Being in the wine industry ourselves, you never know who is going to walk through your doors. Kindness and grace speak volumes. I was really excited about visiting Brooks when on vacation in the area. The views look great, it looks so much less corporate than other wineries in the area, and there's a more fulsome food menu, not just snacks. It rests atop a hill looking out and you're looking out from an elevated, fully covered patio. It was just too chilly for us so we grabbed a table when they opened next to the window and enjoyed the views while eating and drinking. The food menu is good - more fulsome than most options in the area. I loved the butternut squash ravioli even if it was a bit buttery as it came with a ton of other unique additions to the dish. I had the white wine flight and it was delicious. None of the wines were overly sweet or overly buttery. I liked that they were balanced, had good flavors. Would definitely return! read more

Such a gem had to get a membership. This is a certified B corporation since 2019. Very impressed with their commitment to sustainability. They truly balance profit and purpose. It is a female-led family owned winery. What a pleasant experience. Literally loved the wine both the reds and whites. We also enjoyed lunch. The dessert today was Panna cotta and it just melted in your mouth. So happy to be a member I got caramels that are way better than what I can make myself at home. One is a star shaped, which is incredible and oh so cute. Yes I ate it before I could take a picture. Wish I could take pictures of the food, but I ate my plate as soon as I got on the table- as well as all the other delicious things we ordered. Cremini mushrooms, grilled cheese and tomato, and a perfect dish with wine with gnocchi and chicken and vegetables. I have been wanting to try this winery for years and finally made it on a rainy weekend. This tasting room is nestled on some gorgeous land in Amity. Our reservations were for 12:30 on a Saturday and the place was already about 75% full. It turns out the 2025 Rose was being celebrated ahead of its release date. We started off with a taste of that, then to the 2024 Rose before ordering some fantastic Fish Tacos, special for the month. We continued to dive into the rest of the Whites Flight, and they kept getting better and better. I'm not a sweet white fan and fortunately, these were not. Before we were halfway through the tasting, my friend, decided she wouldn't leave until she joined the club. There are 3 club levels and are very accommodating if you chose to switch out to a red or a favorite white. Another benefit, the winery's goal is sharing the love with wineries all across the country and as a member, you will get the same discounts. They are already partnered up with L'ecole, one of the great Walla Walla Wineries. Can you say, road trip? The pinot noir wines here are very tasty -- we were able to sample quite a few of their different wines offered (they make a lot of wines here). Brooks Wines is an absolutely lovely spot surrounded by rolling vineyard hills -- the perfect backdrop for photos. The tasting room has a warm, relaxed atmosphere and, unlike many wineries, offers a full food menu. We'd already eaten elsewhere, so we ordered just the french fries, and honestly, they were the best I've ever had -- thick-cut, perfectly salted, and served with a delicious, unique dipping sauce. We also had the pleasure of meeting the chef, who's from Alabama; he came out to greet us when he spotted an Auburn sweatshirt and gave a cheerful "War Eagle!" -- such a fun personal touch. The wines were excellent, and we left with several bottles, our favorite being the 2021 Girl Next Door Pinot Noir, made by a talented female winemaker. I highly recommend adding Brooks Wines to your Willamette Valley itinerary -- come for the views, stay for the wine, and don't miss the fries! read more

We took out of town guests here for our first visit. I had made a reservation for the patio and I was so happy I did! The view was beautiful! Our server was wonderful and explained each wine of our flight with great detail. He shared with us the history of the winery, which was an interesting story. The foods I tasted were the Brussel sprouts, the steak sandwich and the charcuterie board. All delicious! The views at this winery are wonderful. We made a reservation out on the outdoor covered patio which I highly recommend. In addition to the wine they also provide food. I got a pass of Pinot and also the BLT sandwich. The sandwich was banging. Bacon had really good flavor/crispness and the tomato jam was the perfect contrast to the bacon. I normally love Pinot noir but I think I just didn't prefer the style at brooks. Theirs tastes more earthy and drier than I like. I prefer a cleaner, fruitier taste. But that's just personal preference. Service was wonderful and very quick. They let me try a couple styles of wine before I committed to a glass which was appreciated. read more

I think this is my new favorite winery in the Eola Amity Area. The wine is great and the food rivals any Michelin Rated Restaurant.  The menu changes every month and uses local seasonal ingredients. We had the brussel sprouts, which had beet chips. Typically, I hate anything beet related but there was nothing in this dish that was not incredible, beets included. I also had squash with a horseradish aioli. I could have just had the aioli and been happy.  My husband had a radicchio salad with shrimp with a creamy dressing. Everything was excellent!!  I have not pulled the plug yet, but I am still deciding on joining their wine club, as I liked their wines that much.  The ambience is cozy, and they have a great patio. Of course, when we were here it was not even 40 degrees so not a good patio day, but I look forward to returning when the weather warms to sit outside. read more

