Basically the grading criteria here is go for Panda Express with a drink an egg roll and 3 dishes for 15.00 USD ...or come here and have slightly better Chinese food, with Alot more options with a drink for 18.00 USD out the door. And if you are making 6 figures a year the no brainer food costs saving measures is to just eat one meal a day a the China Buffett for 5 days during the weekdays, and you're all set for greater inflation savings. About 10-15 years ago these types of all you can eat Chinese buffets were on every corner. Frankly it's how we afforded to eat out during our boys teenage years. This one is exactly like all those used to be, right down to the exact same staple of standard offerings they all seemed to have. Not entirely sure why this place has only 3.5 star??? I'm from Houston,Texas and visiting Effingham for work. We have a ton of options for Chinese cuisine and buffet. This place ranks among some our top options for those categories. The food was great, fresh and hot! I came later for their normal business hours (around 8ish) and everything was still great quality. Being a small buffet there was plenty of options for you choose from and like stated most dishes where on point to taste. These service was friendly and seemed to be on point when asked for something. The place was nice and clean along with the buffet area. Seems to me while I was here there was mix of locals and visitors which is a good sign to me of decent food and service. This place definitely needs more 5 star reviews!! read more

Staple to our eating out. Price is reasonable and they have a price for kids by age. If you're a local get a punch card 10 meal is free. Service is quickly pay as you go in before seated, selfserved drinks, and server picks up plates. This is best way in my opinion for a buffet pay first and eat. That away theres no waiting for the check and when done just leave. Food seems like its kept hot and fresh. Constantly seen cashier going down stirring and radioing back what needs more or new. We decided to stop here despite the low customer ratings. It was convenient, and there were lots of cars in the parking lot, so we figured it couldn't be too bad. To the contrary, we thought it was EXCELLENT. We were en route from Kentucky to St. Louis. We thought it was sufficiently good that we stopped at the start of our trip and again on our way home. I tried at least 10 different items from the buffet line, and honestly everything was more or less tasteless. Much of it had been sitting in the warming pans for far too long. I was In the restroom, someone in the stall next to me left the stall. No water was ran, I seen it was an employee as I came out, she's fixing her clothes, and walks out,. No hand dryer, no paper towels, she didn't need them, she never washed her hands. I complained, she said she did wash them, they never made her go back and ACTUALLY wash them. Another customer said he heard them making fun of me and he and his wife will not be coming back. We won't either!!! You will get charged a $4 fee if you're black. I cannot make this up. My boyfriend and I stopped by here for dinner as we were driving through Effingham. As we made our plates, the cashier proceeds to hover over my boyfriend and tell him that "there's a $4 charge for leftover food plates." Not only did we purchase the meal in advance, but we were also not made aware of this existential buffet fee prior to purchase. (No signs or written text either). This place was nothing special. It's your very average Chinese buffet. It was small, but it had the basics. There isn't very many options that aren't chicken, which I found annoying. The absolute worst black pepper chicken I have ever had and I've had a lot. No flavor, chicken had a weird texture. I asked them to make it spicy and add broccoli. It had like 4 pieces of broccoli and instead of being spicy, they just made it a shit load more oily. This is not your typical china buffet. Not only is the quality of the food good and it's hot but the selection is way beyond the average buffet. I was passing by on the highway, saw the sign came in and I am very happy with the results. We called in advance to and were told they were open for the holiday and of course they had vegetarian options. I would have done better ordering off the menu.
