I love Homewood Grill! If you are from Effingham or traveling through the area, then you must stop by! They have an interior walk up and drive through. The food menu is all fried food (reason for 4 stars). However, the star is the ice cream novelties. They have items called shake-n-mores which is like their version of a blizzard or concrete. They have DOLE whips in different flavors which you cannot find fresh outside of Florida! They have sweets for all as some items are vegan, gluten free and sugar free. Grab one of their ice cream pies for your next event. They are a family owned - woman ran business and everyone was so nice and polite. If you have a little assistance you can make this place pretty accessible. The only concern was that there was not a diaper changing station. They only have outdoor seating so you may have to take your treats and eats to go. But it is great they are open all year round. Check out all the fun art from the trash cans all the way into the restroom. I cannot wait until my next trip back to Homewood Grill! read more

I'm from Effingham originally and when coming back to visit I've stopped in here a few times. Not sure if it's the new location, owners, or what. The people that work here are nice and courteous (mostly high school kids). The problem is - the ice cream is average, they're so stingy with the toppings, and for what you get, the price is too high. The old location had a lot of nostalgia and charm. The new location, with the above items I mentioned, it's more like a corporate ice cream store vs a small town shop to stop by. read more

Best ice cream out there. My grandpa used to take me here as a kid and I have to come here anytime I visit the area. Nothing compares.

The ice cream was expensive for the amount you got, and the homemade ice cream I got was good but not great, certainly not anything spectacular that would keep me coming back. Great service and so many choices. We went on a busy Fathers day late afternoon. I had two scoops of ice cream in a cone. Very good ice cream it was cookie dough. Really awesome place, my boyfriend is addicted to their blue goo and our summer 2019 has been marked by tons of delicious take home soft serve. It doesn't matter how long it's in your freezer, it's always a good texture and taste. The prices are really fair for take home amounts, but be careful with any upcharges/toppings, without a word the wiser they charged us $6 for a small side of sprinkles (when the night before they were $1, a reasonable price for such a topping)! Yikes. And were totally rude upon request for refund. This indicates to me that they maybe need to spend more time training for point of service with consistency from shift to shift. This incident has a "ruined a beautiful thing" quality to it and we feel ripped off for sure, but the ice cream is great and we otherwise have had no problems, so 4 stars. read more

I am on a lo-carb diet. I went today for a cheeseburger. This is the second time ive ordered a triple cheese with nothing on it. I specifically said, "Just the meat and the cheese cooked together and put into a box." I got a triple cheese wrapped in wax paper with all the cheese STUCK TO A BUN. They got it wrong like they did the last time i tried to get this. LISTEN. Can you listen to what people order? Apparently not. Its really not that hard. And then the kids at the window act like ive offended them when i tell them its wrong. Then they wanted me to walk around the building to throw the wrong one away myself. Yeah. Its on the ground now. Everything is tasty, from the Twinkle cones to the Flavor Burst ice cream to the huge chicken tenderloin sandwich. My favorite for a long time was the upside-down banana split. Essentially, it's a banana split in a cup. What could be better than that? Then, I moved on to the yogurt in a cup with two scoops of crumbled Reeses cups.
