We had a group tasting on Sept. 2. I am a Club member and LOVE their wine. Kevin was our waiter and he provided great service! - attentive and easy to connect with. We had a beautiful view of the valley and Mt. Hood. I really like the new use of mini carafes and the tasting notes sheet with the menu options (a nice addition). I brought 3 family members who had never been to Brooks before. They know and appreciate good wine - and they raved about how much they liked all 6 samples. My wife brought my daughter and me here after a search online for "family friendly" wineries in the area. Brooks just about topped the list and was nearby so we headed on in. The first thing I noticed was how busy it was, but we were fortunate to grab a table right near the door. One look outside at the beautiful views and we were hooked. We were there on a cold and rainy day, but on a nice summer day I could see hanging out on the deck or downstairs by the gas fireplace sipping on some wine. We're told there are family-friendly activities in the summer time but for our visit our daughter had the opportunity to entertain herself (gotta love the electronic age) while enjoying a root beer. Both my wife and I did a taster flight each. Our wine server was very knowledgeable and had a great personality. We loved a couple of the wines and some others not so much (not because they were not well made, but just not our style). After the flight my wife ordered a glass of her favorite wine from the taster flight and I ordered one of the two beers on tap. We purchased two bottles and our flight fees were waived saving us $30 (to our surprise!). By the time we left the place was completely packed. I'm sure in the summer time its even worse even with the extra space outside. This is probably our new favorite winery in the area and we'll be back the next time we're in town even if we do not have our daughter with us. read more

I'm far from a wine connoisseur. I appreciate the art of producing and consuming "fine" wine, but I can't tell you for certain what flavor profile a particular wine has, the distinction of grapes, information about tannins, etc. I'll say, however, that I have one particular favorite winery... and that would be Brooks in the Willamette Valley. Admittedly, I've not spent enough time in Sonoma, Napa, or California's Central Coast (I know! I know! I live in San Francisco.) to say if there's a region that produces better white or red varietals, but Brooks in Oregon certainly churns out delicious wine. Period. They are most known for their riesling, and accordingly, other whites such as Muscat and Pinot Gris. Upon arriving, you were just awe-struck by Brooks' surroundings. It is tucked away amid dirt roads, green shrubbery, and (at least in the fall) gorgeous golden vineyards. When you enter, you'll find a bar area where vintners encourage you to lounge and choose a flight. My friends and I are partial to whites so we chose the white wine flight. A friendly young gentleman set down some wine glasses and while he retrieved the first bottle, my friends and I sat and took in the view. On the upper deck, there is a generous amount of seating: couches, high chairs, and tables. Below, there is a fire pit with individual seating. You'll also see in the distance a number of wooden picnic tables so you can absorb the region's picturesque view from a closer range. The gentleman who served us knew I loved their 2012 Terue Muscat (not too sweet like other similar muscat grape wines) so rather than giving us another riesling (which were great too!), he gave us a tasting of the 2014 Terue Muscat at the end. That was really thoughtful of him to accommodate. Funny enough, even though I came to Brooks with the intention of buying the 2012 Muscat, I wound up buying another white instead -- specifically the 2014 Amycas. I also loved their 2014 Gewürztraminer, but opted for the former. The gentleman provided a history of Brooks wines, and it was a lovely story about the founder and his family's passion for Willamette Valley wine and Alsace-style rieslings. Lastly, if you check-in via Yelp, you'll receive a 10% discount for bottles. Brooks is a gem. After visiting, I know I'll have to continue purchasing their wine from San Francisco and I intend to return upon my next Portland excursion. read more

I went to this winery with my sister, who is a member. She knows Davin who is also from Hawaii like we are. It must have been our lucky day because he gave us an amazing tour and explained the wine making process to us while giving us the history of the winery. I would also like to note that he made time for us even though he clearly had a huge workload that day. This is by far the best winery my family has been to! This was a wonderful experience all around: from the quick response via email for our request for a Garden Tour, to the information provided before our arrival, to the tour itself. We enjoyed the relaxed pace of the tour and appreciated starting with a sparkling wine as we walked through the facilities with our guide. She was so incredibly knowledgable, and answered our many many questions! We also loved the tasting set up in the back of the truck, which provided a lovely high seat to be able to take in the views! The wines were delicious (of course), and paired so well with the charcuterie. I highly recommend the garden tour, and think it is well worth the money and time. read more

