Worst thai food I've ever had Nothing like i've ever tasted before Service was really slow Waitresses barely spoke english Not worth your time. read more

While visiting family in NJ, 4 of us went to dinner here and the service was excellent. The wait staff was very attentive, and answered all of our questions enthusiastically. The Tom-Ka soup (coconut milk based) was amazing and the large was big enough for all of us to have a small amount. I ordered the Mus Mann chicken curry with cashew nuts and thought it was equally as good until I was eating my leftovers the next day and chomped down on a huge, uncut or peeled chuck of ginger. Now I'm a huge fan of ginger, but this was clearly not meant to be in the dish. Putting that aside, the portions are large enough to have leftovers the next day and the prices are very reasonable. Just an fyi, it's BYOB. read more

A pleasant experience! We ordered Satay for appetizer. I had better. Entree: Moo Yang! He loved it. Pra Ram! Amazingly Yummy! The spicyness didn't take over the taste. It was a cute atmosphere, but a little too quite for me. However, the food was so good I look forward to going again. read more

We were going to eat there this evening from what smells like dirty rags was overwhelming..there was a fan on the floor blowing air from floor level I would imagine that brings up dirt dust from the floors. Sorry we left never trying the food. read more

Solid Thai, I always get takeout from here. Green or Red vegetable curry is my go to. About $10 for large container. It's worth it when craving Thai. read more

Favorite Thai spot EVER. This is a typical date night place for me and my lady. The Chicken Satay & Kanom Jeeb are amazing appetizers. I usually get the Pad Thai or Pad Cee Ew as a main. The ambiance is very zen with peaceful music. It's BYOB as well. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the Bloomfield area! read more

I am extremely picky about Thai food, especially because I have been habituated to having authentic Thai cuisine in my cross-country experience . I thought that I could never go wrong with Thai food, it's simply wonderful everywhere. After moving here, I was hoping to find the same taste in NYC but I was disappointed each time. NYC offers good Thai food, mostly a fusion of American-Thai or low-fat Thai (pleasantly surprised by that!) however they barely come close to authentic Thai cuisine offered in the suburbs. Some people love the low-fat curries, but I prefer the real authentic experience. After a couple of disappointments, I found Brookside Thai and decide to give it a go. When I walked into the restaurant, I knew looking at the decor that "This is it! We're at the right place finally!" The food really was OUT OF THIS WORLD!! There were ample vegetarian options as well. The waiter was extremely cordial and the ambiance was great . The owners have done a fantastic job with the interiors, especially the seating area with plush cushions. Very spacious as well, so perfect for families. I don't remember last when my husband and I had such a lovely time together savoring our meal without being rushed like in NYC. This really was a country-side dining experience. We'll come all the way here, even if we live in the boroughs! read more

Brookside Thai is a great place for amazing and flavorful thai food. The service is alright but they are friendly. Its fairly priced being a BYOB place so you can definitely have a full meal for 2 under $35. I highly recommend the thai mussels(if you can handle the heat) and papaya salad. They are my favorite dishes from brookside thai. read more

The good: affordable and BYOB apparently The bad: lacking in taste So I ordered the chicken pad Thai.. figured that's a good measure of Thai places.. should've known when I asked for "medium spiciness" and was told they don't cook it like that but will give me the chili oil on side.. erm ok..? That's a first.. I kind of indicate my level of preferred spiciness from years of ordering Thai but okay.. Was the driest lack luster pad Thai I've ever had. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing? But it's not like one goes to KFC to order a steak.. ok moving on.. I also ordered a noodle dish which ended up being noodle soup.. well that's fine but couldn't eat it. It was an oily gloppy kinda sweet soup? Um no. And where is the meat..? Thanks, I'll pass. I get that it's inexpensive, but that doesn't mean you have to suffer in quality.. On the flip side the Thai iced tea was one of the best I've ever had. I hate to give a negative review but this was my experience. read more

This place the food is Authentic the waitress May is so nice ...makes jokes love it ... the food is great i had the Pad ki mao ..very spicey and nice ...owner was the best great place overall read more