In short: Salem's living room, as far as wine places go. Great pinots and rieslings, among other styles. Wonderful setting, good food, great service. In long: If you're like me and start relaxing as soon as you're on winding roads across rolling hills, your BP will drop 10% by the time you even pull in here. You're up a few hundred feet on one of those rolling hills, and on a clear day, I imagine you can see Mt Hood from here. You can see miles and miles across hills and valleys. Or you can turn to one side and a few feet away you'll see grapes that have been producing wine harvests since 1973, and still to this day produce pinot they're bottling here. Spreading out from the winery, there are dozens of acres of vines, most of which they harvest and bottle. Much of this is land they farm themselves; some grapes they buy from neighboring farmers. The pinots here are lovely--this IS the heart of Oregon pinot country--but they very much emphasize the rieslings and white blends, too. I won't break down every wine we tried, but we have precious little wine storage space and, despite that, we left with a case. The building seems somewhat ordinary from the outside, just a big box with a pitched roof. They do a lot of production and aging here, maybe all of it for all I know. But much of space comprises a big tasting room. All the good view sides of the building are public--you can sit inside or out, and outside has upstairs and downstairs options. Most importantly, you HAVE TO reserve a table. Finding a table as a walk-in, especially on a weekend, would be a lucky break, and most of the time I'm sure it would not happen. We wanted to move outside and it was booked solid. Inside was still great, though. There's a mix of high-boy tables, dining tables, and couch/coffee-table seating. Very homey. We got sat right away and immediately got a splash of rosé in our glasses. They bring out your wine flight one pour at a time. Zach was our guy, and he explained where the grapes grew, what the winemakers aimed for with that vintage, and added tons of info about the winery history, branding, and so on. He was very natural about the whole thing, listened to us, laughed at our jokes, and generally made the whole tasting a fun and informative afternoon without making us feel like we needed to write stuff down. Pouring one at a time is slower than getting your whole flight at once, but you get the whole story of each wine while you're trying that glass, which helps you retain the info better. Food here is great--the pappardelle was cooked perfectly, the bruschetta was getting a bit soggy but the flavors were amazing and my sister ate every bite. Her BF loved the pork belly slider (great crusty bread). The charcuterie offerings were really solid, a decent step up from supermarket meats and cheeses. The watermelon poke was interesting and delicious; the tortilla chip flavors kind of overpowered the tuna--it'd be cool to try this with wonton chips instead. We spent a couple hours here and hardly realized the passing of the time. This is my first contact point with Oregon wineries and I can't wait to explore others (and come back here). read more

Chef Mathew's hazelnut-encrusted chicken and the flawless Rueben sandwich--served on beautifully marbled bread--were culinary highlights. As Rueben enthusiasts, we can confidently say it's among the best we've ever had. We also enjoyed chatting with Zachary and Heidi and are excited for Shannon's Medicinal Herb class on Saturday. We showed up a few minutes before our reservation time and shown to our table on the patio . We sat for over 15 minutes and was never acknowledged by wait staff . I went back to the hostess stand and informed the lady at the stand we still haven't been helped . She apologized and would get it taken care of and someone would be over . Within 10 mins our waitress came over "Anne" and another gentlemen named "Doug " . They apologized and explained there was confusion however, they got it figured out and would be comping some of our tasting . We thanked them . However, I can't say our visit got any better . Anne would disappear for long periods of time . They were out of a couple of items on the menu which was disappointing . We have been to Brooks before however, it was clear they were not on their "A" game . We have been when Brooks has been busier and the experience was much better . We had a wonderful lunch at Brooks Wines on Saturday the 27th of December. The tasting flights were, of course, outstanding as was the ambiance of the tasting room. We lucked out and it turned out to be a fantastic day weather-wise, so the view was breathtaking as well. The food was wonderful. We split three meals between the four of us and it was more than plenty! French Dip is just special...that's all I can say about that! Anyway, the best part was the absolutely top-notch service provided by Tim our server. He was very knowledgable about each of the wines we were tasting and incredibly friendly and personable. How does this place have 4 and a half stars, I have no idea. Customer service is extremely rude, I've never seen waitresses and waiters snicker as we walked away. They kicked us out because our friend was supposedly "drunk" when she was not. I'm not sure what was so funny, I feel like that's what you get when you have kids working the front line. The way the staff treated us was very condescending, I was happy just to leave that place. It's unfortunate for the business and the customers of Brooks Wine. I hope the customer service can step it up in the future. There are so many better places, don't come here. You were warned. Also, there was a strand of hair in our cake that we got. Nice setting: choice of inside in their tasting room or outside on the covered patio with heaters. Had to make reservations and they honor this for 1.5 hr. Good choices of wines, flights are $20 for 6 tastes. We opted for a glass of semi-dry Riesling ($11) and a glass of red letter Pinot Noir ($15) and a po'boy shrimp sandwich ($19) That sandwich was delicious albeit just 4 scampi shrimp on it. The red wine was okay and the white was a bit too sweet for my pallet. Service was friendly. We opted to buy a couple bottles of their off-label Petite Shiraz ($35/bottle) which was excellent. There are many reasons Brooks should be on your list of Willamette Valley wineries to visit. But one of the top reasons is that Brooks is known for its Riesling and Pinot Noir wines. Wine and Spirits Magazine agrees, listing Brooks in the top 100 wineries in the world. Brooks is just an easy, 20 minute drive south of the first two wineries recommended, taking you through the Oregon farmlands. Our server proudly proclaimed Brooks as the Disneyland of wineries in Oregon. I'm not sure I'd go that far, but hey, we do love a good Disney trip. And would agree, that this is a classic Oregon winery experience. If you came hungry, this is your place. The winery has an extensive menu with your typical wine snacking foods like cheese and charcuterie to larger plates with seared tuna and Vietnamese spring rolls and sandwiches. Interestingly, Brooks serves their wine in a unique order (with the reds first then the whites). Typically, you start from light whites and go to darker reds. However, Brooks does it the opposite in order to avoid the strong acidity from the white wines overpowering the reds. It makes sense. Though, our vinophile friends still are in shock, even bringing it up when we saw them later in our trip! Oh well, I'm all about trying new things and going against the grain. By tasting #5, it all tasted good! Before you leave, make sure you check out the grounds, including their chickens roaming around. Just try not to think too hard about that chicken curry you might have just devoured! Advance reservations are highly recommended and can be booked on Tock with a $40 deposit. read more

