Fortunately we went on a perfectly sunny day. The wines were amazing, and the sommelier pouring for us was very knowledgable and entertaining. I didn't even really know wines could be made certified organic, but I guess that makes sense, just extra work on the vineyard to maintain it. I particularly loved some of the wines on their other label, Haden Fig. It was a perfect afternoon, made even more memorable by the gorgeous pair of horses they had in their field, Gypsy horses I believe. Which was very interesting but I'll let her tell you about it when you visit. On my way up there I discovered there was a Groupon for $20 you could get a tasting of eight wines for two people. So, I purchased that which was a great deal. It turns out it's a misprint there is actually only six wines but still a great deal. This was a weekday visit and they had some prepackaged food for purchase and also soft drinks. We purchased a couple meat and cheese trays and went outside to enjoy the wine. It was nice outside finally under 80 and air quality not terrible for a pleasant change. They have a great many tables and chairs and umbrellas outdoors making it a nice stop for spring and summer. The wine club sounded intriguing and I'll definitely ponder that as everything tasted great. I'll definitely be back to try it again.

It's really tucked away and a secret gem. The drive is so worth it. They are so busy all day Friday with constant visitors pouring in. The two ladies in the tasting room are the sweetest. They have great pours here and a great big bold 2018 Estate Pinot Noir! I love the founder's story and the Cuban passion all over. They let you wonder around the beautiful grounds and get close to the vines. There are also live bands and food pop up on the weekends. We will be back again! Next time I want to smoke a Cuban cigar while enjoying a few glasses of those awesome reds!

The service was wonderful the staff member helping us was so kind and welcoming. We tried the 2019 brut sparkling wine, and it was the perfect balance of crisp and slightly sweet. I usually shy away from sparkling wines because they can feel too heavy, but this one was light, delicate, and incredibly easy to enjoy. We also ordered the blue cheese-stuffed dates with almonds, and they were absolutely delicious! Rich, flavorful, and a perfect pairing with the wine. I do think I would have preferred the goat cheese version, but they were unfortunately out at the time. In fact, it seemed like quite a few items on the small menu were unavailable, which was a bit of a downside. Overall, Chemeketa Cellars is a charming spot with great wine, friendly service, and a unique story behind it. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Salem for a girls day!

We were part of a small group tour a couple of days before and visited the large wineries... We were not at all impressed with the wines. THEN, we went with Will. He knew where we had been and took us to wineries that are the real thing. Small wineries with crafted wine. Not large wineries with nice buildings and some wine.... Will seemed to read our taste in wines and tailored the entire day to match our tastes. He was so knowledgeable and interested in sharing that knowledge, it made for a perfect experience.
