I had a great first experience at Joe Sippers with my Dad for lunch. He had the Cuban and raved about it. I had a salad and the humus appetizer and everything was great and the portions were large enough to take some home. I also had the delicious hibiscus tea and we shared the gooey butter cake that was the star of the show. Will happily head back next time we are in town. read more

Think Starbucks, but with more food selection and music-- sometimes live. The sandwiches are great, even if they are smaller in size than what most guys, like me, would like. Kinda a "chic sandwich" joint, but with great sandwiches. Their ingredients and cheeses are upgraded from the norm. Minus 1 star for not making ginormous sandwiches for us dudes. read more

I absolutely love this place. It's my first pick for breakfast and lunch. Sometimes dinner if I want something light. I love taking friends here for coffee and dessert also. Great place to sit and visit with friends. The owners are great people and keep everything fresh and delicious. My favorites are the salads and the Italian panini sandwich. Another Yelp win. We make the trip from Peoria to Nashville frequently and usually just eat fast food. This time we tried to find lunch through Yelp, and we are very glad we did. The food was fresh, creative and tasty, with genuine vegan options. The red pepper soup, while not vegan, is worth cheating for. I'm giving this cafe 5 stars for quality and rarity. read more

Joe Sippers is a great little cafe in Effingham. I used to come to Effingham every now and again to visit my moms family when I was younger. Joes is a great addition to the community! Great customer service and great food! We ordered the herbivorian wrap, southwest salad, nachos, two grilled cheese sandwiches, an americano and a cappuccino. So happy we chose local! Our family is passing through town on a road trip and we opted to bypass the convenience of the chain options by I-70 to hit up Joe Sippers. Best decision ever! Not only do they offer online ordering where you can alter the items (huge for me with food allergies!) but it was hot and ready when we arrived. They offer nondairy alternatives for coffee milk, including oat milk, my fave! The service was friendly, the food was DELICIOUS and it felt good to support such a great local business. read more

Stopped in on our way through back to Saint Louis for a picker upper. I grabbed an iced vanilla latte and a gourmet grilled cheese with bacon. My daughter had a grilled cheese. My wife got an iced hazelnut latte. We both really liked the toasted roasty flavor of the beans, and how they try to source locally like cheese from Marcoot creamery etc. Good non corporate chain coffee stop in Effingham. We make sure to stop here every year on our way East for vacation. We have bought a mug, coffee, sox. We were fans and so we made plans to stop again. We are sorry we did. We bought coffee, local honey and a latte and left a generous tip anticipating another good experience. It was not. It took a half hour to get a latte. We watched people come and go who ordered after us. When I asked the barista about it- he said I will get you next. Was it because we weren't locals? Because we were wearing masks? I ordered the Caprese Breakfast Wrap and my partner ordered the Breakfast Wrap with bacon and an extra egg- altogether it only cost $10!! Although the price was low, the quality was high! The food came out within a few minutes of ordering and was nice 'n' hot. The staff were all very friendly and happy to answer any questions we had. The bathrooms were clean and although they were labeled with genders, we didn't notice a difference between them. They could easily be gender neutral. A lucky Yelp find on our way from MO to MD. We stopped by for a late lunch. My husband had a Santa Fe wrap and chicken corn chowder, my son had the pesto melt (served with chips and salsa), and I had the southwest salad and the chowder. It was all fresh and delicious. I especially enjoyed the chowder. Very flavorful and spicy but not painfully so! The only miss for me was the salad dressing, which tasted bottled. I'd be surprised if it was because everything else was fresh prepared. It just wasn't as yummy as it could have been which was a shame because the salad was as really good. We'd totally come back. Not being a coffee fanatic, a vegetarian or into healthy food all that much, I found this place to be somewhat boring. The service is good. The decor is somewhat hodge-podge. I personally find the menu limited, and the food on the bland side. I found the clientele a bit on the yuppie, or hippyesh side of the fence. I could see if your into coffee, wanting a small snack, and want to simply veg and read a book, this probably is not a bad place to come to. The prices are reasonable. If you're looking for bar munchie food, thick sandwiches stuffed with good meats, and nice bread, this probably is not the place for you. read more

Drove from Indy to Kansas City and needed to stop for food. The online ordering menu made it super easy and convenient, it has a bunch of options for each item so you can customize it. We had the Thai vegan wrap, the Santa Fe wrap and the turkey, bacon cranberry sandwich. All three were delicious and perfectly toasted. So, I have friends in the Effingham area who insisted on patronizing the local Starbucks that is located on "restaurant row". This is the street just off of the interstate (70 and 57 meet here) where all of the franchised restaurants can be found in town. I encouraged them to support local business and this is one of those places. This place is in a great space. There are big windows in the front that allow in tons of light on the abundant seating. Then as you head towards the back (was obviously a service garage in it's past) there is even more seating and even a stage. The coffee is always delicious and freshly brewed and the food choices are fresh and made to order. The exception is the bakery goods in the counter display. These are locally made treats that go great with a nice cup of coffee or tea. There are many different board games and books throughout the place and make it a cool place to meet up for a casual night of coffee and games with friends. Also, on certain nights they have great local musicians who come in and perform. I'm so glad this place has survived in Effingham. I don't live here any longer, but when I'm in town it's a nice break away from the franchised, boring same old same old. Although their smoothies were a little gross (mix, not fresh/frozen fruit), it was clear from looking around the shop that they source most of their products at a higher standard than the average small-town Illinois coffee shop. A lot of the brands were things you'd find in a Whole Foods. Service was friendly, and the store itself was clean and spacious. On a weekday afternoon, less than half the seats were occupied, and a few people with laptops looked like they hadn't moved in hours.