It took me some days to process and digest this traumatic experience, but honestly I still don't know where to begin. I wouldn't want to bring it to the racism level, but that's exactly how we felt the moment we stepped on their premises, or when we met our host Sara and the other staff. From the condescending tone and rude attitude, to the smirks on their faces before we left. We were being punished, insulted, and left traumatized. This is certainly not the standard of customer service we were expecting, we all flew in to Portland to celebrate our friend's 30th birthday. So not only did Sara ruin our winery experience, she destroyed our opportunity to celebrate our friend. Don't become victims like us, take your business elsewhere. Not just that instead of refund us they keep over charged and refund different amount multiple time until it corrected. Totally a joke and unprofessional. I hired Insider Wine Tours (a private driver) to take me around Willamette Valley for the day. He suggested Brooks for lunch, which was a great call. The vineyard overlooks incredible views and has a very talented winemaker in Chris Williams. The flight of 6 Pinot Noirs for $20 was very generous. A quick survey of other vineyards in the region showed a rate of at least $25 for 4 or 5 tastings. While I didn't love the wine enough to leave with a bottle, the food was absolutely delicious. We split the scallops, Brussels sprouts, local hazelnuts with chili and paprika and the charcuterie. The Brussels sprouts were the best I've ever had. The scallops were super fresh and paired very well with the parsnip puree, fennel and celery. I wanted to take the hazelnuts to go, but forgot to ask. read more

What a treat! We kicked off our 4 day wine tasting vacation in McMinnville with a "Wine Tasting 101" course - Sarah was amazing. She was knowledgable, patient and genuinely fun! This was our first ever wine tasting experience and her enthusiasm shone through. She really cares about her guests' time, took time to learn about our preferences to guide our experience and it made the session so much more rewarding. It felt like she was truly teaching and hosting us! And the wine was delightful! We ordered several bottles to be sent home and joined the wine club for recurring orders. We arrived and they informed us that they had an event, which we see they have lots of events, and as such they could seat us at the bar. We accepted. My wife went to the rest room and the lady that sat us hovered over me while I perused the menu. I stopped and she asked if I knew what we wanted. I suggested it better if I waited until my wife returned to look at the menu. We ordered and got done wine. We noticed that at the bar all you received were the cocktail napkins which upon receiving our food felt odd as you really couldn't put them on your lap. I asked if we could get the same larger regular napkins as the tables and she was flustered abs instead gave us each a sheet of folded paper towel. She disappeared and while seated others were zipping in and out by us, with a parking attendant for example coming in and drinking several glasses of water right across from us. If all felt like we were relegated to a seat at the bar so they could pack the place but the service was odd to non existent. We had high hopes but they honestly have a cool spot but a big disconnect on customer service. read more
