I grew up going to Flesor's Candy Kitchen in the 60's-70's sitting at their original soda fountain drinking handmade cherry colas. The granddaughters of the original owners brought it back to life & it is even better than before, IMO. The candies are quite exceptional, and they are made by hand on-site every day. The chocolates are truly incomparable, but for me, it has always been their caramel. And I've tried a LOT of caramel in different cities & countries, but absolutely nothing compares to theirs. I now live 1000 miles away. But when I visit, I ALWAYS stop to visit the owners & buy a box of my favorites. Luckily, they also ship & I've taken advantage of that more than a few times...for others & myself. If you are even close to the area, go visit this 1901 confectionary for lunch & some divine hand-dipped chocolates & a caramel apple. You will not regret it. read more

Oh, this is a charmer with great owners and staff. A gorgeous restaurant and candy shop with original century old elements and incredible food. Gyros, spanikopita, salads, soups, chicken salad, etc. are all exceptional. The chocolates and ice crram are also great (the peanut butter pudding chocolates, turtles, and peanut butter ice cream are faves). I love the green rivers from the soda fountain. Highly recommend!!! read more

What a special throw back to old time candy. Huge selection of handmade chocolate. As well as hard candies. Yummy

Candy shop only review. Way overpriced - $35.00 for a half pound of butter creams and a half pound of turtles. Butter creams are my yardstick for candy stores. These had a coating of chocolate thinner than the candy shell on an M & M and weren't all that tasty. The turtles were actually pretty good. read more

FLESOR'S IS AMAZING! This is the second time my father and I have been there for lunch in the last month. The owner is so kind and always makes sure to make everyone feel welcome! The staff is friendly and fun and the food is so good! The first time we went my dad had the fried catfish and this time he had the cod and he said it is the best fish he's ever had. The building is historical and beautiful. This is a spot to stop and enjoy! We will be back soon!! read more

Came here for the first time today because my mother in law highly recommended it. It's in a small town and was established in 1901. It's under construction but still up and running. The old school feel is such a cool experience to see and very nostalgic. The original soda and ice cream makers are still here! Food and staff were super friendly and will accommodate any requests. The candy is amazing and it's definitely worth coming through anytime you're visiting. read more

You step back in time when you enter into a place from when soda shops were the thing, having that ambiance. Good homestyle food, and FANTASTIC homemade candies. Never a complaint with the service, treating you as a friend once you walk in until you walk out. read more

What a pleasant afternoon spent at Flesor's. My parents had made the trip to Tuscola from Effingham several weeks prior and loved the food and atmosphere so much that they wanted to bring us. The woman working behind the candy counter caught wind that we were from Pittsburgh and kindly let us see in the back where the magic happens. Devon was so kind and welcoming - letting us see how the turtles are prepared back in the kitchen. I love that they are keeping the family tradition alive. This is the perfect place to stop for a home cooked breakfast/lunch. My Reuben was super tasty and so were the fries. The candy counter gal was super helpful when it came to picking out the perfect box of chocolates. I can't wait to visit again! What a great experience. read more

So sweet. Had a solid lunch on a road trip to memphis. Loved the original Soda Shop vibe. Glad we stopped!!

Step back into the "old days" that's part of the fun, however, man alive it's hit or miss on service and attitudes here! It's wonderful to support local and even better when it's generations run (obviously my opinion) but have mercy, the attitudes and rudeness of the gals in there at times is something atrocious! I will still support but not nearly as often. I hope the up coming generations realize people do business with people they like and when you treat people small, unkindly or get snippy with them it will end up costing you. Just be kind, smile and don't treat customers like they don't matter. Hope to see those changes and still support b/c it could be something even more special if openness was an option to better their service! It is pricey but when you pay local and support good & kind people I don't mind it's when the sass and rude take over that I mind supporting. Give it a try and hopefully you stop on a happy day! read more

My son and I stopped by the Candy Kitchen before heading home. I got a soup and 1/2 but and her got a cheeseburger with fries. The waitress was kind and efficient. We sat in a booth and my son enjoyed his view of the soda counter. (There was a boil order otherwise we would've tried the soda! We will come back with the rest of the fam ) we bought some gummy bears and chocolate covered pretzels to go and it was yummy! read more

