I always enjoy a visit to Culver's, be it for their excellent butter burgers or their ice cream. Hard to drive past one!

The food was good. On April 20th in the late afternoon I ordered online. I have always picked my order up in the drive through. They told me to pull forward and employees kept asking for my number. I didn't have one. When the boy brought the food I said thank you (10 minutes later and food was cold). He said "You know you were supposed to pick this up curbside". He was very rude and condescending. I felt bad for getting it wrong but I won't go back. There was no reason to be so rude. If I had known they changed the rules I would not have gone through the drive through, Culver's is always my favorite place to stop. But I won't in Effingham anymore. I said a prayer for the little bad word and am moving on. read more

BLUF: They like mayo. Very clean restrooms!!! Was driving on the interstate and needed to get some fuel for the car and was hungry as well. This Culver's was right next to the gas station just off the interstate so it was convenient. I just got a basic bacon cheeseburger combo. It was good. They do love to slap the mayo on a burger at Culver's so if you aren't a fan of mayo be forewarned! The restrooms rivaled a Buc-cee's!!! Whoever was on the cleaning the restrooms shift that night was definitely taking their job seriously and doing a great job. In case any mgmt is reading this it was about 815pm on Thursday May 22, 2025 so check your Sked and give whoever was on restroom clean up duty a raise. read more

Why do customers leave their trash all over their tables and the floor?? The staff here has to work extra hard to clean up the dining room! Food was great, loved that they offer a vegetarian burger! Lots of flies in the dining room today, not sure why. read more

IMO the best hamburger made by a chain. Grilled patty like a picnic, toasted bun quality cheese and fresh toppings. The cheese curds with their crunchy outer shell and melted cheesy goodness inside are worth it. The frozen custard just adds to the meal. However, don't be afraid to divert away from the burger menu. The cod sandwich or fish and chips are a great option. If you've never been before then give Culver's a try. Even for adults I recommend the kids meal. A quality burger with fries, a drink and a custard dessert is worth it. Plus save the coupons on the bag for a real toy gift, not a garbage promo item like other chain restaurants. The facilities are always clean with plenty of helpful staff to get your order to you as quickly as possible. If it's crowded just realize everyone is here for a reason. read more

Stopped in for custard, as I don't think there are any other places in Effingham that have it. I got the turtle, which was ready in just a few minutes and brought to my table. I enjoyed it - perhaps not quite as good as some of the lesser chains in Missouri, but still pretty good for a chain. read more

Atmosphere - Easy access to the location from the Interstate which is always a plus.  We decided to take a break from the car and dine in.  The place is still following COVID low occupancy rules by the state.  We found a nice table to eat our side.  Wow the number of finches was crazy and entertaining. Food - I have not been to many Culver's and my last review I indicated I want to try the butter burger.  I did, and it loaded with all the free options.  My wife talked me into getting a double, which I am glad, the patties are very thin.  To me the double was like a normal patty.  I also ordered a side of crinkle cut French fries.  Excellent side. Service - Super fast and friendly.  They give you a table number, and they even brought the food out to us while sitting out at one of their picnic tables. Well, that was a pretty tasty carryout experience! I've only been to Culver's one other time maybe ten years ago. With limited options around, we opted to give it a shot and feast on comfort fast food eats. Our order consisted of buffalo chicken tenders, peanut butter milkshake, fries, onion rings, steamed broccoli and a butter burger. Yes, this was for only two people- don't judge. The food was all delicious and the carryout service was friendly. My only complaint was that they popped tarter sauce into our bag instead of the buttermilk ranch and the sauce was paid for/extra. Butttt it didn't stop us from dipping our buffalo chicken into tarter sauce ‍ The bathrooms were clean and it appeared that they were taking COVID safety precautions seriously. read more

