    matcha latte

I totally forgot to beli this I love the vibes here, the decor is so cute and the chawan's are all so cute. They serve the matcha just whisked which is super nice to taste the matcha and the latte is a lot lighter. I definitely want to try the baked goods someday.

I love the concept of this bakery, cute with fresh made pastries daily that are presented very nicely with a variety of colors, shapes, textures, and aromas. The service is friendly and prices are a little on the higher side but reasonable. It's also great that the offer traditional items that are quite difficult to find outside of the Chicago. As for the flavor of the dishes, I found them to be okay. Perhaps a bit more dense and not as moist as I would've preferred. The sweetness being a bit on the lower side was nice but I'm not certain that it always brings out the desired flavor combination. The items do definitely feel healthier though than other Asian bakeries (particularly the Korean-French, and Hong Kong style). Overall, good but not super special for those who've eaten at other Japanese bakeries before.

Decided to check out Suzu's on our annual trip to C-U this year. Such a sweet little shop. We got a couple of treats to eat there and then ended up buying a box of treats to share. LOVE the miso brownies and the chocolate cake roll. Honestly, everything is delicious. Highly recommend.

My husband and I were looking for some sweet treats and went to Suzu's Bakery. When we walked in we were impressed by the look of the Bakery items. These are pricy items so I was expecting a lot out of them. We got the miso brownie and the chocolate burbon cupcake. When we tasted then we were immediately disappointed. The desserts were dry and were lacking in rich flavor. The prices were outrageous for the quality of food we got. It was a nice and cozy place to eat a bite and take a break. I would skip Suzu's Bakery and go somewhere else.

I love Suzu so much, I literally drove 2 hours to get their pastries because I was craving for it!!! Their pastries is legit Japanese/ Asian sweet standard. You should try everything. I dream of their matcha cookies and cream puffs. It's also a cute small shop, great place to hang out with friends. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming.

Service was amazing! I made an order through the phone for a 6-inch lemon cheesecake with seasonal fruit (not pictured oops), 2 Anko Pans, and a roll cake for my boyfriend's birthday. They let me make a custom order for the roll cake to be coffee flavored instead of chocolate. When I went to the store, the employees were very nice and the whole process went smoothly. It's also so cute inside and has nice vibes/aesthetic. The coffee cake was beautiful and tasted just how I imagined. The other desserts were great as well; what I expect from a Japanese bakery. Light and satisfying. The products from Suzu's are on the pricier side, but I think it's reasonable for what it is and where it's located (in central IL). It might not be the best bakery in the world, but it's worth it depending on what you're looking for. Overall, I was happy with my experience and will be going back!

Such a great spot that I always love to stop by when in town!! Tons of GF options and a few vegan options including a delicious okara cake. There is always something new to try and everything I've had has been delicious. Great drink options too!

Super clean, attentive, helpful & friendly staff. Excellent, high-end pastries. We look forward to enjoying again!

Delicious Japanese cheesecake. Very nicely decorated and the perfect size for 6 people. Didn't realize this gem of a bakery existed. When we want dessert that is not *too* sweet, this hits the spot. The Asian flavors are also a welcoming joy to the tastebuds. Can't wait to come back to try the buns and cake rolls!

Cute spot alert! I love going to cute bakeries and looking at all the goodies they have. Since I can't eat all of them, might as well stare at them and imagine how good they are. I came in on a Friday morning to order their shokupan bread because they only sell them on select mornings. I also ordered their matcha latte after seeing high reviews about them. You can tell they use excellent quality matcha by the color. Their selections are few but mighty! I've had a few cakes here before and they're all great. Wish they had a little more room to have more cafe vibes, but hey, it's a bakery after all!

I am so happy that Champaign now has a Japanese bakery because I missed it for a long time ever since I moved to here from Seattle. I got the soft serve ice cream with red bean and the Matcha mochi pastry and they both tasted wonderful. I can't wait to come back again and try more!

The desserts inside are pretty Asian styles! The sweetness is right appropriate, and you can see that the appearance of them is literally great! The coffee is also nice. Recommend!!!

Thai Tea Caramel Canelé {5/5}: The best canelé I've ever had (okay, I admit, I've only had maybe 6 in my life). Great caramel and good Thai tea flavor. The texture was AMAZING with a nice slight crisp and chewy outside and almost custard-like inside. Everything is made in house and not overly sweet. I especially love their whole cakes or cake slices since they are made with whipped cream which is very airy and light. Their toast bread is also great, I always have some for breakfast, they are lightly sweet and super soft. Owner change their offering everyday, so it's always a surprise on what I can find when I visit. They're my favorite bakery in the area: I'm a really big fan and have tried many of their items (as you can see from my many photos...). My favorite items here are their cream cakes, milk bread (which they call toast), and the cakes with taro and/or mochi. I also highly recommend ordering custom cakes from them: I've ordered three custom cakes (including my wedding cake) and they were all delicious, beautifully decorated, and reasonably priced, especially for the quality. The character designs they do on cakes are super cute. Their menu changes every day, and the milk bread usually comes out later in the afternoon, around 3:30. If you can read Chinese, they have a WeChat group where they post their daily menu. They also sometimes have specials for holidays, e.g., mooncakes for Mid Autumn Festival. I've tried too many of their products to list here, but here are a just few of my favorites (you can check my photos for more details): -Cream Cakes (about $8-9 per slice, depending on the flavor) - these are light and not too sweet, and I really like the whipped cream. My favorites have been the black sesame cream cake, durian cream cake, taro cake, and jasmine milk tea cream cake; the fruit cream is also a classic and is delicious as well. I loved the black sesame cream cake so much that I got it for my wedding. -Toast (Milk Bread) - this comes in two sizes and several flavors; a small is around $5 and a large is around $9. My favorites are the taro and the pork floss flavors, but all the ones I tried have been great. It's very fluffy, soft, stretchy, and slightly sweet, and it's especially great when it's still warm. It's by far the best option for milk bread in town (it's much better than the version at Suzu's Bakery, for instance). -Purple Rice Cream Cheese Bun ($6) - bread with cream cheese, mochi, and purple rice filling. The mochi and purple rice combo is delicious, especially when the bun is still warm. -Taro Mochi Cake ($9) - layers of sponge cake, mochi, pork floss, and taro. The perfect combo in my opinion. I also like their Taro Roll and Mochi Roll, which are smaller versions with sponge cake, pork floss, and one of taro or mochi in the filling. -Mille Crepe Cakes (around $10 per slice, depending on the flavor) - these have relatively more cream compared to crepe. My personal preference would be for more crepe, but I really liked the durian mille crepe and the sakura matcha mille crepe that I tried here. In addition to cream cakes, they also make a variety of other styles of cakes, including mousse cakes, cheesecakes, Basque style cheesecakes, and tiramisu. The cream cakes are my favorite, but the mousse cakes and cheesecakes are great too and are not too sweet. The tiramisu is one of the sweetest cakes I've tried here, but I really liked it as well. The service is really kind and sweet. For custom cake orders, they're very friendly, kind, and thorough. I definitely recommend giving them a visit!
