I drove 50 minutes round trip for a couple of pies from Brooklyn Pizza after reading these reviews. A basic cheese, along with a sausage and green bell pepper pizza. Popped the boxes open when I got home to find they tossed Italian sweet peppers on instead of regular bell peppers, which no one in my family likes. Although the crust was light and crispy, the sauce was lacking and rather bland. The sausage didn't have much flavor to boot. Order was picked up on a Saturday evening around 5:30pm. I'd be a little more forgiving on the pepper mixup if they were slammed, but both cooks were just standing around in the kitchen when I walked in for the only pickup order in the house. I'll stick with Leone's Pizza over this any day of the week. read more

Dang, Brooklyn, why??? I stopped in here for a slice to-go, but this isn't the old crave-worthy pizza I remember. The pizza I ended up getting was bland, heated WAY too long in the oven, because it was crunchy-- Definitely not a characteristic of good NY pie, and the ingredients just really fell flat. Owner of this place is straight up from Brooklyn, NY. I've never been to NY so this is as good as it gets here in Potato Town lol. If you get any slices as your first, Get the pepperoni and Bianca. Bianca- olive oil as the base topped with mozzarella cheese and dollops of ricotta cheese. Unless you're lack toes and tall or ant like me, then dont get it. Being born and raised in Brooklyn, pizza is important to me. My fear was that Friday night being pizza night was over once we moved to Columbus. Then somebody told me about Brooklyn Pizza. I gave it a test run and was impressed. The crust was NY like and crispy. The sauce could be a little better but I could say that about a lot of places in New York as well. One of the best new York style pizza I've had! They do a good job of getting thecrust nice and crispy. They keep the greese down very well so the crust stays nice and crunchy. If you plan on having more than two people I wouldn't eat there because there isn't much seating. If you do end up eating it there (would recommend because your pizza stays nice and fresh) they have garlic powder and oregano out to enhance your New York experience. Overall a great spot and a great pie. Definitely coming back. A lot! read more

I was interested in finding another good pizza joint. I went on YELP and researched the latest and greatest. Came across Brooklyn Pizza in Powell. Wish we had something like this in Gahanna. The pizza was very good. It's in direct competition with places like Flying Pizza and Borgata. It's a NY Style, foldable, greasy, thin crust pie cut. I like the sauce, not too sweet. Family thought it was just a tad bland. I personally liked it but I kind of agree that if they dusted the pizza with maybe herbs/spices/maybe garlic salt or something it would make the pizza pop. My only side comment was we got 'slices' vs. full pie. We were doing errands so we weren't ready for dinner. I felt like the guy behind the counter was a little irritated with the small order. He gave no small talk, no thank you, nothing. When he brought it out to us, he still was mute and did nothing extra like provide a napkin or a "enjoy". IF... these guys want to make it they will need to play the game. With every meal big or small they need to appreciate that sale. It makes loyal customers. read more

I FOUND PIZZA IN COLUMBUS!!! Real pizza, not an odd imitation. I'm not a pizza snob, but I grew up near Philly and lived in Chicago for 10 years (I also lived in Japan, where they put corn kernels and mayo on pizza). This is Philly/New York pizza. I've tried other places, and one or two local spots are okay, but THIS is real, East Coast style pizza. As someone else mentioned, as soon as you walk in the door, you know the smell is right. The sauce is nearly perfect. And the dough--which I've found no other pizza shop in Columbus gets right--is perfection. Just crunchy enough, with a slightly chewy middle, and crusts that are worth eating (I love good pizza crust, and this is beyond good). And they cut it like a pie, not like a brownie (that would be for Sicilian style only, for you other Columbus pizza shops). Even for the East Coast, this place would be really, really good, but in Columbus, it's a treasure. My wife and I took one bite, looked up at each other, smiled, and said, "This is it! This is pizza!" We just had the cheese pizza, but we will definitely be back for pizza with other toppings and other food. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. In the battle for New York-style pizza here in Columbus, I have to say that the toss-up is between Brooklyn Pizza and Cafe Napolitana. I didn't find the service to be all that bad. I'm used to either really gruff pizza staff or really quiet pizza staff. Brooklyn has the latter. The pizza is good--my friend Janine and I got a 16" cheese pie, yum!--and the service is quick. This is the kind of place I'm used to back home, where you order a pizza for pick-up. The tables are few but the flavor is plenty! For me, the downside of coming to Brooklyn Pizza is definitely the drive. Powell is quite the distance for a downtown resident like myself! I would definitely give this place a try though. Nice, thin but chewy crust, a good cheese layer, and those perfectly floppy pie slices for folding in half. read more

As soon as I opened the door to pick up my carry-out order, I knew I was in for a treat. The place smelled just like NY! After reading reviews here, I ordered a large (16") pie 1/2 cheese, 1/2 meatball. The crust was slightly crispy on the bottom and chewy on top, with the perfect amount of sauce and cheese. I honestly had to make myself quit after THREE slices. I was stuffed, but it had been so long since I had eaten a pie so similar to NY style, that I couldn't quit eating it! In my opinion, this place could be put in Brooklyn and stay in business. Make the trip to Powell, you won't be disappointed! I will be back.....maybe tonight! read more

