I love this store's sushi, the only place I go other than Sushi Man on Prospect. I don't grocery shop here often, so I don't have much to say on that aspect other than they have a huge selection of produce and from what I've had, it's pretty good. Their sushi is not talked about NEARLY enough. Their salmon is usually pretty good, so I usually order their salmon maki, a salmon avocado roll, or a chef special with a salmon avocado roll and salmon nigiri if they have them stocked up. If the roll you're looking for isn't there, just ask one of the chefs to make it for you. (It's usually better that way too, since it's more likely to be fresh.) read more

The best grocery store in Champaign. There's beautiful organic produce , a full coffee shop & restaurant inside this location as well as all your regular grocery needs . If you're not familiar , it's similar to a smaller version of a Whole Foods . They do carry vegan options here ( not as many as a Whole Foods ) . Beware of stacked water bottle towers around the store , I barely clipped a tower with my arm and the ENTIRE tower came down , super dangerous. read more

My family and I were at Harvest Market yesterday March 24,26 our experience was horrible !We went through the "Do your own scanning " and started to scan our items when this Short older Caucasian lady with glasses started acting like a " Drill Sergeant "! Yelling back and forth to us customers,no smiles no greeting for directing the flow of customers! There was this disabled lady on a scooter waiting and she yelled at her and waved shouting move move ,the lady moved ,while everyone else stared at her! I could tell she felt embarrassed and sad as well! Management train this lady,or maybe she's not a people person,moody,no manners! Went for the easter buffet... Sad I went about 1:30pm paid had to hunt for silverware, they were supposed to give me when I paid then had to ask for a knife. Prime rib was WAY OVER COOKED, Scrambled eggs were green, over cooked and dry, Turkey was dry falling apart and tasted like saw dust. Then half way through all these Employees started going through with togo containers and just Raping everthing 2-4 containers each. Wanted some more over cooked prime rib (pot roast at this point) but it was gone, friut, gone, everything on the hot bar gone. I felt RIPPED THE "F" OFF AND PISSED. The place had tables with dishes stacked and food everywhere (but on the food area).. OBVIOUSLY A BIG MISTAKE. NEXT TIME..NO. I WILL GO SOMEWHERE ELSE, SAD DISAPPOINTING, It was also alot for someone who is disabled and has difficulty getting around. Should be thorough on giving silverware (knife & Fork,spoon) at point of paying, switch out food if its looking 'tired' put cream of tarter in egg mixture to stop it from turning green. Prime rib temped at 120° if holding in warmers, offer dipping bowls for aujus and horse radish (had neither) desserts were lame weird flavorings. Never going back to this store again. I have been going there for years, spending upwards of $300 per week there. I knew their paper bags were the worst in town but today it was even worse. Bought almost $200 in groceries, including a $20 bottle of wine. Their low quality paper bag came apart in my driveway, spreading broken glass all around and of course draining the wine. I went back and asked for a replacement and they flat out refused. Not a drop of sympathy or even an apology. No chance to get my money back or a replacement. The manager even noted that it took me about 40 minutes to get back to the store, as if driving home, unloading the unbroken groceries and driving back across town to this low quality store is instantaneous or something. Horrible low quality bags is one thing. Refusing to do right and make up for the loss and inconvenience is inexcusable. Never going back to this place again. Avoid this place. There are other options that know how to treat their previously loyal customers better. read more

Harvest Market is an excellent place for Urbana Champaign. It is similar to a Whole Foods, but more of a local feel to it. I really liked everything inside. The prepared food area was quite nice, and especially all the seating available upstairs and downstairs. There was a pretty good sized store bakery too. I wish something like this was here when i was here many years ago! I would not say that it is better than the nicest markets in Chicago or something, but it is an excellent added market to the area. read more

