The hostess was fabulous and recommended her favs. She was very knowledgeable about the food and preparation. Started off with deconstructed grilled cheese and added a side of sweet butter. The hubby had lasagna and we had a front row seat to watch its preparation and baking in the wood-fired oven. I had the Bucatini Amatriciana. OMG, Heaven. As we were leaving they provided us with a free dessert. It was a chocolate cake with vanilla gelato. It was the chef's grandma's recipe. I brought tears of joy to my face. I wish I lived closer. I would be here once a week.

Seriously some of the best bread I've ever had. Next we split the lasagna Bianco and rigatoni. Both were large servings and quite good. We sat at the bar and watched the staff make the food which was fun. It appears you can bring your own wine which I love. My only negative is that it was really expensive- like white tablecloth Italian pricing. That would keep me from being a regular if I lived nearby.

This cozy, unpretentious spot delivers exactly what you hope for in a small-town Italian-American restaurant: hearty portions, comforting flavors, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. I ordered the meatballs, and they did not disappoint--tender, well-seasoned, and served in a rich marinara sauce that tasted homemade. My dinner companion went with the cheese ravioli, which came piping hot and generously smothered in sauce. Both dishes were satisfying and full of flavor. One of the highlights of the meal was the salad bar-- while a small salad bar, it was fresh, well-stocked, and a perfect way to start the meal. The bread sticks were another pleasant surprise: warm, soft, and just the right touch of comfort on the side. Whether you're a local or just passing through Effingham, Pizza Man is a great stop for a relaxed, hearty meal that leaves you full and content. Definitely worth a visit!

We ordered the 9 inch hot mother clutter because I love a good buffalo chicken pizza. She had it ready in 10 minutes and I had asked her to make the crust extra crispy and she did just that as you can see from my photo. Pricing was very fair at $10.50 for a 9 inch pizza. In full transparency, I did add a little drizzle of hot Frank's buffalo sauce because we like our pizzas extra spicy and I forgot to request that.