I honestly think that this itty bitty location is the best Thai food in NJ... I used to live in Bloomfield, within walking distance. This is the ONLY thing I miss about living in Essex county (near good 'ol NJIT!) They have many vegetarian options, as well- AND you can ask for tofu in place of meat in almost any dish regardless. Since I've moved, they've renovated (quite well I might add) but the prices remained the same. The portions MAY be a BIT smaller than 4 years ago? But still- BYOB and cheap fare for a great atmosphere and excellant food. I've never had to wait (lucky?!) and I've never been disappointed. read more

Service is great. Everyone is super nice. Decor is very pretty. Love that its BYOB. Red curry was good but too spicy for me. Next time I'll ask for very mild. We got other stuff but I don't remember what they were. Will be back the next time we're craving thai. read more

This is far and away the best Thai place I have found in Northern NJ. The service is excellent, the food is amazing, there is fantastic variety, and the prices are extremely reasonable. BYOB read more

The best Thai food we've found in Essex County. Spicy steamed mussels and deep fried whole fish with chili sauce and basil=heaven. read more

Excelent! Excellent! Second best Thai restaurant I've been too. Loved the variety of choices! I had the spring rolls and the gang ped yang! I will definitely be back! read more

Brookside Thai gets Five-Stars for several reasons. Prompt, friendly service Pleasant atmosphere-not stuffy nor too casual Menu items very fresh and tasty. I had the pad khing (chicken), which was loaded with fresh vegetables and packed a good wallop of ginger. Requested the pad khing slightly hotter, which came out quite nicely. The prices are very very reasonable:$9 to $12 for a main course, $3 to $5 for an appetizer. BYOB read more

Read some Yelp reviews about this place and decided to give it a try. Really good quality Thai food. Nice little byob restaurant. Waitresses were very polite and were helpful in making recommendations. Started off with the Thai steamed mussels in lemongrass, basil, garlic and spicy lime sauce. Comes with a side of green chili sauce for dipping. Great flavors and the green chili sauce gave it a nice little added boost of spice. The whole fried red snapper with chili sauce was outstanding. Skin was crisp, inside moist and the chili sauce a had nice mixture of spicy and sweetness. Hot Thai tea with Thai custard was a nice finish to an excellent meal. read more

Spring rolls and green curry were both absolutely delicious! Although I got carry out so I can't judge the service for dine in, I can say that the clerk who helped me at the front was super sweet and friendly and considerate enough to ask and make sure I had utensils and sauces I needed. I'd def stop by again for some yummy Thai food. read more

Lots of traditional Thai food--lots of space, good salad, dumplings, Thai ice tea . The spring rolls were greasy and the curry puffs were heavy and over fried. Pad Thai, vegetarian was heavy in tofu and light on veggies. The seafood medley in garlic sauce was served with undercooked shrimp and was returned to the chef. The duck was delicious as was the chicken birds best. It is a BYOB establishment with very nice service. read more

Brookside Thai Restaurant - Thai garden salad - Thai Near Me - Bloomfield, New Jersey

Excellent service and delicious food. We had a whole fish which was hot spicy and plenty for three adults. Would definitely visit again and again. Bring your own wine, beer or champagne - loved it. My 4* is because it was cold always cold. Went a second time and had whole fried fish with chili sauce - out of this world read more

I really love this place. The minute i step in i feel hungry from the aroma of all the food surrounding me. The curry puffs are so delish. Tasty and great. I ALWAYS get the chicken panang entree. It is so good!!! The great things about this place are 1- affordability 2- everything you order has a vegetarian counterpart 3- parking in the rear and 4- coconut milk may be fattening but it tastes awesome. I have been to a few other thai places in jersey and nyc, but this takes the cake. read more

I did only take-out, but I will definitely make an effort to dine-in next time. The food was great and not too greasy or heavy. The Pad Thai was light and airy and delicious. The Thai Iced Tea was good and so were the Spring Rolls and the soup. My order came up to 20, but I have leftovers so its was definitely a meal for 10. Worth the trip if you're in the Bloomfield area. read more

The food is more westernised. We ordered a soup which came out lukewarm and sweet. We sent it back (a first for me) and then it came out warm and spicy. It is not perfect but ok. The entrées were a bit oily. The rice and noodles were more like Chinese places with some thai spices. Overall decent place but not that great food. read more