Not sure why it is called Harvest Market since it is basically a Whole Foods with a different name. The place is very large including an upstairs where you can eat drink or just meet people. They have lots of lunch on the go options including a fairly large salad bar. Everything was fresh and reasonably priced. Hello. It's me. I'm the senior, handicapped "Karen" who attempted to shop in your store this evening. I started by trying to enter the closest door, but of course it was locked so I had to limp around to the other door. Naturally there was no sign on the door that could've saved me a few steps. No handicap carts seem to be available either, so I grabbed a conventional cart to find the items I needed. My elderly dad is in hospice and so I spend 12+ hours a day with him. At the end of the day, I'm exhausted and in pain. I'm also hungry and needed a few things to take back to my hotel room where I've been staying for over a month. I picked up yogurt, bread, milk, fruit salad, and some items for my dad's Assisted Living apartment. Then I needed something simple:,A spoon so that I could eat the yogurt I walked through your store three times looking for disposable cutlery or for stainless flatware for purchase or a human to point me in the right direction. I never found any of those things. Finally, I ventured into your closed deli and grabbed a plastic fork and knife packet and then went to check out. There was no help there either. I tried to scan bananas. I was rebuffed by the self check out telling me that the UPC code was not in your system and to put the item aside, then I attempted to scan the fruit salad, and your reader was so slow that I assumed it wasn't working, and scanned the second time. You know what happened. It came up as purchasing the same item twice. At that point, I'd had enough. I believe I said, "I hate this" then walked away exasperated, and left my items at the check out. I'll be back if and when you ever provide any customer service or can merchandise your store logically where items can be found I may be back. Until then, I'm headed to Aldi's. read more

Great place for all grocery items, offering an extensive array of cheeses, meats, nuts. Even an in-house, fresh sushi offering! Best Salmon you will ever have. Choose your seasoning and let them cook it for you. Then pop over to the deli counter and grab a salad...perfect lunch. There's a quaint cafe downstairs and a bright cheery loft upstairs with comfy couches and tons of study space. Perfect for meeting with friends and hanging out. Heads up...their classes are a joke. First the good. Checkout. Plenty of cashiers most of the time. Line moves quickly. Usually get a decent greeting and thank you. Now the bad. Terrible customer service everywhere else! Deli and actual "customer service" counter are the worst! Employees either ignore you or perform perfunctory service at best! Returned a rancid deli item and got nothing but attitude from rude customer service woman. No apologies for the disgusting salad I had to come back with. Today I got no service whatsoever at deli and the employee nearby just made excuses. Meat counter was backed up. No one seamed to be helping customers! 2 employees in back just tasking. No one at customer service desk. When they called someone he came and gave me attitude interrupting me when I was expressing my concern. Manager who finally addressed my concern left me unsatisfied and refused to give me a corporate contact telling me to go online. From what I've seen it's unlikely I'll get any attention to this matter. No real loss. This is my neighborhood store and I had high hopes for a quality grocery store on all levels. The quality never really has materialized here. Extra drive to Schnucks will be a better alternative. read more

Its a very nice store. It's a clean store & even the carts are pretty clean. While they do not have as big a selection of items as other large supermarkets,they seem to have quality items. They could use a larger Poultry section & ditto for the yogurt section. I also like their vege & Fruit section. A customer can always find a produce person which is nice. They are constantly stocking & restocking, etc. It's nice that I can ask them questions about a fruit or vege for example, as I'm shopping.The staff is friendly as well, or at least friendlier than some other stores around Champaign. Unfortunately, I do have a complaint,but its not about the food. Harvest Market does not accept EBT, (LINK) cards as a form of payment when shopping online using Instacart. I believe their policy is morally wrong & prejudicial. There are enough security steps involved in the payment process including the fact the customer must Link their regular banking card to their account & enter a specific amount from the LINK card to be used from the EBT card. All the other stores seem to accept EBT cards online. Many elderly people depend on Link cards as well as young families. If they allow customers to use the card when doing in-person shopping, they should allow it for online shopping as well. I truly hope Harvest Market will change their policy. read more

