Country Store; The best part of this place was the country store ! Loved all the nostalgic goodies. Rainbow Brite , Raggedy Ann, Strawberry Shortcake , Hello Kitty , Blues Clues , Lilia & Stitch , Grinch , Snoopy , candies , decorations , yummy candles , body care , clothing and more ... much more. The restaurant; Service was slowwww but our server was really sweet . I was able to place a vegan order but wouldn't recommend a vegan to eat here. Food is mostly heavy fried comfort type entrees. We loved the Cracker Barrel in Urbana, but this location feels like a major downgrade. I ordered a burger and my wife ordered a steak, but both were very plain. The waitress was kind, but despite the restaurant being empty, it took an eternity for our food to come out. I tried to eat breakfast at the Cracker Barrel in Ephingham, Illinois, on June 1, 2025. I ordered the Old Timer's Breakfast and requested crispy bacon. The bacon that was presented on my plate was raw and floppy. I asked a second time for my bacon to be cooked crispy . . . the bacon that was returned to me was again raw and floppy. So I asked a third time for crispy bacon . . . the bacon that was returned to me was again raw and floppy. I filed complaint with manager and left the restaurant. Maybe Cracker Barrel's image problem is not the decor but the staff's inability to listen to customers' requests. read more

My waitress, Gracie P was fantastic!!! I couldn't have asked for a better server. Very pleasant, and attentive.

The service was VERY slow! We had to take our food with due to the time it took to wait/get our food out. The baked potato was the size of a small egg. The waitress even commented on how small, but offered no other side. Also knowing we had to take our food, she offered no drinks to go. I definitely would not recommend this place! Cracker Barrel?...Yes please! Like all Cracker Barrels, this one has a great menu with daily specials, consistently good food and friendly, courteous, and prompt service. If you enjoy breakfast, you''ll love their all day breakfast menu. I ordered their blueberry pancakes with blueberry syrup along with sides bacon and fried apples. Everything was hot and delicious (you can never go wrong with blueberries :) ). The service was outstanding as our server came by multiple times to refill our coffee cups. Hubby picked our dinner location, as he has always enjoyed their meatloaf. Sure enough that is what he ordered along with a side of mashed potatoes with brown gravy and the fried apples. He said everything was good. he never eats or very rarely eats any kind of bread with the meal so since they offer corn muffins or biscuits he was kind enough to order one of each because he knows I really enjoy them. I ordered fried chicken which I've never had before at Cracker Barrel. It was very good with a nice crunchy exterior and good taste. I am going to have to stop ordering fried chicken everywhere. It's always too much to eat at once!!!! I had collard greens and mashed potatoes with pan gravy as my two sides. The collard greens were good-I did wish I had gotten the vinegar that was offered. The mashed potatoes and pan gravy were delicious. Their mashed potatoes seem to be real and I really enjoyed them. I also ordered one biscuit and one cornmeal muffin and ate a muffin and half a biscuit with my meal. They are always good and they did not disappoint. They give real butter with their breads which again I find superior to many other places so I enjoy that as well since I prefer the taste. I ate the wing and the leg and my sides and was full so took the breast and thigh back to the hotel. I had to ask for plastic ware (which I generally forget) because it's upsetting to get to the hotel and decide you want to snack and not have anything to eat with. Our server was very good she was extremely busy and did a good job handling all her tables. Her name is Valora. She grabbed me a handful of plasticware so I was able to put a couple in storage in our vehicle. Don't hesitate to ask for her. Very pleasant! One thing that was unique to our meal is we have never ordered their strawberry lemonade and decided to try it. It was a good choice -very refreshing, a little bit tart and nice and cold and fresh. We both enjoyed it. As per the norm we were too full for dessert. The peach cobbler sounded very tempting but that's the way it is!!! I didn't need it anyway!! So, Cracker Barrel may not be the most exciting place to eat or the most exotic but you can generally count on the menu being the same from Location to Location along with their recipes so the food is consistent which can be a good thing. If you're in the mood for some comfort food and a menu you can trust we recommend you give it a try. read more

