This is by far the best place in Champaign Urbana area to get Chinese food. It's a little gem on green street on campus town. The service is quick, you put your order in directly through an app on the table. In the evenings around dinner time, it gets busy but the wait time is not too bad. The ambiance is like that of any other place on green street. Let's talk about the food- oh so good! The dumplings are so good- perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned and the variations of sauces to choose from is a great thing to have. We tried the dumplings in numbing oil and it was out of this world. We also tried the spicy chicken wings and hotpot for 2 people. Both were equally delicious. The spicy items are going to be on point so try the spicy items if you can handle the heat. The staff is friendly and you can always tell them to make it less spicy. Highly recommend this place if you're in campus town or in CU area.

Food is good. The servers are nice. Place is also clean and very comfy. I recommend this place if your craving for a chinese food

Fry egg with Fry Egg with Tomato

I tried a few more dishes, including their tomato and egg stir fry and duck soup, crispy and sweet fish, and green beans/eggplant dish. I want to start off with the bad and why I took off a star: Their duck soup is an actual eating hazard, I DON'T recommend to customers and really request that the restaurant reconsider how they make this dish. Despite having great flavor and lots of ingredients I like (woodear mushroom, tofu skin, clear glass noodles, bok choy, some spice), the duck that is included is cut into TINY pieces WITH THE BONE INCLUDED (see photo). This means that you are very likely to injure yourself/teeth by accidentally biting down on bone. I didn't finish the dish because it felt like there wasn't a single piece of meat that didn't have bone in it, and sometimes pieces of bones would get caught in the other ingredients. They should either include bigger pieces of meat+bone on top of the noodles so the bone is more easily recognized and removed or just put in meat without bones. Otherwise, I'd say the rest of the dishes I got were good. The crispy/sweet fish didn't survive the drive back home as well so I recommend ordering when you're eating in the restaurant for maximally crispiness. The green beans and eggplant dish was good but my favorite is the tomato and egg stir fry which was fantastic. Perfect for when you're looking for something warm and savory but not too heavy.

Incredible food, probably the best Chinese in the area. Very authentic and deep and complex flavors.

Food is typical American Chinese food. Some of dishes are taste good and some of them taste plain.

The food is the finest Asian fare around and avoids the common error of over spicing the food. The Mapo Tofu is remarkable and each of the items we shared in our group excelled in its taste and presentation. The decor is simple and elegant amplifying the peaceful mood that surrounds the diners. Each server was polite, gracious and accommodating without hovering or intruding. Do yourself a favor and set aside a day to visit Northern Cuisine and you will not regret it.

The two dishes we ordered were a bit on the sweet side, which isn't atypical for the dishes themselves, so kind of an error on our part. They had celtuce so we had to order it, it was tender and light and flavorful. The dumplings is good but a bit meat heavy than I would've preferred. Skin is very thin, like wonton skin. The scallions pancakes are perfectly panfried. The Beijing yogurt is not at all correct, it's stickier than I'm used to and not as smooth and flavor is a bit flat than the actual ones. Coconut pudding was unremarkable, doesn't stand out. Overall, the foods were good. We probably could've ordered better.

We ordered: 1. Pork & Egg w/ Bean Sauce Dry Noodle…read more2. Szechuan style Beef Noodle Soup Very pleased that UIUC now has meal access to a Chinese noodle specialty shop. Flavor of the fermented bean sauce was good and I liked the chewiness of the noodles. Friends liked the Szechuan beef broth flavor and the beef chunks were tender. This will be very nice in the cold winters. No issues with service and there's a good amount of seating for small to medium size groups.

Great fast-casual noodles for lunch near campus…read more The food is simply prepared and delicious. I ordered the first item on the menu: Bok Choy in Chili Oil Noodle. The hearty noodles were chewy with a slight taste of rice -- neither too refined nor over cooked. The beef broth brought the dish's rich taste and gave it some depth, while the bok choy and green onions in the soup were fresh and crispy. Even though the chili oil was a treat, it overpowered the broth and veggies so that I'd consider omitting it from the order. The restaurant was crowded with lunch-goers when I stopped in, but the turnaround on my order was fast. If you need a bite and want something simple and well made, his could be your spot.
