A beautiful biodynamic winery in the Willamette Valley! The tasting room had tables as well as a fair amount of bar seating which allowed us to hang out for awhile and learn about there wines. They did offer cheese plates as well, rinsed the tasting glass between reds and whites (I like that). I thought Lauren, our host was knowledgeable, and we never felt rushed. My husband joined the club here, the Pinot Noirs were superb, our favorite was the 2014 Old vine Pommard. We also enjoyed the 2016 Ara Reisling. You can taste red or white or a combination, the fee is waived if you buy. If you text your favorite to a phone number, you get a bonus pour which is kind of fun! However, most places will give you a bonus pour! We joined the club here, and will look forward to our shipment! read more

We visited on Memorial Day with reservations. Tyson was our server and was great, very informative. I was shocked to learn, as we left, that he has only worked here 3 weeks!! Since we are members we have been here many times and the food is always good with several vegan options as well as gluten free I have noticed. This place is amazing from reservation to food and wine to finish! We made a reservation online, got a text to confirm and boom we were in! We arrived 30 minutes early and were seated right away. This is our first time to this winery and the view did not disappoint! We ordered lunch and a bottle of wine for the table. The food and wine did not disappoint! Our visit to Brooks was wonderful! The winery is beautiful and the views from the outside patio were wonderful. My friend and I were seated in a comfortable couch setting. Zachary greeted us and was so friendly and accommodating. My friend likes Riesling and I like Pinot Noir. He made sure we got the best tasting. The nice thing about Brooks is they serve food so we made an 11:30 reservation and enjoyed lunch there. I would highly recommend visiting this winery. read more

We have been wine members here for about 2 years now and we love it ! Brooks has the best vibe and service. They have a lovely seating area as well as a gorgeous outside patio! When it comes to trying new things or just changing it up for the season they are the BEST ! Jacob is quite literally the sweetest server EVER ! He always treats me and my partner including our friends like family ! We love to come and drink good wine but also to visit Jacob ! Gerry is wine . Love coming to this winery, the atmosphere, views, wine and people are great. We sat on the lower level near the fire pits which was great ambiance but glad we brought our own blankets as it was still chilly! The grilled cheese with tomato bisque and the brussel sprouts were delicious! We shared a bottle of their Sparkling Riesling and loved it ! Jaime was our server and she was so kind and hospitable. No where does it promote "Reservations Required". We walked into a half filled venue and was told they were "slammed" and could not accommodate two people. She didn't ask what we wanted. You have to go there! It's the best experience ever! From the Get-go, it had us at "Hello!" We ordered the wine tasting for mixed wines: whites and reds. I loved the Riesling. The men loved the Pinot Noirs. It's a fabulous, relaxing, exhilarating experience. It overlooks the Valley. And there's food! We had the Hazelnuts and the Olives. We arrived for our 1pm appointment 20 minutes early. We were told that we could not sit down in the lobby area and wait for our table. We had to leave the tasting room . I would not suggest that you arrive at this property early. They missed out on a golden opportunity to sell a glass of wine to our party of five right then and there. We were then seated down below under the tasting room deck. The day was not sunny so I would not suggest that you sit in this area unless it's a nice warm day. Even with the fire pits and the blanket offerings it was chilly. Our server was nice but it seemed at times that we were completely forgotten about. We ordered flights of wine along with food. The flights were well taken care of by our server but the food was not so much. The table was very small and the food was crowded up on the table. We had to ask for plates which were quite small and then again no silverware was ever offered or given to us. Eating brussels sprouts with our fingers was interesting. The server was busy and seem to not pay much attention to us. Once the bottle of water was drank that was at our table when we first arrived,never offered up again. We have been looking forward to come to this winery for years and we were all so disappointed in the end. Don't need to go back or purchase any of the wines. read more

I'm such a fan of Brooks! Not only is the wine fantastic but the estate is beautifully manicured and really adds to the whole experience. There are a number of different areas in which to relax and enjoy your wine. The staff is kind and knowledgeable about their wines. I got the charcuterie plate and it was fabulous and higher quality than many of the other wineries I've visited in the area. My wife and I had a tasting last week and it was a very pleasant experience. The staff took all the necessary pandemic-related precautions and we felt very safe. We enjoyed the variety of Pinot Noir we tried as well as the dry Rieslings. We also augmented our tasting by trying the French onion soup and the warm chili & paprika hazelnuts - perfect for a cool day! Since Oregon will be locking down again soon due to the governor's mandate, we felt very fortunate to get in when we did. I recommend making a tasting reservation when Oregon reopens or ordering wine online to show your support; you can't go wrong with any of the Pinots! read more

