I literally had about 1 min to review before the exit and decided we'd go for it. It's a really cute cafe that is a hidden gem in a small town, once you walk in you no longer feel like you're in the mid west. It's colorfully decorated and they have great upbeat music playing which was a nice touch. No idea why we were the only patrons on a Sat at 12:30, but no matter, the service and food was excellent! I got the grouper sandwhich which was delicious, I love fish burgers that are actual pieces of fish and it had great seasoning. I also had the sparking raspberry lemonade which was yum! Hubby had the lobster and crab Reuben which he thoroughly enjoyed. We split the carrot cake which was top notch!!! Great lunch that I'm glad we stumbled upon!

We only had to wait for about 5 minutes and the atmosphere was much more calm and relaxed. We both chose to order off the menu rather than eating the buffet. My fiancé got the country fried steak special and I got 2 pieces of fried chicken with mashed potatoes. I'm not usually a fried chicken person, but it smelled really good. It. Was. So. Freaking. Tasty! The chicken was so juicy and flavorful, and along with the homemade mashed potatoes and gravy, I was in comfort food heaven! My fiancé really enjoyed his food as well and then we tried the carrot cake cupcakes from the dessert bar which were also delicious! The only downside was our waitress seemed very busy and never checked back on us. She dropped our check off with the food and never came back.

If you would like to go for a drive and arrive hungry this might be a perfect little trip for you. I have been by this place many times during my travels with work but I have never gave them a try until the other day. I missed out on many opportunities to make my belly and wallet happy. Once I arrived I noticed the barnyard and clean cut little building. Upon entering I was welcomed with the wonderful smell of Cinnamon Rolls being baked fresh. I was able to choose where I sat and my waitress was very pleasant and happy. The coffee was delicious and fresh and my breakfast was served hot and cooked perfectly. The price point was right on and the options were plentiful. I will be back for the lunch options soon. Well worth the trip and it's close to Attica but a few miles NW of town. You definitely feel like you are in the country, because you are!

Visiting coffeehouses is one of my recreational activities…read more On an adventure to Brookfield, my dad and I stopped in for some caffeine for the road trip. At first, we were confused as GPS took us to a bicycle shop but once we go out and walked around, we found where to get our caffeine. We walked in to a busy cafe and noticed half of it was a bicycle shop. I'm not sure if it's the same owner/business but it was pretty neat to see the two put together. Pretty sure this is a first for my dad and I. I wasn't sure where to order and happened to be standing next to a little computer set up that looked like I could order my own drinks from. Just before I decided to try and use it myself, a barista came over and took our order. My dad isn't used to getting coffees from anything over than his coffee pot at home so he ordered the same thing I always get: iced americano. We waited about 5 minutes to get our drinks and then we dipped out to start our adventures for the day. We got to my car and took a few sips to get us energized for the trip to Brookfield and I have to say, the americano from Recreation was really good. It was dark and bitter, just how I like it. My dad tried his first americano and really liked it. He drinks his coffee like I do. Black. So, it's no surprise he could handle the bitterness just as well as me. Recreation was nice little stop to get some caffeine. The baristas were super nice. The place is fairly smaller on the inside so if you have a large group of people, you may need to take the place over or take your drinks elsewhere. Overall, pretty cool place to get some coffee, just don't let the bicycle shop store front fool ya. Recreation has it's own door to enter from outside.
