Redhawk is a great spot to enjoy classic style Oregon pinot noir and some of the newer varieties as well. I was a little skeptical of this winery due to it being near Salem, not the more recognized Oregon wine towns. The location is very convenient from downtown Salem and is beautiful on a nice day. The hostess, Tabitha, was friendly, engaging, and a pleasure to talk with about each wine available. The winery dog, a doodle mix, is friendly and welcoming. Wine by the glass is reasonably priced as are bottles. Will definitely try Redhawk again when in the area. Worth a try for any fan of Oregon wines. read more

She listened to our stories and accepted the fact I had a service dog and talked to me not only about my Dog but about my wine preferences and was super accommodating. Close your eyes and eat a perfectly ripened strawberry without a lingering sugar on your palate, or a 2021 Carmenere that leaves no tannin. Want a white? One of the best wineries in Oregon located on a secret hill. The views are breathtaking. They have cats and a dog that greet you at the door and are super friendly. Their wines hold up and are as good as bigger productions in the valley. They specialize in reds. They hold spectacular open houses around labor day, memorial day, Thanksgiving weekend, and I think even the 4th of July. One of the best bargains for your money. For Just $10 you can get 8-10 tasting pours of wine plus live music and a buffet of cheese, crackers, seasonal soup, meatballs/sausage, and tritip sandwiches. I rarely eat meat but this is one event where I will make an exception. The staff are very friendly and the place can get busy during these events but never over crowded. I really enjoy this winery and I really appreciate this amazing deal that they offer during special events. Magnificent pricings on wine too. Definitely check this place out. read more

Loved the hospitality, wines and beautiful vineyards. I plopped myself down at one of the tables inside the tasting room and worked for a few hours enjoying glasses of Chardonnay and Riesling, then later on did the wine tasting. The reds were various Pinot Noirs and the estate was my favorite. The gal behind the bar was so great! Super warm and friendly to both me and my two pups that were there, and made us feel welcome the entire time. This winery is one of the reasons I'll remember my trip to Salem so fondly. read more

My husband and I just finished our tasting and I must say that I loved EVERY wine on the list. This is rare for me, even the Pinot Gris was delicious. This place was a perfect destination for our family with 3 active boys. They have a tree house, gorgeous view and even a basketball hoop. The service is super friendly and easygoing. No pressure whatsoever. And the view was special for our first and only stop in Willamette. We are so happy and thankful for this opportunity. They didn't charge the tasting fee ($10) since we bought 3 bottles of wine. I would have bought all the wines if we didn't have to fly back home to the east coast. read more

Located right on the edge of West Salem yet tucked back off a long gravel road so by the time you park, you feel like you've been transported to a quaint, scenic country resort. This is a small winery with a fantastic view! The tasting flight was 9 wines for $10 (fee waived for each bottle purchased). From the Rose to the Cab--each wine was perfect and would rival anything you would find in Napa or otherwise. We were there on a week day afternoon. Taylor served us and was a delight. There were 6 of us, enjoying the beautiful day. We brought a picnic. We were there celebrating my daughter's 50th birthday. The sommelier was disinterested and oblivious. She ignored us for the most part, preferring to hang out with a biker guy sitting at the end of the counter. Our out of state guests, from wine country in California, were appalled by the poor service. We were embarrassed to have chosen this particular winery for our outing. These wines are excellent. No, I'm not a wine aficionado - just a wine accumulator who knows what he likes. Having spent 55 years mostly on the California Central Coast, I have drunk lots of Paso Robles, Santa Ynez Valley, Napa, Sonoma, Monterey and Santa Barbara County wines. What Redhawk pouts out are just as good as most of the wineries in all these appellations. The Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir Rose are really excellent. A couple of the Pinot Noirs are just average, but they have two that are amazing, especially considering the price point. Speaking of price point, virtually any winemaker will tell you that there is no difference in the quality of wine based on its price - they can make incredible wine for $20 per bottle. The different prices more significantly are a matter of supply and demand. That being said, $35 for an incredible Pinot Noir is a steal that is readily available at Redhawk. And, while you are enjoying the wine, you will be treated to some of the most personable and approachable staff in the area. read more

I recently brought a group of friends from out of town on a tour and Redhawk was unanimously the most loved of them all. John and Betty, the owners, are so incredibly gracious and make you feel so welcome. Their selection of wines is exceptional, they offer a little something for everyone from a perfectly lovely table Pinot to the Paticcoli Family Vineyard Pinot that continues to be one of my favorite Pinot Noirs of all time. What a great last minute adventure. We live in Seattle and are on a road trip to southern CA to visit family. We showed up 5 minutes before closing and enjoined some amazing wines.
