We're on the way to Ohio and dozing off along 70 and Apple Maps referred us to Joe Sippers. What an amazing name! We walked in and loved to see the plants and the genuine decoration in the place. The woman who took our order was nice and patient. We asked for light ice and were given that. I ordered a dirty chai and YES! Has a great chai flavor and overall lovely balance between sweet and spice. Danny got an Americano which he says is really good and smooth. We even got to draw flowers while waiting for our coffee. It was quick and a great stop for us on our journey. Only comment is we got a sleeve on our cup that was unneeded because we both got iced coffees. We like to reduce waste!! This was a random find on a road trip, and it did not disappoint!!! My husband will sometimes cave to go to the big coffee chains due to convenience, but we saw you can order ahead online at Joe Sippers, so we decided to give it a try. So glad we did! Ordering and receiving our drinks were both seamless. I can't say much for the ambiance and overall service, since we were a quick in and out. But I can say, their coffee is amazing!! I got an iced shaken espresso with brown sugar. It was absolutely amazing. It had the right touch of sweetness. Felt creamy and luxurious from the milk but not overly heavy. I was passing through Effingham and I needed some effing coffee, so I stopped at Joe Sippers Cafe. It was a great decision! The Americano that I ordered was smooth, and stayed smooth even as it cooled down, which can be a challenge for some coffees. While I was there, I also ordered a Huevos Rancheros breakfast burrito. You can't ask me what I think about breakfast burritos because I have very high standards, so my burrito gauge is skewed. But I wanted a burrito because I needed something to eat that I could hold in one hand while driving. Good news: You can hold the burrito in your hand while driving! The place itself is cozy and comfortable with many tables, and even a separate, more secluded room with even more tables. There are also couches and artwork on the wall, and a shelf with books to read while you're there. There's a parking lot in the back with several spaces, and parking on the street too. read more

Go to place for great coffee, smoothies, and cafe food. Breakfast on this trip. Frittata egg bites were the perfect side to our wraps. Huevos ranchero for me, bacon breakfast wrap for my wife. Added a fruit cup for good measure. She had a strawberry smoothie and I enjoyed a bottomless cup of Highlander Grog coffee, so much so I bought a bag of beans for home. Service was great even though they're really busy. Behind the counter was a very in unison team pushing out drinks and food quickly and with a smile. Place is always clean and ready for everyone. Ambiance is exactly what a coffee shop should be. Ever changing local art on the wall is also something to check out in each visit. If you come, plan on staying a while. First time coming here, I haven't been to Effingham in years and this place was a real great time that my wife selected. Overall it has a great selection of food, drinks and vegan options. If you like anything on the walls (mainly the artwork) it's all for sale! Staff here was friendly and sweet. We didn't even know about the coffee shop connected to it until we left. My turkey club sandwich was really good as well as my green apple smoothie. Definitely worth stopping in. read more

I often come here after visiting the library or just walking around downtown Effingham. Joe Sippers is a quaint little coffee shop and it has different seating arrangements inside such as tall tables, couches, and regular tables. There are quite a few outlets and wifi here, so if you need to be in the presence of people whilst you work this is the place. There are two rooms, the front room is a lot busier than the back. I like to think that the back room is kind of like a work room and the front room is more or so for visiting. It's busy mid day and then it starts dying down around two to three o'clock in the afternoon. The coffee and food isn't very pricey for how much you can get. In my humble opinion this place is a lot better than Starbucks in many ways. They have daily soups and seasonal drinks! They also have desserts and they sell little containers of their black bean salsa which is some of the best i've had by far! The staff is amazing and so kind not only that but really quick with your order even when it's super busy. This place for sure gets a ten out of ten by this super opinionated person! read more

Driving through Effingham, we were in search of a coffee shop and a spot for breakfast. This was rated well and nearby so we decided to stop. What a cute coffee shop! We called ahead and ordered an iced latte with soy milk, cafe mocha with cayenne, caprese wrap, and the breakfast wrap. The coffees were very smooth and full of body. The wraps were made with our adjustments and packed with flavor. Specifically the local eggs they use were fluffy and some of the best eggs I've had. Stopped in on the way thru Effingham in search of something open that had some vegetarian options for a road tripping companion. They delivered on that front. Nothing else was really notable though. Friendly service was a plus, food was really the negative though. Got a couple of wraps and the chicken was shredded when you'd expect whole pieces and tasted kind of like canned chicken taste. It wasn't anything I'd go back for. Chips were a nice addition but the black bean salsa was too sweet and not particularly plentiful for the amount of chips you'd have. read more

Was driving thru Effingham on a Thursday and saw Joe's and decided to stop. I was surprised to see Matzo Ball Soup on the menu so I decided to grab a 'Mug' of matzo ball soup with my water down ice tea. I'm not sure exactly what I was eating but it was more of a dumpling then a matzo ball. Growing up in the burbs of Chicago I visited many Jewish delis and had their matzo ball soup. Never have I had a bowl of soup with I'm sure was nutmeg in the matzo ball. I think the owner needs to take a road trip up north to the burbs of Chicago and try a real bowl of Matzo Ball soup. read more
