My favorite wontons are mapo, green pepper, and hot chili oil wontons. My second favorite item is the sliced spicy pork belly dish! When you arrive, you scan the menu from your phone and order at your table. The food comes out relatively quickly. The max number of people I've come with is 6, so if you have a party of more than 6 you might have to split up into smaller tables. read more

Despite the flaws in service, ordering, and seating and the fact that this place appears to be built into the side of an apartment complex, the food here is actually really good. The wonton soup that my cousin got was flavorful and rich but not heavy, the potato, vegetable stir fry that his friend got was tasty as well but honestly the highlights of the meal were the pork and chili oil appetizer and the fried and spicy fish. That fish fry was some of the crispiest fish I've had in a very long time and the way it was seasoned was enough to make your mouth numb and question your life decisions but in the best way possible. They do not skimp on the spice here if you get something that has spice in it. Honestly will come back despite the weird seating and location. This is by far the best place in Champaign Urbana area to get Chinese food. It's a little gem on green street on campus town. The service is quick, you put your order in directly through an app on the table. In the evenings around dinner time, it gets busy but the wait time is not too bad. The ambiance is like that of any other place on green street. Let's talk about the food- oh so good! The dumplings are so good- perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned and the variations of sauces to choose from is a great thing to have. We tried the dumplings in numbing oil and it was out of this world. We also tried the spicy chicken wings and hotpot for 2 people. Both were equally delicious. The spicy items are going to be on point so try the spicy items if you can handle the heat. The staff is friendly and you can always tell them to make it less spicy. Had lunch here with our family and friends while attending our son's commencement. All dishes we ordered were delicious. One friend said this is the best Chinese food she has ever had. I tried a few more dishes, including their tomato and egg stir fry and duck soup, crispy and sweet fish, and green beans/eggplant dish. I want to start off with the bad and why I took off a star: Their duck soup is an actual eating hazard, I DON'T recommend to customers and really request that the restaurant reconsider how they make this dish. Despite having great flavor and lots of ingredients I like (woodear mushroom, tofu skin, clear glass noodles, bok choy, some spice), the duck that is included is cut into TINY pieces WITH THE BONE INCLUDED (see photo). This means that you are very likely to injure yourself/teeth by accidentally biting down on bone. I didn't finish the dish because it felt like there wasn't a single piece of meat that didn't have bone in it, and sometimes pieces of bones would get caught in the other ingredients. They should either include bigger pieces of meat+bone on top of the noodles so the bone is more easily recognized and removed or just put in meat without bones. Otherwise, I'd say the rest of the dishes I got were good. The crispy/sweet fish didn't survive the drive back home as well so I recommend ordering when you're eating in the restaurant for maximally crispiness. The green beans and eggplant dish was good but my favorite is the tomato and egg stir fry which was fantastic. Ordered salt and pepper shrimp. Who ever saw it breaded with the shell on it. When you opened it up the shrimp was disgusting. Not cleaned and not deveined. The bill, with cold fried beef rice, was 42.00 and definitely not worth it. Oh and waitress, offer your customer some soy sauce before you leave and never come back and bring some straws. read more

I like that they update their menu very often and we always get to try new stuff. They have very good Hunan food.

So, as an American, I don't know much about authentic food. However, I'm pretty sure this is about as real as it gets! They have a lot of menu items that I have never seen locally. The sliced pork with garlic and chili oil is INCREDIBLE. I also had the wontons in seaweed soup, which was so good! My partner got the fried rice with pork and green pepper, and it was fantastic. Seems to be very authentic. I'm only giving four stars because I did wait 45 minutes after the time they said it would be ready. That being said, it was Sunday morning and I ordered at 11:30 AM. It said it would be ready at noon. It was ready about 1245. I think the reason for the delay was because a lot of people ordered before they were open and they had to catch up. If you order the sweet crispy fish or whatever it's called, I would not recommend eating it in your vehicle. We ordered the numbing wontons thinking it'll be one of the best spicy/numbing wontons ever. But it turns out to be very little numbing and not spicy at all. It looks real good (too much sauce tho, more like soup that's not even good) but the taste is far from good. The wontons itself was not that good either. I just moved to Champaign from Los Angeles where there are many many authentic Chinese restaurants so I was concerned I wouldn't be able to find a good Chinese restaurant in a small midwestern town like Champaign, but this restaurant is just as good or better than the places I've been to in LA. The chef at this restaurant is incredibly talented. S/he serves a range of Sichuan and other dishes, and they are invariably excellent. I've tried a bunch of dishes so far; my favorites are the hot chili oil wonton, the diced chicken with pickled mustard greens, and the sweet and crispy fish. I've been here three times and the food has been excellent each time. There are photos of each dish on their website and on a tablet if you eat there, so you can get a sense of what you're ordering if their food is unfamiliar.