Flesor's Candy Kitchen is an old school diner in downtown Tuscola. If you have a sweet tooth or just want a quality burger while in downtown, Flesor's has you covered. They have a large selection of white, dark, milk chocolates, caramels, combos, truffles, and candied popcorn. We went in for a treat after an afternoon of shopping. I had an old school chocolate shake with fries and tasted my sisters cherry soda. It was all very delicious and hit the spot on a crummy day outside. Come on over to Tuscola and have a treat. My sisters boyfriend was from NYC and when they dropped off the bill he picked it up and his jaw dropped because of how great everything was, how nice the service was and how affordable the whole treat was. read more

The treats and candies are wonderful! The ambience has a sweet small town feel. The historic building is beautiful inside and does not disappoint. Booths with no padding, but very quaint. Friendly staff and owners. This place is wonderful for a coffee meet-up with friends. The food however, leaves much to be desired. The soup tastes like they opened a can and put it in a pan and warmed it up. I would still go back for the experience...just wouldn't eat a meal there. read more

Waitress took drink order, receivers drink shortly after. Waited nearly 30 minutes to have my order taken. The two families that came in behind me were finishing their meals, by the time my order was taken. This was not the first time this has happened but it will be the last time. read more

Food ok. Service ok. Don't wear T*ump merch or you'll be insulted by the owner like my 13-yo brother. Not impressive. Good pancakes but nothing else worth noting read more

Flesor's is beyond a doubt one of my favorite places on earth. Homemade candy, just exactly like grandma's and that includes melt in your mouth divinity and fudge. The soda fountain remains in all its glory and you can dine in the adorable cafe. Tin ceiling. Tile floor. Marble counters. This place is the same place where your grandparents or great grands met and fell in love. And you will too. With a Flesor's and it's historic wonderfulness. Make it a destination stop! read more

If you happen to live nearby or are passing by Tuscola I recommend trying this little restaurant/candy shoppe. It's a nice old fashioned place complete with a old style soda maker. And let me tell you this place offers some old style soda - the kind of soda you could only have back in the 1950s or 60s. It's basically just syrup. Very tasty but very sweet. Definitely worth trying. They can custom make a bunch of varieties of flavors. They offer a variety of sandwiches, soups, salads and breakfast food. I had the steak sandwich and it was awesome. Afterwards I suggest you peruse their selection of sweets such as candy apples and chocolate. Overall a very pleasant visit. I'm sure you will enjoy it! read more

Food was overpriced for what our family got, and I feel like we were being charged to help save the place. when I say overpriced, I mean a couple hundred which the amount of food we got was NOWHERE near that price. the candy is amazing but I would not recommend having a party or gathering there. read more

You MUST stop by Flesor's if you are in the Tuscola area or passing by. I've always encountered genuinely kind and efficient service from staff, and delicious savory meals and sweet treats. I stumbled upon Flesor's while visiting downtown Tuscola for tattoo sessions at Vintage Karma across the street. Long sessions make me hungry, and Flesor's does not disappoint! On my most recent visit, I tried the turkey bacon club sandwich. It was delicious and filling. I decided to try a 1/2 pound box of dark chocolate sea salt caramels. Absolutely yummy! My favorite candy of all time. Tuscola's downtown is worth visiting, so stop by Flesor's and wonder around. read more

This place is awesome! The candy and ice cream are amazing. Would've like to try lunch but we had already eaten at a not so good place.

What an adorable spot for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, you name it. Lucky I turned to yelp when I did for lunch during my roadtrip to Nashville through rural Illinois! I saw the menu and it seemed pretty basic American food/diner food. I got the cheeseburger with all the fixings and the boyfriend chose a turkey BLT. Looking at the pictures of the menu, I thought the prices must have been from at least a decade ago. But nope, that's just the old town feel and prices for most all the lunch prices were under $7! Couldn't believe it. Service was great even though they had a packed house (on a Thursday afternoon!). I would be happy to come back here to support this mom and pop shop whenever in the neighborhood. They also have an instagram worthy wall outside! This establishment was what America feels like. read more

This place is amazing. Service was amazing I recommend a BLT. I would definitely recommend their best server Ashley.