Brooks has a brand-new tasting room that is incredibly gorgeous! I love being apart of their wine club. They host great pickup parties! The staff make you feel so comfortable and welcome. There is no snobbery here! I am usually a "red wine person", but Brooks has won me over with their delicious Rieslings. These are not the overly sweet Rieslings you may be thinking of. These are sweet to the nose, but very dry and tasty. You will be very surprised. A great new wine club member perk is 1/2 off a bottle of wine when you drink it at the winery. We spent the afternoon Saturday enjoying a couple bottles in our party and also enjoyed a delicious charcuterie and cheese plate on their beautiful deck. This is one of my favorite wineries, but unfortunately it is a lot of other people's Favorites as well. So, it is a place that you will have to share with others, and get accustomed to a long wait time, for the Wine Tasting Associate Staff to help you. That can be grating if you are in a rush to move on and go check on the next place, and the wait time seems long before pours on the tasting flight..... but if you are more self contained with the scenery and good wine, then that is a good thing to not be bombarded with staff! Last time I was there I think I read that you can open a bottle there to share with friends on the premises for 50% off the cost. So, if that's the case- not a bad deal to just sit back and chill and enjoy some wine! I also love that they do have some food options to buy, as options. And, I believe you can bring your own food for the patio, or even on the back Gazebo. And, they are pretty dog friendly as well, they allowed us to bring our dog Remy on to the back deck and hang out with us. I am honestly not much of a white wine drinker at all, but I really can't get enough of their Amycas-white Table Blend. It is really addicting and keeps drawing me towards it! And, I love the price point, last time we were there we bought a bottle for $18; which is beyond reasonable in my book. read more

Even though the tasting room is quite modern, this winery has a very organic feel to it. The individuals that work in the tasting room for very well educated regarding not only their own one but also wine from within the region. There's a wonderful story regarding the creation of the logo and the survival of this wonderful winery. The original owner died of a heart attack at the age of 38 and left the winery to his little boy who is now 19. The logo of the dragon biting his tail was a tattoo the owner had on his arm His sister, who took over the winery in trust for her nephew, wanted to keep the memory of her brother "tattooed" forever in the history of the vinyard and the wines produced there. read more

Unfortunately we decided to stop at Brooks at 4:30 on a Friday, which is when they do their Pizza Friday events. The place was SLAMMED. As a result, the servers were not terribly attentive to our party who was just getting in one last-minute tasting before heading back to our house. The pinot noirs were nothing to write home about (compared to other wineries in their area), but their white blend was great -- we got a couple bottles of that. All in all, there are better wineries in the area. I wouldn't recommend going on a Friday late afternoon/evening unless you get there early and want pizza. read more

Would've been five stars if they were more attentive (we were doing wine flights and had to ask for three of our different flights to be poured because our glasses were empty for a couple of minutes). Both the scenery and building are top notch, as is their food. Unfortunately, their wine left a little to be desired -- they did the wine flight backwards (white, red, red, red, white, red). Beautiful location, great story and good wine. We tried a few of the flights and went with a nice dry Riesling to finish things off. They are celebrating their 20th anniversary and highlighting some of the other wineries in the area. I would recommend any of their wine as well as the featured wines. Brooks Winery - You remind me of heaven. This winery has an amazing story about winemakers coming together when the original owner died unexpectedly about a decade ago. Our server was very sweet and attentive. She was very personable and treated us like family. She was very knowledgeable about their wines and history. A flight is $15 which is reasonable, since the pours are decent sized. You can choose between whites, reds, or a combo. of both selections. We had a "free" tasting for two with our Oregon Wine Passport that we purchased during the holidays. We chose the white flight and tasted 7 wines. We enjoyed many of them. I would have purchased some bottles, but my job has just ended, and I am looking now for new opportunities. I would highly recommend this winery to anyone though. Great wine and great views. The new tasting room just opened last fall, so it is really a fun place to check out. I loved the chalk board in the bathroom too. I also liked the complimentary hazelnuts in between tastings. Brooks Winery is an absolute gem! The menu is fantastic, wine selection is dangerously delicious, and the service is unparalleled. We were visiting a more prominent winery in the area and when we asked for a recommendation about where to go next, they suggested Brooks, and they certainly did not let us down. To be recognized by the public is one thing, but Brooks has a wonderful reputation with their colleagues / competition as well, which speaks volumes. During our visit, we had the pleasure of meeting Allison, Jackie, and Amber - all are gracious, knowledgeable, and unobtrusively attentive. Allison was our main server and we were blown away with her service. Allison did a fantastic job educating us about their story and commitment to organic and biodynamic farming, while still being authentic, funny, and engaging. She also gave us some great restaurant recommendations in Portland. Honestly, Allison's hospitality was so lovely that we would have come back even if we didn't like the wine. Brooks has a lot of things going for them - an approachable and unique wine list, great food pairings, cool ambiance, a beautiful view, etc - but what we can't stop raving about is the service.
