The granddaughters of the original owners brought it back to life & it is even better than before, IMO. The candies are quite exceptional, and they are made by hand on-site every day. The chocolates are truly incomparable, but for me, it has always been their caramel. And I've tried a LOT of caramel in different cities & countries, but absolutely nothing compares to theirs. I now live 1000 miles away. But when I visit, I ALWAYS stop to visit the owners & buy a box of my favorites. Luckily, they also ship & I've taken advantage of that more than a few times...for others & myself. If you are even close to the area, go visit this 1901 confectionary for lunch & some divine hand-dipped chocolates & a caramel apple. You will not regret it.

Highly recommend!!!

We had to say "uh we've never been here before". We then got sat. We knew they had the addition of pizza to their menu, so we got some cheese breadsticks. They could've been left in the oven for a few more minutes. It just didn't have a lot of color. We got a bbq chicken pizza that was decent, but didn't have a lot of sauce and the crust tasted like it was a frozen pre-made crust. The dining room was clean, but the service and food left something to be desired. We'll be back for the bakery items because they looked very appealing and we've had them in the past, but we're hard pressed to come back for pizza.

Probably the worst ordering system I've ever encountered. In fact some jerk cut in front of me and another person because of this failed system. It didn't take long to get and have to say, food was good. The burger seemed a tad smaller than other locations. Food was a more expensive than other locations too, Springfield location is the worst and most expensive though. They don't have indoor seating, fyi. In fact, it had the complete opposite effect on them; from viewing the trees, given an apple growth lesson, learning how apples are pollinated and viewing the bees, learning how the apples are sorted and viewing the large washing/sorter machine and seeing how the apples are stored in the large refrigerator. We enjoyed our lunch while eating apple donuts and drinking apple slushes. We spent time at the playground before departing back to school. It was so exciting to see homemade jams, freshly picked peaches and cider. I ended up getting the cutest soy eucalyptus candle, a bunch of ciders, a measurement shot glass, kettle popcorn and organic bug repellent. All things I never knew I needed, until now :) I wish this shop was bigger and more expansive but I'd be in trouble because I'd end up buying more than I bargained for. The home made cider was incredible. They made it into a slushee and it was so good, ended up getting two cups full and then two for the road. It was also neat that the cider didn't need to be refrigerated, making it so much easier to transport cross country. The staff here was also super friendly and welcoming which also is an added plus. Highly recommend stopping here if you ever find yourself in Sullivan, Illinois!