Harvest Market is an upscale grocery experience. For someone who does their bi-weekly grocery shopping at Aldi, it was fun to come in here and browse around. Probably most appealing to us was the large prepared foods section. A huge variety of convenience foods for those who don't have the time/want to cook a meal from scratch; purchase, reheat, eat. The salad bar and gourmet cheese selection is quite impressive, as are the meat and seafood cases. Beer and liquor departments were awesome, too. We tried some Mediterranean Salmon Burgers that were tasty, albeit really salty. The veggie pizza we bought from the deli area was delicious. The prepared salads were okay, too. I was thoroughly impressed with their sparkling water selection (many different brands), as they carry all LaCroix brand flavors. I'm a fan of the Peach-Pear, which isn't easy to find. I typically buy my LaCroix at Aldi for $4.19, but Harvest Market sells a 12 pack for $4.99. Not bad. Aisles were beautifully merchandised and all products were pulled to the front and neatly organized. Kudos to the employees to keep the shelves looking nice and neat. I sensed a lot of pride in the way this store looks. Harvest Market was definitely not short staffed. At times it seemed there were 2 employees for every customer, especially behind the deli and meat counters. Every employee we came in contact with was very friendly. We lived in the Chicago suburbs for 4 years and loved Mariano's. Harvest Market definitely has a Mariano's feel. Will be back in a non-Saturday. read more

This place was alright. Went here for the $10 breakfast buffet. They had many more options for non vegetarians which made me a bit sad. They did have vegetarian food on the menu but wasn't worth the money. They had the regular eggs, biscuit, pancakes, hash browns fresh fruit and bread pudding. The bread pudding was the best thing there. Wish they added some veggies in the eggs like they added the bacon in for the non vegetarians. Went here another day and got the pasta salad and the apple pie which were both delicious! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. read more

While visiting family in Champaign I needed to shop for a short list of items. This store is truly wonderful! The produce was fresh and very attractive. I asked a produce employee if he could help me find the green onions. Instead of just pointing me to the shelf, he dashed to the produce locker and brought my the freshest onions available. At the self-checkout station a really polite employee stepped over and offered to enter all the produce numbers for me so I didn't have to look them up on the register. Such great customer service. Not great. I asked cashier if she could spare a roll of quarters. She almost gave me her only roll, leaving just a handful of quarters in her drawer. But I said, oh, that's alright. She said, go to the customer service counter where they have plenty of coins. I went to the customer service counter. I held out $10 and asked if I could have a roll of quarters. The woman behind the counter said, "we don't have any quarters." I said, "do you mean that you have a policy of not selling rolls of quarters, perhaps? or are you just plain lying?" The surly woman turned away. Niiiiice. I primarily go here for the salad bar. It's sort of a hit or miss affair. Sometimes, the tubs are stocked well. Other times, they are poorly stocked and completely disgusting. I've seen ants at the salad bar, too. I'm not sure why I keep going back. The deli is a nightmare. The employees are primarily concerned with entertaining one another and having a loud laughing good time. It's basically like a Burger King. There is no sign of any supervision or management, just loud people loitering behind the counter. As for groceries, this place tries to portray itself as upmarket, like a Whole Foods. The only problem with that concept is that it's in Champaign, IL. NOTHING is upmarket in this town, and nothing ever can be. This is because the residents of the town are at the bottom of the economic spectrum. I suggest avoiding this grocery store. Even better, I suggest avoiding this town entirely. read more

I love Harvest Market. I lived in Champaign, IL for work for a few months and this place reminded me of Whole Foods. I would have given the place five stars had it not been for an issue that I had that was never resolved. It was never about the money, but the principle. I would come to this store literally almost everyday for food from the deli or just to get small items as I lived by myself and did not stock stuff. I figure it was a way to get out of the house. One day I told my friend that this place is the best super market in town. We went to the deli and got two fried chicken plates. I was eating at the Farmhouse restaurant daily. This order that I am referring to is specifically in regard to the deli. The cashier or person working that day was completely lost. I had to tell her that corn bread comes with the meal plate. The food was cold and the person that was working said it was because I came at closing. I ended up getting sick from the food. I should have known better not to eat it. Long story short I complained to the manager via email. Eventually the manager called me back, and left me a voice mail. I called back and was told I would get a refund for $16.47 cents, for what I paid. I than noticed I never got a refund and they said the manager changed and that the new manager would call me back. I talked to the new manager and he stated he was new and that he would get to the bottom of this and call me back. I never got a call back. I was going into Harvest Market every single day when I was in town and planned on going everyday when I go back. This place would get five stars if it was not for the mix up. I understand the situation and can kind of see how they could have forgot, but I am not going to keep calling. Its the job of every business to try to keep every customer happy. If they have a charity organization, I would like them to donate the $16.47 to charity. read more

