We were in the area and just stopped in to see what they had to offer. It's a large store with tons of goods. My only disappointment was that they didn't have a bakery, as I would have loved to have some fresh Amish baked pastries such as Dutch letters, etc. That said, their prices seemed fair and I would shop here if I lived in the area. read more

Beachy's in an amazing Amish store! Almost everything is homemade and handmade. I truely wish we had this store in california. If I lived close by I would shop here on a regular basis. This is an amazing Amish bulk food store. They have a large variety of most anything you are looking for. The place is clean and the aisles are wide and well stocked. They have a lot of packaged food as well as fresh baked goods. The staff is super friendly and polite. I actually haven't met a rude Amish person yet also I've heard stories. The best thing about shopping here as an Easterner is something I found here I haven't found in the Midwest in almost 40 years, so happy! read more

This is a terrific Amish bulk market with the freshest of locally grown vegetables at amazing prices. I especially love to find Amish markets on my travels because they always provide the BEST variety of baking supplies you could ever begin to even imagine, from specialty flours and every type of sugar/sweeteners known to man, on up to the biggest varieties of jimmies,sprinkles, glitters, luster dust, natural flavorings, etc. If you are a baker, this is a MUST stop and you can take your baked goods up a serious notch with the inexpensive fresh Amish rolled butter. This store is outfitted to provide for the Amish community, so you will find anything you could possibly need under the expansive roof at beyond reasonable prices! Originally stopped for my "small" baking obsession, returned 45 minutes later after visiting pumpkin patch down road and bought 10 realistically priced ($6.99) GINORMOUS pumpkins vs the price gouging "patch"! Beachy's was recommended to us while we were selling at Gathering on the Prairie antique show next door at the Otto Center. Beachy's was just what we needed. We loaded up on some healthy, and not so healthy, snacks for the show and I ordered a fantastic and flavorful made to order Taco Salad for lunch one day and savored every bite! Beachy's Bulk Foods is set away from the town. Inside it is packed with a few bakery items (whoopie pies, fudge, fruit pies), cheeses, logs of butter, soda and frozen meats. The shelves are full of bulk items, anything you can think of! Candy (lots of candy), spices, flours, pastas, cake & cookie decorations, nuts, grains, flavorings, mixes, snicky-snacks (such as, many flavors of yogurt covered pretzels!) and more! Also they sell Melissa & Doug toys and some books (Amish stories). BRING CASH, no credit or debit cards accepted! The GPS took us to the other CR 200 that runs parallel to this CR 200, it was a little confusing... Look for the small signs that are posted. read more

Wow, I can't believe I'm only the second person to review Beachy's! You simply must come see it to see why I am giving it a 5 star! It is in a very unassuming white barn-like building on the side of a pebbled country road in Amish country. But the outside conceals an amazing selection of bulk grains, flours, spices, nuts and baking supplies. I am very familiar with quinoa, wheat berries, flax seeds and such...but even I am still finding things I have not cooked with here. I found spelt and spelt flour there the last time. And then there are also a large selection of gluten free baking supplies. And did I mention the spices??? They are packed in containers large and small...just mind boggling. It's a stop whenever we travel to Northern Illinois. We always time it to get sandwiches for lunch. They make the best deli sandwiches. Not skimpy, they pile on the meat. And toppings. Always good. Our family have been going to Beachys bulk food for over 15 years. We go in the spring and fall to stock up our pantries. This is a must stop, place in Arthur along with Cheese and more, then Dutch Valley meats. The food and price but mostly the quality of no preservatives from these shops make the trip from St.Louis Missouri worthwhile. I can't imagine not making out trips, we bring plenty of bags and coolers, especially for all the food we come home with each trip. The town and people are so nice and helpful, if you haven't visited this Amish town you need too. Plus I put orders in for holidays, as Cheese and more ships, Nichola is the best. read more

Its okay as I heard rave reviews about it. I had some of their food this past Thanksgiving and it was good, but okay it depends on what your tastes are. The coleslaw was good( Im not a coleslaw person but this was good) and the turkey was smoked was okay, but a tad dry. I like the coconut cream pie the best. When I was little I dreamed of having Lucky Charms that were ALL marshmallows. Beachy's made that dream come true. Beachy's carries bulk food, and yes, bulk cereal marshmallows. It is the most magical place on earth (or at least southern IL). This store has amazing items....and for a good price. If I had a "Best of all the places I've Reviewed" list, this place would be right up there. What it lacks on show (and location) it devastates with in terms of selection and unbelievable prices. Yes, it's a bulk foods store, and yes, it helps to know your way around a kitchen to shop here, but this is a bulk foods holy land. I can't think of another place that sells 4 kinds of birch beer in the midwest, or showcases such an unbelievable selection at unbelievably cheap prices. read more

