space in the loft with tables, a couch, kid toys and games. I wish I got a picture of our food, but we were so hungry we dug right in before getting a pic. read more

Lovely little place in the heart of Amish country, with the rustic charm of a modern farmhouse and the home-iness of a small business. Prices are fair and reasonable. The food is fresh and lovingly prepared. Try the blackberry ice cream; it's divine! Their toast and jam was a crowd favorite, supplied with local strawberry jam that was such a delight that my party asked where we could grab some for ourselves as gifts for friends. My deluxe sandwich was satisfying without being overly greasy. I'd say their coffee is also a step into the gourmet side, with the cafe worker raving about the different notes and offering recommendations. The cafe was very cute and comfortable, a few booths and tables downstairs and a couple private tables upstairs. The grilled cheese was awesome, bread had great flavor, the chips & salsa was great too. ( salsa was made fresh). Prices were very reasonable, would highly recommend for lunch. read more

Recommended from a local friend and father in law, decided to swing by and grab a cup of drip coffee. Interior is aesthetically pleasing with modern lighting, modern rustic decor, and live green plants. The drip coffee was brewed well, bringing out the great flavor of the coffee beans. Love how they use local ingredients to support local businesses. Saw an employee bring out freshly made muffins, and I had to try one. I ordered a blueberry muffin and sure was delicious. It had a nice sugary crusty top, and a warm and moist center. Great place to study, work remotely, or to take your significant other on a date. Nice, sprawling wide open space, no problem at all finding seating- plenty of tables, each stocked with either a game or book. Relatively smallish menu with breakfast items. To be fair, there may be more on the menu than I noticed as we just came for coffee. I did see a freezer with about 8 flavors of ice cream. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his espresso. I took one star off because my latte wasn't as hot as it should/could be though the flavor was good (lavender). Prices are reasonable and there is plenty of street parking. read more

We found this cute little place by accident while on the road. If you love ingenious remodeling of old buildings, you will enjoy this cafe, which is tucked into a tiny old bank building. To my pleasure, they have a leaf tea menu and know how to brew a nice cup. Their coffee actually elicited a "good" from my picky husband, who usually will grant an "OK" to most coffee houses. They make a really good breakfast platter with products from local farmers. The eggs have the real farm-fresh taste that can't be faked, and the bacon is great. It's definitely worth a stop! read more

This is a great place with a cool atmosphere and amazing ownership. They use Colombia Street coffee which is roasted in Champaign. The staff is knowledgeable about coffee, and have a great selection of food options. Hopefully Arcola and surrounding areas can support such a unique place for a small town! Well worth the visit and a hang. read more

If you haven't been to Broomtown yet then you are missing out! It's in the mix of the historic buildings on Mainstreet and you can see the history of the building when you enter. Great coffee, tea and pastries along with a growing entree menu. It's the perfect place to meet friends, do homework, or have a business meeting. They have an online ordering option from their website that I often take advantage of! With curbside, to-go, online ordering, and walk-in they cater to everyone during COVID. read more

This place is so good local Mennonite women pop in. And they have Autumn Squash soup on special today. My wife went to the bathroom and I heard some distinct paper tearing sounds. I think those were the divorce papers and she is now reconsidering leaving me because I stopped here without warning and she loves squash soups. Thanks Broomtown! This place is a gem! Made the little trip from Charleston this morning after seeing some promising pictures and this place did not disappoint! The food is unlike other breakfast food in the area in a good way. Not overly greasy and served with an apple, the sandwich was seasoned perfectly and left me full but not stuffed. The food was obviously fresh and cooked to order. It was a one man show this morning so I may not recommend for those in a hurry or wanting a quick breakfast to go, but the wait was super short all things considered. And to the man who was working - well done! It's impressive when one person can make coffees, food, bus tables, and ring folks up all while keeping things moving smoothly. Local or not, this little cafe' is worth the drive...a gem! Bright cheerful decor in historic downtown Arcola. It features loft and outdoor seating. The menu is limited, but the items are high quality. Staff is super friendly. Highly recommend! My favorite item is the Santa Fe Salad. I add chicken, bacon, guacamole, and sometimes a side of chips/hummus. Hours are limited. read more

What a great place! If you're in Arcola, or even just passing by on 57, you need to stop in. Great space in a historic bank; fabulous, friendly and efficient staff; and wonderful coffees, teas, and snacks. Had a great breakfast sandwich and an Iced Americano. At first, we were confused as GPS took us to a bicycle shop but once we go out and walked around, we found where to get our caffeine. My dad isn't used to getting coffees from anything over than his coffee pot at home so he ordered the same thing I always get: iced americano. We waited about 5 minutes to get our drinks and then we dipped out to start our adventures for the day. We got to my car and took a few sips to get us energized for the trip to Brookfield and I have to say, the americano from Recreation was really good. It was dark and bitter, just how I like it. My dad tried his first americano and really liked it. He drinks his coffee like I do. Black. So, it's no surprise he could handle the bitterness just as well as me. Recreation was nice little stop to get some caffeine. The baristas were super nice. The place is fairly smaller on the inside so if you have a large group of people, you may need to take the place over or take your drinks elsewhere. Overall, pretty cool place to get some coffee, just don't let the bicycle shop store front fool ya. Recreation has it's own door to enter from outside.

Broomtown Cafe is such a charming spot in downtown Arcola! The historic building gives it a cozy vibe, and the staff are always warm and welcoming.