This place is darling!! We go to Tuscola at least a couple times a year for the outlet mall, but on our way today my husband had me look for an ice cream place, and we got to experience a little of the sweetness of downtown Tuscola. I love seeing little towns being brought back to life, and there's a lot of that going on here! We had already had lunch, unfortunately, so we didn't get to try any of the food. But we will be coming back for sandwiches next time we are in town! We sat at the counter and enjoyed the atmosphere and old-timey ambiance. My son totally loved his first ever ice cream soda (strawberry!) from the soda fountain, and the rest of us had phenomenal hand-dipped homemade ice cream. My teen daughters had lemon chiffon, my husband had red raspberry, and I had a very rich Paul's Pecan Favorite (turtle). They were all delicious. We had the loveliest conversations with the lady working the candy counter, and bought a few of the amazing homemade candies--caramels, peanut butter puddings, orange cream gummy bears, and cherry sours. And we drooled over all the others we saw! It was all-around delightful, and we will surely go back every time we go to Tuscola! read more

What a great place for a quiet breakfast. Food was very good and the service even better.

On a Saturday morning at 10:45 my husband and I went to this restaurant for breakfast. They stop serving breakfast at 10 am. The coffee wasn't hot. We ordered clam chowder and it wasn't hot. I looked around for our server and she was no where in sight. I walked the soup to the door of the kitchen and asked if I could have the soup heated up. I was given a lecture by a young women in the kitchen that I needed to respect her kitchen and I should have told my server and the server would communicate with her. She was VERY nasty. We will likely never return to this restaurant. read more

Hey folks, Truthfully, I am a little biased. One: this is my workplace. I am a soda-jour and buser. Two: I grew up in Tuscola, therefore, I am a candy kitchen "local". However, I am a newbee to Yelp, but I thought it rather virtue-less to neglect my own restaurant of a review. If you don't appreciate my partiality you must stop reading now. The Candy kitchen is a one-of-kind, gem from your childhood place. We serve only the "good" stuff, or should I say the bad stuff (because it is bad for your health). Homemade everything here: Chocolate candies, brittle, nutty bark, coffee bark, caramel in all forms, nutty clusters, ice creams, sundaes, sodas, etc.! Our restaurant is a family owned business, one that has been in the family for three generations and reopened only recently about 10 years ago. Everything in the store is refurbished from its original proceedings way back in 1901. The store is the definition of endearing with a touch of romanticism. Breakfast begins at 6 and goes until 10; Our lunch is served from 11-3! We stay opened until 5. Our menu contains a variety of items ranging from a Gyro and Greek salad (the owners heritage) and a burger! The service is fast and we our proud of our place. Home is where the heart is.... (And chocolate, right?) P.S. List of my favorites include: Dark honey salted caramels Dark turtles Any cluster Vanilla creams Chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream Coconut ice cream Any milkshake (peanut butter... Yummmm) Chocolate soda Fruit and nut salad Any soup!!! Reuben Gus burger Tea! read more

I've eaten lunch here twice. Beyond cute interior--totally old fashioned and adorable. The menu is small but they have a home style feature every day if you don't want one of their regular sandwiches or salads and the prices are fantastic. I had the Reuben the first time and some amazing Greek lasagna thing that I can't spell or pronounce and the most enormous 'side' Greek salad for $6.95 the second time. Get a scoop of homemade ice cream for dessert. They'll serve it in a nostalgic little cup with a spoon that will remind you of your grandma. Or buy your weight in candy--you know, whatever floats your boat. I had mint chocolate chip and ate every bite and I'm not really an ice cream girl. Service is friendly and attentive and very fast. My one caveat--this is a family business and they close whenever they damn well please regardless of the hours the have posted. I've tried to have lunch 3 other times when they closed more than an hour early each time. read more

Sandwiches were ok. I had the Philly Cheesesteak and it was tasty. Someone nearby had the turkey club which looked much more impressive. Sandwich envy....