We met up with friends "masks and all" for an afternoon on the upper balcony, what a view! Social distancing was in place and respected. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Over the Thanksgiving weekend, this was our favorite winery of the day. It screams "Portland", with wine, beer and coffee! A friend of mine, who works in the industry, recommended this as her and her husbands favorite and took us here. As members, they got us in as guests. Being our 3rd winery of the day, the guys were wined out and opted for a glass of beer. I was driving so I just had one tasting and then hit the complimentary buffet table of meets and cheeses, then tried one of their signature espressos. Inside, the place was decorated beautifully for Christmas. It was so lovely to sit back on their overstuffed sofa's and just relax for a while. Of all the wineries we'd been to that day, this one had the best view...and a lovely deck to take it in from. Unfortunately, we arrived as it was beginning to get dark and cloudy, so our photo ops had to be taken indoors. If you are in wine country and with any non-wine connoisseurs, bring them here for coffee and beer - while you sip your wine. read more

Had a great time at Brooks and enjoyed their Reisling tastings. My favorite was the 2016 Cahiers. Incredibly crisp, balanced and not overly sweet, which is atypical of dessert wine variety. You can drink this with anything savory or spicy. Would be good paring with rich chocolate cake too. Our sommelier was the master of Willamette Valley region and Brooks history. Our party of four arrived a few minutes early and at first we chose to be seated outside on the upper deck. The breeze was too strong and the umbrella shade was a bit unstable. We moved to a table inside the tasting room. And then, the wait staff seemed to forget we were there. After about 15 minutes, I asked a server if we could have some service. He responded very quickly, took our orders for wine, beer and a charcuterie plate which the four of us intended to share. The plate arrived with a serving knife but not individual plates or forks. One of the meat choices required cutting with a sharp knife in order to eat. We mentioned that to a server, who brought a steak knife but no forks. We had a pleasant time but four people eating cheeses, meats, bread, jam, etc with one serving knife and one steak knife is tricky. We all decided to not bother with asking for anything else. The setting and views are wonderful, the wine is excellent, the serving staff seemed to be either uncoordinated or under-supervised. read more

Had an amazing time at Brooks! They limit the amount of people allowed for dine in. Make sure you call ahead time secure a reservation, to my knowledge that's the only way they'll take you. A really lovely tasting room off the beaten path in Amity. The drive out there is gorgeous in the spring when the trees are in bloom. The guy who helped my husband and I was really friendly and we had a nice visit, we were the only people in there. There is a really sweet winery cat that has taken up residence here. The wines were good, but I considered the pricing a touch high, especially for the area. It did not stop us from picking up a couple bottles. We will be back when in the area again. read more

I would highly recommend coming here! It will not disappoint. Janie worked with us to be able to see this amazing vineyard and we were so grateful. The food was to die for and the service was top notch. I had the fry bread taco and my husband had the sea scallops. Both exceeded our expectations. Good wines, friendly staff, beautiful tasting room, and an even nicer large "view deck" outside. Brooks has it all. Only two caveats: 1) at busy times they may be the victims of their own success, hard to get a table and long waits between tasting pours; and 2) tasting fees for a flight of six have risen to $20, which for a couple seems pretty steep. A nice alternative is to just buy a couple of glasses of your favorite varietal and enjoy the lovely view. read more

The view is amazing. However, fairly pricey wine and tastes. The view would be better if the bar were not facing away. Few seats that face the view, id love to see this increased. The service and staff are excellent. Live music on weekends. Chalk board unisex bathrooms. Add your art. They unfortunately allow children. Nothing for kids there, so leave them at home. Not only would they be board, completely ruins the vibe of delicious wine. Bring your pocketbook for this venture. read more

History

Established in 1998.