BEST PLACE TO STUDY/WORK/EAT IN CHAMPAIGN! I never expected that I would spend as much time as I do chilling at a grocery store, but Harvest Market is hands down one of my favorite places in Champaign. They have a huge, beautiful seating area upstairs with plenty of outlets and fast wifi. Oh and it's open until midnight, which is a lot later compared to other cafes in town! My Sunday routine now consists of heading over to Harvest Market for one of their sandwiches (favorites include the Muffaletta and the fig and mortadella), soups (Chicken and wild rice), or entrees (try the fried chicken!) - all of which are super affordable. I never spend more than $10 on a prepared meal here. Overall, I feel incredibly grateful that this place exists and is thriving! I've only been to one of their food events so far (an incredible wine, cheese, and chocolate tasting), and I can't wait to attend more of their events in the future. read more

Great grocery store on the west side of campus! Tons of fresh food, local products, gift items, etc. And very clean.

Was in a hurry and decided to raid their deli for chicken fingers, mashed potatoes and a vegetable. Not good. The mashed potatoes looked a little lumpy but I've eaten here before and they've been a little sketchy but ok. This time when I got home there were intact potatoes cubes that someone was too inattentive to mash. Add to that that the chicken fingers were half-way to hard as a brick, and I was pretty bummed with the whole experience. The deli needs some real supervision, not someone phoning it in. read more

We went to a grilled cheese event which had some beer tastings as well. Employees are so friendly and I've enjoyed their bakery and seafood items! First of all I love the location. It's really helpful being on Neil in such a busy area and it's right between work and home for me. The space itself is really nice, it's not overly huge, and it's really bright and the aisles are wide. I would say they were missing a few items compared to our previous go to spot (no burrata?!). But overall it's got the basics covered and a few higher end items, including a lot of organic and vegetarian options. The price is a bit high but it was't bad enough for me to drop a star. Aside from the actual grocery store, there's a restaurant, salad bar, and coffee shop in the building and it's super awesome. There are many times I've stopped in to grab lunch from the soup/salad bar and it was quick and easy and everything was fresh. All in all, it's a gem and I'm happy to have it in Champaign! I visited several times before writing this review- because- yes it is shiny, big and bright and holiness- there is a lot to see in here and what you see on day one- maybe totally different on week 3- so here it is- I Love this place! I'm not a regular grocery shopper- so if you're looking for a wide assortment of one product- go to a regular grocery store- you won't be disappointed. If you're looking for quality items at a competitive price- you're going to find it here. When you walk in- the produce assortment and selection is amazing! It was fresh, beautiful, bountiful and well priced- wk 1-2 and 3! I made several requests for items they did not have- and boom- they appeared the next week. I've love the fresh prepped items in the produce section- thank you! Flowers- unique, beautiful, fresh- Bins- whole grains, nuts, (grinder) candies, olive oils, teas... (coughing sneezing people, sadly- are everywhere!) Cafe- my first stop. Columbia St Roastery? May I shake the hand of the person who made that decision? Someone said the meat market wasn't big- that's because they don't carry crud meat- only high quality. And prices are competitive. Someone compared the freezer section to Walmart. While size may matter- I don't know any Walmart that has the assortment that Harvest Market does. Four types of Ezekiel bread, gluten free gnocchi; chicken and beef bone broth, an entire section of gluten free bread; an entire section of Indian prepped foods- frozen organic root vegetables- very reasonably priced and more. Yes, there are some Reg frozen grocery items in there, but they are name brands- and I have to believe they are the best sellers in their category. Not everyone in the family adheres to organics or dietary restrictions. But as in my case, when it comes to organics and gluten free products, produce, cheese, fish, frozen and even snacks- I am delighted to be able to have such variety, freshness, great pricing, excellent customer service and a lovely store to shop in, to boot. I do not work here and in fact have to travel almost 30 mins to shop here. In my opinion, it is well worth the trip.
