Best Chinese buffet in the area, bar none. Excellent food, clean restaurant, friendly people. Fresh fruit is always really fresh. Hot food is hot. Good selection. Lunch prices (discount) are applicable until 3pm. I'm pretty persnickety about Chinese food. This is one of the best places in town, and it's all you can eat for a reasonable price. read more

Yummy, greasy, goodness! They have all the typical offerings - General Tsao's, Mongolian beef, sweet 'n sour chicken, potstickers, egg rolls, crab rangoon, cheesy crab bake, fried green beans, two soups, two kinds of rice, two kinds of noodles, etc. I liked the teriyaki chicken because it was tender. Some of the other offerings were tough. The shrimp & vegetable dish was also tasty, and the shrimp had been de-veined. Most of the fruit was canned, but they also had some fresh watermelon and grapes. For dessert, they offered little cakes, jello, almond cookies, fried bananas, sugar-coated donuts, and ice cream with your meal. Other offerings included max & cheese, fried cheese sticks, fried chicken, and cucumber salad. The price was $13.99 for Saturday lunch. The establishment is in a run-down building between a McDonald's and a gas station. I found the place to be mostly clean with a little sticky residue. It wasn't busy, and the staff were friendly. read more

Sunny China Buffet - Prices as of October 2026. - Chinese Near Me - Urbana, Illinois

Tasty food! My favorites are the general's chicken, beef & brocoli, and the fried green beans!

the food was hot and good, they made us pay before we ate but everyone that came in after us didn't have to pay before they sat down for some reason. kinda stereotyping if you ask me but whatever. read more

Great place, quick service and great food!! I use it often for carry-out. I order online and have never had to wait past the time they say it will be ready. read more

$8.99 per person for lunch Monday to Saturday. Sunday is 10.99 per person dinner price all day only. I been coming here after maxing out weight lifting at the planet fitness a couple stores down. I'm after proteins and there's plenty of chicken, beef and shrimp with veggies to consume. $11 after tax and tips and it's still a cheap meal. read more

Sunny China Buffet - a plate of food on a table - Chinese Near Me - Urbana, Illinois

Food is okay. Be aware drink is not included you have to pay 2.99 more per person. The price is reasonable. The staff is friendly.

All my favorite dishes! Crab Rangoon, pot stickers, beef & broccoli, the angel hair pasta I don't know the name of, lots of shrimp!

Customer service: A. I came here on a Sunday and it was fairly busy. Nonetheless, my table was seated promptly. Our waters were refilled without having to ask and plates were cleared quickly. Cleanliness: B-. The floors could use some vacuuming but the bathroom and food area were clean. Quality of food: C. When it comes to rating a restaurant, food is what matters most. I don't want to be fooled by a great review because someone thought the bathrooms are nice. It's about the food. Don't rate a restaurant generously because you like the brand of soap they happen to use. The selection isn't vast by any means. You have your typical chicken items like BBQ/sesame/general Tso chicken and noodle dishes like lomein. Seafood options are limited. You have baked clams, bacon wrapped shrimp and imitation crab bake. The clams were a little dry but the shrimp and imitation crab are okay dishes. This is definitely Americanized Chinese. Most items are very sweet like the chicken and pork dishes. Nothing stands out as fantastic but this isn't the worst buffet I've been to. The fruit tasted like it was from a can but if you like the syrup flavor then go to town on it. A little boy was manning the register which made me laugh. Typical Asian parents putting kids to work before their teen years hit because hey, what's an Asian parent without their unrealistic expectations placed upon us and the life long stress we have to exceed those expectations right? Just kidding. The ladies and young boy are nice. If this restaurant adds more variety to their menu and less sugar in everything it has a chance. read more

This place was good enough. Here are the list of impressions in this place. Cheap price for variety of food, acceptable hygiene (clean dining area compare to other all you can eat Chinese restaurant), middle level of food quality, quite friendly, enough parking place, also enough tables, no waiting... read more

I stopped for lunch at Sunny China Buffet almost as soon as it opened at 11:00 on a Sunday. All of the items on the buffet were very fresh and looked great. There are three buffet areas; appetizers / soups, entrees / sides and salad / desserts. I started with hot and sour soup and egg rolls. The soup was bland, but the egg rolls were fresh and crispy. All of the chicken dishes I tried (peanut chicken, black pepper chicken and sweet & sour) were very good. Lo mein noodles with vegetables was also tasty. All of the desserts appear to be purchased (almond cookies, pastries, pudding) instead of house made. I had almond cookies and lychee fruit (canned I believe, but good). A half dozen flavors of scoop-your-own ice cream sit in their own little freezer next to the dessert buffet too. One thing that made me smile was the baked macaroni and cheese that was on the entree buffet, clearly there to accommodate parents who want to go out for Chinese, and bring their kids along. I thought that was a nice touch. Service (for beverages, condiments like Chinese mustard, and delivering the check) was prompt and friendly. read more