Dropped in at 10:30am on a Saturday morning while traveling across US 70 Ordered a couple value baskets and the price was real reasonable. Less than $5 for a Butterburger, fry and a small soda. Omg! Las Vegas needs to get one of these places. They have butter burgers, fried chicken, chili, fish etc. their menu has a little something for everyone. But what made me fall in love was they have custard, concretes and every day they have a special flavor of the day! The customer service was great, they even offer a military discount for active and retired. The food is made to order and made to make you a fan of their food. As we headed to Chicago, we stopped here to eat and try some of the fast food chains we don't have back in CA. This place unlike the other ones we have tried was very spacious, super clean, and a nice variety in their menu for those who aren't into hamburgers or chicken tenders. Kids had their butter burger, pretzel burger, cheese curds, curly fries, a type of ice cream with granola and fruit which was extremely good, root beer float, pretzel bites with Wisconsin cheese, and an ice cream sundae with cookie dough, needless to say they loved everything and service was fast and friendly. What's special about Effingham? Well, like other Yelpers have found, it's a natural stopping point between Chicagoland and Memphis. And for me, I can say I had my first Culver's milk shake in Effingham. Wow, it reminded me of the goodness at the Indy State Fair. So good, and not too sweet. Visiting my husbands family in the St. Louis area, we all ventured on a trip across Illinois to Indiana. On our way, the kids were hungry and we all needed a stop to relax for a bit, since we were being cramped in an RV for 3 hours. The in-laws were raving about Culver's and how it was comparable to In-N-Out.. and because we were from So Calif, the hubbster and I thought.. lets go for it! Well, it was an impostor and in very fatty taste.. FIRST thing FIRST: This is a total locals spot. Everyone who knows everyone is there. Of course the hubbster and I being from "out-of-town" really did give notice. I felt I could hear the record player scratch... anyways we got over all the looks and began to order. I couldn't help but notice though.. nothing on the menu was similar to In-N-Out.. (except for the shakes) We had gone ahead with the high recommendation of the Double Butter Burger with Bacon - we thought why the heck not?? Fatty and delectable, it was nasty but in a good way. The hubbster enjoyed it, and since we split it, we found to be the only people in the place that had it that way. I also had a grilled chicken and strawberry salad, which was tame enough, chicken was juicy, but the salad was very wilted. My nieces adored the lemon custard so much that I went with as well and found it to be way too tart for my taste, but it was refreshing. Perks: Good deal on $ for food. For both the hubbster and I, all of our consumption including drinks was under $20 - not a bad deal. This location has plenty of room for truck and RV parking, as well as clean bathrooms. Downsides: Very crowded and tight dining area. Awesome TIP: Those cheese curds were actually very tasty! I would come back just for those! OverALL: Meh.. I know I am a picky eater, but this is definitely a hit or miss with taste and calories, however, it is a great place to stop on a long distance drive from state to state. read more

I am an Effingham resident and i rarely go to Culvers BECAUSE i dont feel they value the drive up customers. EVERY TIME i use the drive up i get to hear "please pull forward and we will bring your food out."even if i am the only customer at the drive up. I asked "why? Theres no one behind me." And was told "someone could order ice cream." (Could order?) no one is there.) They are more worried about a customer that isnt at the window wanting ice cream that hasnt been ordered, than waiting on the customer in front of them. How about you wait on one customer at a time in the order they show up at the window. For this reason and this reason alone if i could give them less than 1 star i would. Since posting this i have been contacted by an owner of Culvers in Effingham. He explained the "Culvers Way" that just how they do business. Then he had the balls to ask me to amend my review! NO! Everything in your reply confirmed everything i complained about Sir! So No i will not amend my review. Steak and Shake dosnt cook my burger before i order it and NEVER have i been asked to pull forward and wait on my burger there. Shame on you. If you have crappy service and then try to defend it. First time here. Went with my mom who has been to the one in Columbus Ohio. This one was soooooo clean, floors, bathroom, tables everything the staff were great and the white of sandwich was awesome. Okay, this is a chain restaurant so if you've been in one Culver's, then you know what to expect. For the person who has not been to one, then please don't let my two star rating deter you from coming here. If you've never had a butter burger, and a frozen custard (basically ice cream), then you have to stop and give it a try, you'll like it. (assuming of course you like burgers and ice-cream.) The service here is good, the people are very friendly and the food comes out rather quickly and actually has a good presentation. So why the two stars? Well, the interior of this place is beat. The rug is well past worn, the furniture has certainly been well used and needs replacing. This location is in serious need of a remodel and get the newer interior look many locations have received in the past few years. My guess is, due to it's prime location by 70 and 57, this places is "always" busy, so it will be hard for them to schedule in the remodel. I do come here because the food and service is good, but in most cases it's via the drive through and I take it home to eat. read more

During a long drive from Chicago to Memphis I needed a car break and some food. After miles and miles of no options for food other than a McDonalds I saw a giant billboard advertising this location.