As a student of EIU, we were bored and decided to check out some Amish facilities. Stumbled across this odd grocery store and have sought to return ever since graduating. One of the best grocery stores (or stores in general) I have ever been to. They have an incredible amount of dried goods. Any time of flour or spice you've ever wanted is here. I would always stock up on TVP, flax seed, and weird candies. I will throw all my money at this place because I support there simple lifestyle. If your a cook, the store allow's you to let your imagination run wild with the sheer number and variety of spices, seasonings, flavorings, flours, grains available. Even if cooking isn't your thing, you can still spend hours just browsing and discovering items you almost literally won't find anywhere else. I won't say their products are inexpensive, but, they are very affordable. So my response is generally...just buy more. An amazing place tucked in the middle of central Illinois Amish country-where I grew up. I live in Chicago now, but still drive to Beachy's every couple of months to restock my pantry. Had their pecan rolls for breakfast this morning, and they are the best I've ever had--ever! Tried their caramels and candies and cookies--all delicious. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! When you decide to visit, plan on bringing double the cash you think you will need! They do not accept debit/credit cards The friendship bread, sweet rolls, moon pies, fruit pies, all homemade! Soo Good! The first row of canning accessories is so varied I cannot list them all, just know if you need it to can you will probably find it there and at an extremely fair price. You then get into regular store items, but take a walk through these aisles, you will be amazed at some finds nestled in. Then you come upon the bulk section of the store, at least 3 aisles the length of the store. You will find various flours, grains, candy, herbs, spices, some homemade, some placed in well proportioned cantainers. Next aisles have toys, office, and house supplies. My last trip i scored wonderful wooden spoons priced between .99 to 1.99. My next trip I want to upgrade my knives, good quality with fair prices. I highly recommend this jewel of retail to anyone who enjoys finding fantastic surprises and treasures. Maybe I'll see you on my next trip, I'll be the one mumbling in the bulk aisles... Oh, Wow... Bulk packages of everything you can think of - flours, sugars, spices, nuts, pie fillings, oats, beans, lentils, soup mixes. Plus every jam and jelly imaginable, pickles, salsa, fresh local produce, baked goods (breads, buns, cinnamon rolls, angel food cakes, whoopie pies, sticky buns), a deli with sliced meats and cheeses, frozen fruits and pie shells, cheese curds, pasta, and eggs. Not to mention all kinds of snacks, chips, crackers, candy, and dried fruit. And kitchen supplies, canning jars, toys, books, games, greeting cards, etc...they have it all. I love Beachy's! I visit 1-2 a month. My mom lives a lot closer than I do, so we typically take a short road trip when I'm there visiting. Large selection of cheeses, bulk spices/herbs, frozen meats, candies, pastas, rice, baking (flour, meal, sugar, oils, etc). Fresh baked bread (sooo good!), pies, cookies, cakes. They carry Melissa & Doug toys, kitchen supplies.... I could go on and on. Fresh, locally grown produce is available in Spring/Summer. I was very disappointed in the freshness of the bulk foods. I bought a plastic bag of "Peanut Butter Bars", they were stale, had a terrible old taste like they had set on the shelf for a very long time, the tag on the bag even looked old and yellowed. The tag had a area for the "packed on" and a "sell by" date, which was not marked. I also bought a plastic container of :coconut bon-bons". They also had a stale and old taste like they had also sat on the self for too long. The tag was not marked also. I have this feeling they do not mark the tags, and I do not know how they can tell how old the items are and when to throw them out. I did buy a loaf of white and wheat bread. I knew they were fresh because they were still warm. I would warn the future customers not to buy the bulk food if it is not dated. read more

What an amazing store! The cheeses and bulk goods are much cheaper than the chain stores. We drive down from Rantoul at least every other month. The Devil's Fire cheese will rip your head off! You will find hard-to-find items in there like lamp parts and jar lids of all kinds, kids toys that require imagination and not an electric outlet! Beachy's was alot of fun!! My Mom and I went over the weekend. I could not believe all the baking supplies in the store. My Mom enjoyed and found several things she hadn't seen in years. They did have some bakery items. We bought individual cinnamon rolls ( they were huge, 1 is big enough for 2 people) , they were only .85! They were awesome!
