My friend booked this for a weekend, and our check-in was extremely smooth. Given the weather was really nice, we were offered a seat in their outdoor heated patio. The decor is incredible inside the space, and the staff are equally kind and attentive. We got the grand Vanderbilt tea option, and tried the English breakfast tea, Darjeeling, and Earl Grey. The sandwiches were all rather delicious, though I found the scones a bit dry. The desserts were small, but also delicious. I wouldn't come here if you're extremely picky about afternoon tea food as the food was pretty standard. Overall, I think this high tea is quite good for the value, and the staff were always stopping by to check if we needed a tea refills. I would definitely come back, especially given the nice ambience and overall experience.
Did you know that tea lights for their name from the lights that were lit beneath tea pots to keep tea warm? I learned that here at Brooklyn High Low! I had a morning to kill before a work event and wanted afternoon tea! This reservation was not easy to get and I was lucky to snag a less desirable 10am ish reservation. It was cold outside (all the inside seats were full) but they provided warm, fuzzy heated blankets so it wasn't much of an issue. I wish I'd been able to pick which tea I got but the house black tea they served and picked for me was good. The sandwiches were delicious but I found the desserts to be lacking. Service was wonderful. There's only one bathroom and it was very clean and aesthetic, like most of the decor. It screams maximalist and vintage, very fun. Everything was good but I'm not sure if it's worth the steep price. There's other more reasonably-priced afternoon tea service options in the city.
Food: 2/5 | Service: 1/5 | Experience: 1.5/5 For an experience that we needed to book a month in advance, I was vastly disappointed by this restaurant. I booked the $65 experience for two for an outdoor covered heated area (stated in the reservation) that I needed to provide my credit card for. For context, day of is quite cold and snowing. We arrive, get seated in the outdoor area with a stray bird also enclosed with us, get provided with heated blankets, and we get largely ignored. It's genuinely freezing out in the garden. We got the cardamom vanilla tea which was a favorite, and the orange blossom tea which was oversteeped and bitter. Pastries itself were okay. We get handed the check unprompted, and when we call a waiter over to get boxes for our leftover food because we are freezing at this point, we get forgotten. We end up leaving the rest of our food and go inside the restaurant to pay, where we are reminded that we can leave a tip. Overall, mediocre tea experience with ok food, terrible service. I do NOT recommend.
Gluten free tea service was very nice. We opted for Grand Heights, which included tea, crumpets, soup, finger sandwiches, scones, and a few sweets. It was definitely a savory forward experience with a sweet finish and we found it delightful- everything was good. Tea was try as much as you'd like for this experience. We loved everything we tried but the panna cotta was our stand-out. Service was friendly. Ambiance was really nice. The pictures I saw online didn't do justice to how cozy and comfortable the space feels. Overall great experience and will visit again.

There was a stretch of time when I was super into tea, so I was excited to hear about Brooklyn High Low. My friend was hosting a small afternoon tea for her birthday. My interest was raised even further when she let us know that Brooklyn High Low asked us to pick out our pot of tea in advance. The back patio area is so cute and charming. The weather was just gorgeous and perfect. We were seated in the back corner, which was cozy albeit a little bit difficult for everyone to maneuver around each other as we were a bigger group. We were served our teapots (individual teapots, each different and with character) and tea cups with warm scones, cream, jam and lemon curd. I got the Scottish Toffee Pu-Erh which was so luxurious and gourmand. Then, we were served the whole tower of tea sandwiches. My favorite tea sandwich was the egg salad one, though all of them were tasty. I was glad I skipped lunch, as this was quite a bit of food and we had sandwiches left over. The service was very attentive, and I appreciated all of the cute decor and touches. They let us stay even longer than the time limit for the tea service. I would love to go back for high tea service in this beautiful gem!
Are you kidding me?? This is the cutest afternoon tea spot I've seen in New York. It feels like dining in your posh British aunt's parlour, we felt right at home upon arrival. The sandwiches were all delicious, especially the apricot jam and cucumber dill. The scones were a bit dry, but the real clotted cream made up for it. And I could have eaten ten of those chocolate mousses! The house black tea was delicious but I would highly recommend the Cardamom Vanilla Black Tea for just $8 more (and it's bottomless). The servers were quick with service and attentive with refilling the tea pots. We sat across from Anna Kendrick so you know it's celebrity-approved!
I had a very special birthday meal at this restaurant. Everyone was very friendly and able to explain everything on the menu. I especially enjoyed being able to add a tiara onto my meal. The tiara itself is a very high-quality, which I appreciate. I chose the largest tea which came with soup and a crumpet in the beginning. The soup was a very refreshing carrot ginger soup. I also enjoyed the sandwiches, desserts, and scones. They also brought over a special plate that said happy birthday on it. That made my day extra special. Another important thing to note is that you can bring your own bubbly beverage. They gladly uncork your beverage and provide glasses. My one piece of advice is that if you are fixated on having a particular kind of tea, it may be worth it to call ahead and see if they are in stock that day. I would highly suggest this teahouse to anyone, and for those in Manhattan, I would say it is worth the travel.