While on an rv road trip to leaf peep in the New England states we traveled to late and didn't get a reservation to camp. We were in Effingham and saw this Cracker Barrel and called to see if they allowed for camping overnight. They said yes. We rolled in at 8:00 with one hour to eat a late dinner and they accommodated us perfectly- even though they were closing in an hour. My husband had chicken & dumplings mashed potatoes with their famous fried apples. He said it tasted good as always and commented that his biscuits tasted fresh even though it was so late . I decided to branch out and try their new special shepherds pie casserole. It was delicious. It had plenty of soft roast beef, carrots & peas on top of mashed potatoes. The top was their shredded potatoes &. Cheese . I would definitely have it again. We camped out in the parking lot that night along with some other trailer pulling folks. We were up and ready for breakfast with them when they opened at 7:00. Everyone greeted us warmly and my husband proceeded to have biscuits & gravy with sausage. It was fresh, warm & filling. I guess I was still into trying something different and tried their loaded potato tot casserole. It was alright but I probably will not have that again. The cheese wasn't melted on the tots and therefore it and the bacon were just sitting on the tots. Next Cracker Barrel breakfast I'm sticking with tried and true! I will start by saying breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, I have never went to the Cracker Barrel in Las Vegas due to the long lines! This being said being on tour driving through the mid west they are every and has to stop to see what all the hype was!!! Coming in the place smells great, everyone is beyond mid west friendly... I got seated right away (bonus) A amazing waitress named Brenda with the most southern accent came to get my order and helped me order right! I was quickly served my food and upon first bite I will say this place is well worth any wait! In closing Brenda is a great server ask for her if you go in, food is over the top amazing and strongly suggest if your driving by a Cracker Barrel then stop in and give it a try! read more

Rename this place Crappy Barrel. Crappy service. Crappy food. 7:45 am, less than 10 tables with customers and it took over 7 minutes to take a drink order and the hostess that sat us did that. Fortunately we knew what we wanted to order because God only knows how long it would have taken to get that done. Salty biscuits heavy enough to use as a boat anchor and I was given the wrong breakfast meat. Our previous experience at a different location was so bad we steered clear of Crappy Barrel for over a year. This trip was no better. IDK if I'll be ever go back. I almost always like Cracker Barrel food. The service was super slow July 3rd 2022. As a party of 7 we expected to wait, but the 20 minutes they told us turned into close to an hour. Starting at 12 we waited 50 minutes to get in and didn't get food until 2:15. The waitress apologized, they were obviously not ready for the crowd. We ate here last night. My order was the Wednesday special of chicken breast with cheese & broccoli. It came out looking like someone's leftovers got scraped onto my plate. There was one tiny chicken tender beneath the broccoli cheese mixture. Not even a chicken breast. My baked potato was underbaked. My side salad was good. Had a good experience here while doing some traveling through Indiana and Illinois. Cracker Barrel always seems to be a good solid choice while traveling if your looking for consistency. The service at this location was great and our breakfast was good as always. read more

I arrived at Cracker Barrel around 2:30pm and was seated immediately. Ashley T was my friendly server who promptly took my beverage order and then my lunch order for Sunday Homestyle Chicken. I chose the garden side salad with Ranch dressing and broccoli as sides. The salad was full of dark leafy greens, tomatoes and cucumber. My broccoli was steamed perfectly (not soggy). The chicken breast was thick, juicy and so flavorful. I only ate one of the two boneless chicken breasts because I was quickly full as the portions were large. Cracker Barrel now offers the Sunday Homestyle Chicken daily and this is great news. read more

Covid Togo set up ok. Paid in advance, went inside to pick up, if you call they'll bring it out, but no gloves or masks anywhere. Food was ok, not special. Stopped in to have lunch. Generally we enjoy Cracker Barrel wherever we stop. Unfortunately the experience at this location was bad. They didn't appear to be busy in lobby area or restaurant. On entry it didn't have the clean appearance of other locations we've been to. We were seated quickly and told waitress would be right with us. We waited for almost 15 mins before someone stopped and said she saw us and would be right with us. We waited another 15 mins for her to come back but never saw her. We finally decided to leave after waiting without any service and noticing several tables around us waiting for their checks for like 20 mins. Every cookie cutter Cracker Barrel is the same you might think, but not so... the staff at this store/restaurant was exceptional. I was traveling with my elderly parents and the staff went above and beyond helping navigating the meal and visit with my parents. They helped me get them from the car into the building, to the restrooms and table. I requested a table close to the entrance since mom can't walk very far. The food of course was fast and delicious... but the staff makes this place a gem. read more