REVISIT story I'm so bummed to have returned here while visiting family and see how badly the service has gone down to. The food is STILL great but the ladies here have grown callous and super rude. read more

Looking for a cheap - not high quality - chinese buffet? here ya go, you'll find all your classic american favorites (orange chicken, beef and brocolli, crab rangoon, fried rice etc) but the plus side, CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP. Good place for just a I'm starving but Broke restaurant read more

I love Sunny Buffet!! It is the place I crave when I want peanut chicken! The staff knows me and my family and they are always so helpful. Highly recommend if you want a simple atmosphere and delicious food. read more

Cheap buffet, but doesn't have a big variety of food. The food is very good although it is very Americanized. This place has been around for many years and if you're craving cheap food this is one of the best places in the area! I do think they need to switch out the food some more, sometimes there tends to be cold food laying around or dishes that are finished and are not replaced quickly enough, specially for lunch. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant! It won't let you down! read more

Food quality remains very good. Every time, it satisfied my anticipation. Highly recommend this Chinese buffet.

I really like this place! It's been around for a long time now and I always know I can count on them for lots of yummy fixings. They are a little more limited on the number of options compared to other buffets; however, I think the options they do have are well thought out "classics". The facility is always clean and tidy. read more

By far the greatest thing to have ever graced my mouth. Amazing general tso's chicken.

The service was impeccable. Qing-tan was so nice, she treats you just like family! The food could be better, but nothing beats the value here. We will come back here again when we visit our son Michael Mwarm at the University of Illinois. He is studying agribusiness. read more

It pretty good, Not sure if it's authentic but some of the food definitely has an American twist to it. You really never have to wait a long time. (it's a buffet after all) read more

Its super good buffet everytime same food same quality no matter they are busy or slow but there food is always good :)

Seriously, the best Chinese buffet I've ever had. It does not have a huge selection (it's a smaller place), but everything it has is great. I love the mei fun noodles and fried scallops. They also have a variety of chicken dishes that are terrific. I come here twice a week. read more

Everything I have tried on there buffet is amazing but I especially love their Peanut Chicken. #1 reason I come here! I go at least once or twice a week! read more

Never been a fan of Chinese buffets because of the poor quality of food, but I didnt run into anything bad here! I highly recommend the try!

The food, well, is much better than what you expect from a $8 dinner buffet.

Food wise, this place is amazing. But I paid with my card, left a $5 tip and went about my day. I checked my bank account and they'd charged me an extra $5! So I paid $26 when I was there and had a $31 charge later on in the day. Never again. read more

A long morning on the road and Chinese sounded good so here I am. I wouldn't say the staff is friendly but they are attentive and did well refilling my drink. The food variety is pretty basic with the normal selections for a Chinese restaurant, but some American choices offered as well. The food was good, hot, and fresh. The interior of the building is showing wear in places but is clean nonetheless. If you're in the area stop by, but I wouldn't go out of my way. read more

I used to go here every Friday night. The buffet is still very good but service has deteriorated. I was seated at a table (although I asked for a booth). They kept seated people at the same table. It was loud and not private at all. If you must go here, go at 2 p.m. or so when you might be able to sit where you are comfortable. I won't be going back. read more

OK for a Chinese buffet. Very good selection. Best crab rangoon in town. Prices are reasonable for lunch and dinner.

Worst ever. Only go if you want to be sick for days. The food they have out has been sitting for ages and is not even hot. Rice is dried out. Floor hasn't been cleaned in years. Avoid! read more

it's ok, very good for the price range. very cheap.

The selection here is average, but you get a lot of food for your money, especially since they let you take out, which is probably a better deal, since you probably won't eat that much in a single setting. read more

Terrible. Cold. Nasty. I was compelled to file a complaint with the department of public health. Never again.

We drove 40 minutes in for the crab rangoon and pepper/onion shrimp, that we found there last week, while in Urbana. After arriving and getting one helping of the great food we had been anticipating, they pulled it off of the buffet and refused to make more. Saying that they were out for the evening. I know they were not out of shrimp because they replaced the pepper shrimp, with a shrimp vegetable mix, on the buffet. I will not be going back after the refusal of the management to serve what is normally on the buffet and rude service following the request. read more

This was our favorite place during my first year here from China. The food is typical Americanized Chinese, kinda greasy; but the price was truly affordable for students and you can eat a looot, including fresh fruits and vegetables. The owner was super nice too. read more

My family and I returned to this Chinese buffet restaurant because of their good food but this time we had a bad experience with them, their food is good but they are lacking in customer service. First, their pricing is deceptive, what you see at the door is not what they charge you, they charge two dollars for their drinks, you would think that it will be included with the meal. They went behind our backs to ask my two younger kids their ages, while we were eating they were staring at us and talking in their language, the look on their faces tells it all.Lastly we were there roughly thirty five minutes when they brought us our bill, We had to leave because we were uncomfortable,am not sure that we will return to this location again. read more