Wow. Finally found a great Thai restaurant in North Jersey. BYOB

Finally went back and food still just as good. Service a bit better but haven't attempted a large take out order. Eating in and small take out seems to be good read more

Came here for restaurant week, ordered pad Thai and Panang curry. Wouldn't return here for Thai, flavors were not great, very bland. The pad Thai didn't actually taste like pad Thai lacking peanut taste completely...tasted like another noodle dish. Appetizer sampler was heavily fried. read more

This is my wife and my favorite restaurant by a lot. The food is amazing, the service is excellent and they treat us like family. It's a BYO, which we love and there is a huge vegetarian menu which is also right up our alley. I strongly recommend it. read more

Some of the best Thai food I have had in the area. It was extremely light and fresh. The service was very well paced and friendly. We were on a a bit of a tight schedule and they picked up on that and were very prompt. It was very busy with both eat in and take out on this Saturday night, but the atmosphere was very controlled. We loved it! read more

YUM! The vegetarian sampler appetizer is amazing. The pad see ew is SO delicious. I got some other vegetarian noodle dish that I really enjoyed.... except it was SO spicy it made my mouth hurt, and I had to stop eating it. If the dish you order claims to be spicy-- believe it! The atmosphere and service were awesome. Small, friendly, and great place. I can't wait to go back! read more

I'm Thai, this place is the shit. Don't waste your time on pad thai and fried rice, this isn't the spot for that. The food is very authentic. I love the numerous choices of curry. Can't go wrong with Kow Soy. Try their monthly special or fried whole fish, you won't be disappointed. It's a really good spot for real thai taste. read more

Brookside Thai Restaurant - Here we go, pad thai! - Thai Near Me - Bloomfield, New Jersey

They need to hire a proper host and/or waiter because the older lady that is always there is beyond rude! She either needs to get some proper etiquette training or stop dealing with customers. I visit this place often with the same group of friends each time and we've mentioned in the past that she can come off as being annoyed or in a bad mood. However we chose to ignore it and just enjoy our meals. But today they lost a customer for sure solely based off her attitude. read more

The food is great, but I can't say the same for service. The servers find it troublesome to serve and often need a few reminders to get things... slowly. The hostess is also not very welcoming and very argumentative. She interrupted our meal to talk about appropriate use of spices and completely spoiled our meal. I politely tried to share feedback but instead of taking the feedback it turned into an unnecessary discussion. read more

I have no idea what all of the complaints about the service are about on the other reviews, but our experience yesterday was the complete and total opposite. We arrived just as the restaurant opened and were greeted so warmly, it was as though we were arriving at someone's home. We chatted with the hostess and she was LOVELY. The ambiance of the restaurant is calm and inviting. Did the other reviewers even go tot the same place we did? The food was incredibly good. The best Thai we've had in the area. Curry puffs were amazing, duck and larb salads stellar and the pumpkin curry was to DIE for. By the time we left we were so full we could hardly move, but it was well worth the waddle to the car. Combo apps for two, two salads, two main courses = $57! You seriously cannot beat this place. GO! GO! GO! read more

Great food great environment. Delicious taste authentic.

Easily the best Thai food that I've had anywhere near Montclair. Extremely authentic if you get one of the specials - flavors are not for the timid - but if you have the courage to try you'll be rewarded. Whole fish dishes are superb here. Well worth seeking out. read more

It pains me to write this review as this has been my favorite Thai restaurant for many years. I'm not sure what happened once the pandemic started but this was the worse meal Ive had. The basic pad Thai was totally white, sauce less and too sweet. The soup had no flavor and was way too watery. Please Brookside I can only imagine how tough things have been, but my only scape is food once a week (what I can afford) and to be discounted with the quality is an understatement. read more

Twice I ordered take out from this place and they did not put utensils to go. It's annoying and inconvenient. TWICE and I guess I never learned. My co-worker has the same experience! So this must be what they do regularly. How do they expect us to eat their food- I guess, with our bare hands or maybe eat it like a dog off the plate on the go. Food is good... but there are several other Thai places with good food or better that will take care of their customers better. read more
