    The wall of fame.

Nestled in the hills outside Salem is a beautiful, new winery. Silverback Estate Winery is in an idyllic location overlooking the valley surrounded by the estate vineyard. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, with two fireplaces, one inside and one out. Above each is a TV for football or basketball games or whatever the occasion calls for. A central bar area is surrounded by tables. It's spacious, open, and airy, but still comfortable. The wine selections are impressive and varied, from a Sparkling Pinot Gris, which is quite nice, to a rich Cabernet. Only the Cab is not estate grown; it's outsourced from the Walla Walla valley. They have red, white, or mixed wine flights. Some of the other wines I tried were the Gamay Noir, the Pinot Noir Blanc, and the Pinot Noir. Silverback has an onsite kitchen with a limited, but delicious, menu and extended hours on some days. When I was there, I opted for the Charcuterie board, which was excellent. It was a nice mix of dried fruit, nuts, crackers, cheese, various meats and even some devilled eggs! The eggs were ridiculously delicious. My server, Kim, was knowledgeable and attentive. And I even had the good fortune on my visit to speak with winemaker, Bob, who does the "Uptown" vintages on Silverback's wine library. I will definitely be returning to Silverback soon to enjoy more great wine and different culinary options. One last thing worth mentioning is that the winery donates money from every bottle to worthy charitable organizations that benefit our animal friends (especially for Silverback Gorillas, which is where the winery gets its name).

Opps ate the charcuterie before the pic !

Great little stop! We sat by the fire during a stormy day. The whites were good. Service was friendly. Excited to go back.

First time here and it surely won't be our last! The hospitality at Silverback Estate Winery was superb, food was delicious and presented in an excellent manner, and the wine was delicious. Not to mention, the views are breathtaking!

Our first time to this lovely place. Gorgeous and very inviting. It was a Friday late afternoon. Many of the wineries in this area are closed on Fridays. So having this location open and open later than most- was so WONDERFUL! We sat at the bar. Great service, delicious wines and very good snack options. We cant wait to go back. Cheers

We dropped by here today and tasted some wine…read more Summer was on staff there and she was able to give us the story of the winery's origin. Which was very interesting but I'll let her tell you about it when you visit. On my way up there I discovered there was a Groupon for $20 you could get a tasting of eight wines for two people. So, I purchased that which was a great deal. It turns out it's a misprint there is actually only six wines but still a great deal. This was a weekday visit and they had some prepackaged food for purchase and also soft drinks. We purchased a couple meat and cheese trays and went outside to enjoy the wine. It was nice outside finally under 80 and air quality not terrible for a pleasant change. They have a great many tables and chairs and umbrellas outdoors making it a nice stop for spring and summer. The wine club sounded intriguing and I'll definitely ponder that as everything tasted great. I'll definitely be back to try it again.

It's really tucked away and a secret gem. The drive is so worth it. They are so busy all day Friday with constant visitors pouring in. The two ladies in the tasting room are the sweetest. They have great pours here and a great big bold 2018 Estate Pinot Noir! I love the founder's story and the Cuban passion all over. They let you wonder around the beautiful grounds and get close to the vines. There are also live bands and food pop up on the weekends. We will be back again! Next time I want to smoke a Cuban cigar while enjoying a few glasses of those awesome reds!