A very cute experience, friendly staff, and tasty tea sandwiches and dessert! We made a reservation and the outside garden was only available but they have heating lamps and give you blankets which was helpful because we went on a very cold day. It is covered so that helped with blocking wind. We chose the Vanderbilt package and it was the perfect amount for the two of us! We really liked their chocolate mousse and the tea sandwiches! Definitely worth the experience and a perfect date idea!!
Honestly just such a lovely experience from start to finish and incredible value for money. We got the grand heights high tea service and got to try 5 different pots of teas, 8 different finger sandwiches, biscuits, soup, crumpets, 3 desserts, and a souvenir--for just $75 per person. To put that into context--most tea rooms in Manhattan will charge $120 per person or more for the same experience! Ontop of that the service is phenomenal and everyone is so kind and fast! And the entire place is just adorable. We sat in the tea garden which was absolutely lovely and cozy with heaters to keep us warm in the winter--we were so comfy I forgot we were outside! I am so sad I have lived this close and not been here before now? Needless to say I will not be missing out anymore and will definitely be coming back soon!
This place is adorable, the decor is busy in the best way. The finger sandwiches are tasty and their desserts are pretty traditional but there is care to add their own spin to things. The service was very attentive and we were reached out to the prior day for our tea selections which was really lovely.
An amazing spot for a fancy, celebratory tea! Our server was incredibly attentive. And the teas were all amazing, I can't believe we snagged a resy in the heated outdoor space. This is truly one of the most unique experiences you can have in the city--a full sit-down afternoon tea in an oasis away from the hustle and bustle. I cannot recommend enough sitting outside on the back patio, which is dotted with whimsical décor and sweet wicker chairs, in and of itself an experience. We got the classic service and were impressed by the value, bottomless black tea (which can be made decaf, music to my ears!), scones with clotted cream and jam, a variety of tea sandwiches, pastries. It's not the place you go when you're starving and need a meal, I wouldn't say the point of it is the food itself, but there is something so delightful about sipping tea from a fancy cup and nibbling little bites in an Alice in Wonderland portal from reality for 2 hours. A truly wonderful experience. This has been on our list for awhile and we decided to finally try it. Reservations are a must and book a few weeks before your desired date. When I made the reservation the confirmation stated outdoor, which was not evident when I booked. I reached out and unfortunately on the day we wanted it was the only option left. They were very communicative and explained there would be heaters and blankets provided on a cold, January day. I did ask if an indoor table became available, to please let me know. The day before our reservation , we were notified an indoor table was available and we were delighted. Their follow up was appreciated. The day before you also can order other teas than the black tea included. The indoor place is small with 5 seating areas. You feel as if you are entering a whimsical, quaint tea room. There are tea cup and pots everywhere from the ceilings to every nook and cranny. We had the classic and was surprised at how much food there was and how good it was. Eight sandwiches per person, a variety of sweet and savory. Each of us were provide a scone with jam and butter and lastly dessert. small mousse cups. pastries and cookies. The servers were so polite and kind, but stayed in the background.so you can enjoy the experience. Definately a wonderful experience. read more
food was honestly not that good, but the tea was fine. they use shredded cheese for one of the sandwiches, but a slice would be better and make it not look cheap. also we were missing two finger sandwiches. there were only 14 total (7 per person) it is supposed to be 16 total (8 per person). yet i did not want to haggle about that. servers somewhat checked in on us, but it felt a bit slow. however the patio is cute. though the one thing that really soured this experience is: at the end when we left and were already outside the establishment, the server walked out to us. we were then confronted about leaving the tip area blank and said we were supposed to write something down on the tip line ? the food and service just didnt live up to my expectations, so i felt like a tip wasnt deserving. at the end, i just gave some cash since the server made it awkward and made me feel pressured. though i still left the tip area blank on the receipt, so i do not understand what that was all about. plus from my knowledge working at a restaurant, you never have to indicate anything on the tip line. whether you leave it blank or make a slash through it, if theres not an amount on the line, take it as a ZERO. read more