Founded in 1998, Brooks is a reflection of the visionary Portland native, Jimi Brooks. His reverence for the land and vine made him a leader in the biodynamic farming movement and the crafting of beautiful riesling and pinot noir. While Jimi is no longer with us, his dynamic spirit lives on through his wines, family and friends. With the outpouring of generosity and friendship of the Oregon wine community, Brooks Winery continues stronger than ever. Jimi's son, Pascal who was his ultimate source of passion for life, is the sole owner of the winery and his sister, Janie Brooks Heuck has remarkably volunteered to lead it. Staying true to Jimi's approach and philosophies, the wines are made by Jimi's Assistant Winemaker, Chris Williams who has been at the helm since 2004. Our winery is located in a old Brooks prune facility built in the 1950's. It is charming and rustic and is a great place to enjoy!

She highly recommended it, so we walked over after our lunch! This was one of the best tasting we've had in awhile. The wines, atmosphere, and wine maker (forgot his name, doh!) were all great! All the wines we tasted were solid- from Rose to Reds to Malbac. And the stories behind the names of the wines were fun to listen to also. The PDX was my fav, along with the Rose. As the wine maker says " our Rose was intentional" and you can tell they put a lot of love into their wines. A must recommendation to all my friends! The little drive out to Amity is definatley worth it!

Located in the Eola-Amity hills, Paige wines provided us with views of Mount Hood and Mount Jefferson while being surrounded by rolling hills and vines. Not only is the wine knowledge between Will and Dave astounding, they were fun to be around. The wines were delicious and you can really taste the difference in the grapes grown in the EA hills. Get yourself there now because they're only going to get bigger and better. Thanks for a great visit!

There is no deal I need or anything I need bad enough. That said this seemed like a great alternative. Their tasting is $8 this includes 5 wines to taste and they also brought us a little plate of olives, crackers and almonds. We purchased one wine which waive one of our tasting fees. I have to say I really loved all their wines. When you walk in their tasting area may seem a little primitive and not as fancy as some you see in places in the McMinnville AVA, however, the service was great and friendly. The server indicated that had just recently been bought out by Union wines which produces Underwood wine and is based out of Tualatin. This must have been a real recent purchase as neither of their websites reflect that. All in all a good solid group of reds and whites. Stop by and give them a try. I know I'll be back again.

I had so much fun and had such a great time at this winery! Out of all the wineries we went to in the Salem area, this was definitely my favorite. And the staff was super informative. They were so friendly and nice, very helpful. Not only that but one of there wine specialists was super hot too! Nice eye candy :)

When we arrived at Dukes yesterday, the server asked if we had reservations. We did not. "Well,"…read moreshe huffed, "we're pretty full right now." I counted five (5) empty tables. We thought Dukes was pet-friendly, and we saw two (2) large dogs lying on the concrete beside a table. One of them got up and lumbered toward ours (a 17-pound rescue). Intimidated, our little dog barked exactly once, prompting an employee to storm outside. Scowling, he said pets were absolutely not allowed. "We had a dog bite last year," he said grimly, oblivious to the other canines already present. Proverbial tales between our legs, we left, feeling pretty crappy--especially since we drove almost forty minutes out of our way to visit this winery. PS: Here is the initial response by Dukes Family Vineyards which they posted and quickly removed: "Your dog barked and snipped in a very aggressive manner twice upon arrival. You were asked to leave by the owner after he heard your dog being aggressive. Sorry about the disappointment, however; we had several patrons that witness your arrival and they thanked us for not letting you stay." PPS: To Dukes Family Vineyards: Your response, and your suggestion my chihuahua was "very aggressive" is completely absurd. My wife was carrying him. The instant she set him down, a much-larger dog came straight over and got in his face. Ours barked once. (He was frightened.) Please answer this question: Why are other dogs allowed to be there if your establishment isn't pet-friendly? Also: we were not "asked to leave." Your server told us you were "full," despite the number of empty tables. Your claim that several patrons witnessed our arrival and then thanked you for not letting us stay makes you (and them) sound like creeps. Further, your withdrawn statement illustrates for potential customers the way you will judge and treat them.

The location is a warehouse in the middle of a residential area, but don't let that sway you from visiting and sampling some vino. I made sure to snap a couple pictures of the exterior for ease of locating. They have a variety of wines for big red and white drinkers and a couple rose wines. In the tasting room you will find plenty of cute white corks with purple cow print on them and a nice selection of award winning wines. They also hold social events including paint nights. There were plenty of paintings displayed all over the walls and is a blast if you never painted whilst drinking wine! For the lighter spectrum they start with Muscat, then Riesling, a Pinot Noir Blanc and a Pinot Noir Rose. For more full bodied reds, they have a nice selection as well. Enjoy and bottoms up!