Over in Powell this afternoon so wanted to try a new lunch place... dialed up Brooklyn Pizza to try their New York Style thin crust Pizza... picked up order & of course dived into Pizza on the drive home:))) The Pizza looked good, I liked the thinness of the crust, but I thought the crust was a bit chewy and tough....still good to fold...The ingredients on the pizza were good, really liked how the onions were cut/placed on pizza, pepperoni also very good...not the small crispy pepperoni you see at a lot of pizza joints - but larger pieces that were very good... the cheese ratio was a bit odd, seemed to be more cheese on the onion side vs the pepperoni side...sauce was I thought average at best, actually I thought it was the weakest part of the pie... not very sweet or flavorful... The whole experience was probably 3 1/2 stars,not an option on Yelp, so rounded down since I thought the sauce and crust brought down the overall quality of the pie down a bit... still a solid pizza joint in the Powell area... read more

I love the NY style pizza, and they use pretty awesome pepperoni. The crust was my favorite part, as spot on as you can get without NYC water. There seemed to be too much salt (maybe garlic salt?) on my pizza which overpowered the cheese and the delicious crust, but I still finished it and would give them another try if I am in the area to get a taste of the Margherita pizza. I used to go to this place all of the time. Every time I ordered it seemed they were out of something on the menu. I always stuck with the pizza and the garlic knots because that is they are known for. The owner seemed nice sometimes I went in and sometimes he was not as outgoing. No problem. I called to order pizza for my daughters birthday party. Knowing they get busy and stop taking orders on Saturday nights, I called an hour before to see if they would be able to handle a large order. My daughters friends all requested Caesar salads and as I ordered I could hear the owners distinct voice yelling at the cashier. "I only have eight sets ups!" I needed twelve but I said I will take eight. The owner yelled again, "I don't have eight!" I was like no problem, I will order the Caesar from somewhere else but that I still wanted the four pizzas and the garlic knots. I said I want 20 total and the cashier thought I meant 20 orders of 5. The owner yelled, "I cannot do that!" I again told her I meant 20 total and she corrected and I hung up. Five minutes later after I ordered the Caesar from another restaurant, they called and said, "we can do the 12 you needed." I politely said no thank you. I picked up my order and said nothing and paid with a CC. I didn't tip, which I normally do even when picking up, but tipping is for service and I felt his attitude, yelling and the fact that his doesn't know inventory somehow became my problem. So I started to walk out and the kid behind the counter said, "Va fangoul!" I said, "excuse me." I knew exactly what that meant. He so, "oh, I said have night evening sir!" I was actually relieved that the person yelling all along was one of Anthony's employees that was acting up with out Anthony there. So I asked if Anthony was there and guess what? He was right behind the wall and heard the entire thing and appeared to be part of it. I had given this restaurant a 5 star on Yelp years back when I was helping him grow his business. I've been on the hunt for a good Friday night pizza since moving here from the east coast. I had honestly given up hope until I stumbled upon this place. Turns out this is where many east coast transplants take refuge from the dreaded, square, cardboard pizza slices native Ohioans tend to worship. Okay, all snark aside, this is damn good pizza. Large enough to fold, floppy, triangular, melty and delicious. To me, it tastes like home. They have a great $6 lunch special that has become the highlight of my week. The worst part about this pizza is i have really been looking forward to it. i grew up in NY and have grown tired of putting up with bad Ohio pizza. The crust is close to NY pizza but not quite. almost burned on the bottom didn't help. not enough sauce. pepperoni was tasteless and the bell peppers were inedible. they were really sour tasting; not spoiled but like they were frozen or from a jar. if you're looking for NY pizza in Cbus you're still better off making the trek to campus and getting Adriaticos, Catfish Biffs or Flying Pizza. Just moved to town and wanted to get a quick bite to eat. Saw the reviews and decided to go here, so glad we did. The worker was so nice and got our order perfect. I'm very picky when it comes to pizza, and it was amazing. Not too much sauce, toppings were plenty, and it was very hot temperature wise upon pick up. This was my first time at Brooklyn Pizza, and it is my new go to pizza place in Columbus! I live in Gahanna, and I will absolutely be making the drive to Powell to get some quality pizza!!! I had 2 "ready to go" slices at lunchtime, and they were absolutely excellent! This is a true New York slice place! One thing that I appreciated about Brooklyn Pizza is that there was a good amount of cheese on the pizza (other places I sometimes find myself questioning whether there is cheese on the pizza). The dough was a true New York style, not too thick, and not too thin! The man working was busy, but very polite! The place is very nicely decorated with New York themed pictures. Mama Mia we Absolutely love their pizza! My husband and I always order from this place. It is close to where we live and we know that we will never be disappointed. The slices are big with lots of toppings and just the right amount of sauce and spices. The crust is the best because, its on the thinner side but just the right thickness that I like for my pizzas. Anyway, if you like big, floppy, foldable, cheesy Brooklyn-style pizza, this is your spot. It's a tiny little hole in the wall in a strip mall with about four small tables, so count on takeout. They offer pizzas in two sizes - really big and hella big (14 and 16 inches, respectively). They also sell pizza by the slice, calzones and your usual pizza-place items.