I juatbhad the absolute loveliest of time here! I've always wanted to try out a tea room and it was an amazing experience. My friend and I got the classic package and it was the perfect amount of food. It came with both sweet and savory treats with unlimited black tea! We sat in the garden area and it was so beautiful and peaceful. We were one of the first ones there so it was nice and quiet and we were both able to relax and chat away in the back. The hostess and our servers were incredibly friendly and attentive. They checked on us multiple times to make sure we were okay. They let you know exactly what you're snacking on! 10/10 you definitely need to check out this place! It's such a lovely getaway from the busy city. read more

A delightful and whimsical afternoon tea experience! I was visiting New York and had a Brooklyn day with my friend. I made a reservation two months in advance because I love afternoon tea and this was highly rated. We had the Vanderbilt experience which was THE PERFECT amount of food - 7 different tea sandwiches, 3 different sweets, 2 massive scones (1 for each guest) that had the perfect amount of crumble, and 2 pots of tea (also 1 per guest). These are also not your average sandwiches - each one had something extra in it to elevate it! My favorite was the truffle chicken salad sandwich - absolutely delicious! I received a text the day before from staff asking for my tea selection and they were so helpful wi the making recommendations with teas! Their tea menu is extensive so I also liked that we could pick the day before, as it would have taken time away from our experience if we spent so much time combing over the tea menu. They have indoor seating and outdoor seating (covered patio with cooling and heat). The indoor area looked like a classic tea parlor however outdoors is where it's at! It was a wonderful combination of mismatched furniture that weaves in a garden party/Allison Wonderland vibe! I would definitely recommend picking outdoors if you can! read more
My daughter and I love afternoon tea and I found this spot not too far from where she lives in Brooklyn. The atmosphere is so charming, gorgeous china and antiques everywhere, and the tea service was lovely - excellent sandwiches, scones, and sweets. I should note that the scones are much more biscuit-like in texture than scones, but still very good and served with clotted cream and jam and lemon curd. The manager of this location is extremely welcoming and friendly and although we sat indoors, we took a peek at the backyard garden and it was such a charming, cosy place. read more

Located on Vanderbilt ( easy walk fr Barclay) This quaint Tea room is a must visit You're buzzed in( make reservations). You enter this whimsical tea Room( even the chandelier has tea mugs) " Shelby" greeted us and led us to our table. We received our respective teas( tea room emails you with their selection of teas so you choose, makes for better steeping Our server was friendly, efficient. He explained all the yummy finger sandwiches. Desserts. Very relaxed chill vibe.. we had a wonderful time The finger sandwiches were tasty and just the right amount of sweets. We ended up packing a couple to take home and there were 4 of us, so we felt there was more than enough food. read more

A lovely experience overall and my second time at Brooklyn High Low. We got the "classic" set, and it's definitely a great deal at 8 sandwich triangles, 1 biscuit sized scone, and 1 dessert set per person, plus bottomless black tea that was absolutely delicious, all for about $50 per person. The service was wonderful and attentive. The staff were all extremely friendly and of course the decorations and atmosphere were incredible as well. I would highly recommend this to celebrate something special or for a cute intimate date. read more

This place is a gem. I really enjoyed my time here and the only reason I'm not giving five stars is because of the 1 hour 15 minute time limit. I understand they want to turn as many customers, but it just felt so rushed. The staff did NOT rush us, but let me tell ya, that time goes by in a poof! I felt like I had to eat quickly, and drink my tea quickly. I wish the time limit was 1:45, so I could savor everything a bit more. The ambiance feels very grandma chic. I can't speak for the outside, but they did an amazing job decorating the inside. I like how they even have mismatched serving ware - very eclectic. They text you a day or two before coming in to see what your tea preference is in order for them to steep it prior to your arrival, which is great. I did the Grand Vanderbilt option and chose the Oolong Orange Blossom tea. So fresh and light. I enjoyed really enjoyed the scone and little sandwiches. The desserts were a little lackluster, but all in all I enjoyed everything and for only $60/person, it's a great deal! read more
Came here for afternoon tea with friends and it's absolutely adorable here, whether you are indoors or "outdoors". We were in the outdoor section which is completely covered but allows some sun in, and is positively cheerful and decorated with florals and beautiful mismatched teacups, etc. We opted for the Vanderbilt service which included all the tea sandwiches, scones with jam and lemon curd, and some small desserts, as well as a bottomless tea for each person. We were not rushed even though we came a bit late due to parking issues. The tea was ready for us since they asked for our preferences prior to the weekend. We got the jasmine dream, which was a good standard green tea, the strawberry almond green tea, which was a little strange but also enjoyable, the toffee pu erh, which tasted kind of like coffee and was good with milk and sugar, and the sleep ease which was more of an herbal tea with chamomile. Honestly, I didn't really love the tea selection because I felt that a lot of the options were too floral or altered from classic ones (I would have been happier with a regular pu erh and oolong). If you are Asian and used to more classic green and black teas keep this in mind, but it's definitely a personal preference. The scones were fresh and fluffy and I really tore into the lemon curd. The finger sandwiches mostly were not very memorable. I think we liked the ones with smoked salmon and chicken salad, and I liked the dill one as well. The dessert consisted of a macaron, a small serving of chocolate mousse with cannoli cream, a chocolate covered strawberry, and one more pastry for each person I don't know the name of. I was really too full by this point to fully enjoy the dessert, but I do wish there were more standout items on the dessert plate. Overall, this was a lovely experience mostly due to the ambience, but a bit overpriced. Service was great. The actual tea and food were not the absolute best, but everything was fresh and quality was definitely not skimped on. I would absolutely still recommend coming here if you like afternoon tea. read more

Updated: I went back a week later to pick up our souvenirs. Thank you! Note: They are open on Friday 12PM with last seating at 3:30 (close at 5PM), Saturday-Sunday from 10AM with last seating at 3:30 (close at 5PM). Note: This is a 90 timed seating and very strict on time. Forewarning: They prepared the bill in advanced. Due to a personal reason, one of our party wasn't able to join in this experience. This is the reason the bill needed to be changed and the restaurant graciously accommodated us. Thank you! It's so nice to experience afternoon tea so I couldn't wait to try this treat! You ring the ring doorbell for entry to the restaurant; the door is locked until an employee let's you in. This is a very cute place. Everything is mismatched, very cozy and inviting. The way each table is position, it gives you an open space concept though allow intimate gathering with your friends. Make reservations on OpenTable and select which tea option you are going for. We made reservations for "the Heights" experience. Highly recommend: immediately order at least one pot of tea while you are deciding what other teas you would like to try. Sometimes tea options won't be available (like Victorian Earl Gray) so be open-minded to try something else. If you need, there is a tea specialist who can recommend tea flavors. We tried Earl Gray with flavored sugar, Apple Sage, and Oolong Orange Blossom. Surprisedly, I loved the Earl Gray the best, because I am not a fan of Earl Gray. We didn't try any other teas since we had sufficient tea for all of us during the time duration. We received a bowl of butternut squash soup first. Afterwards, the triple plate tea tier arrives. It was: - Chocolate Covered Strawberry, Chocolate Mousse, sugar cheesecake pastry - Baked scones, crumpets with herb butter, Strawberry jam, lemon curd, and clotted cream. The best condiments were strawberry jam, lemon curd and clotted cream - Each Guest gets to choose 4 out of 7 flavors of tea sandwiches for the Heights experience. The best is the chicken truffle salad sandwich. - Purple coleslaw salad The bill will arrive at your table 10 minutes before the end of your time without you asking for the bill. With the heights experience, we are supposed to receive a souvenir. Due to the confusion of the bill adjustment, we didn't receive our souvenir. I contacted the restaurant the next day to inquire. They apologized for the oversight and will give us the souvenir, which I will pick up at a later date. Overall it's a nice experience though take note of the limited date availability and seating time. Enjoy! read more
What a dreamy and elegant tea house :) All decors look like little pieces from thrift stores, one of an kind yet fit neatly together. We chose to sit outside due to COVID concerns, but man what a cute little backyard! Loved the extensive list of tea options, and many many sandwich flavors. The only downside is that price is a bit on the high end. read more
Went for afternoon tea this past weekend and had a great time catching up with some girlfriends. Honestly for a lot of tea places the ambiance and environment is what you're paying for and I definitely think we got our money's worth here! Despite sitting in the outdoor patio area, it was still very cozy and warm. The decor is really cute and vibrant and the covered patio was actually a great opportunity to catch some much-needed sunlight as well. On to the actual food, we opted for the Classic Tea set ($48) and was pretty impressed by how much food came with it. I think we all agreed that the freshly baked scone was the best part and the jam and clotted cream paired with it perfectly. The Classic set only comes with black tea and all the vegetarian sandwiches but it was more than enough to satisfy us. The only thing that was a little disappointing were the desserts (macarons and chocolate pudding). If you want a little more variety then the Vanderbilt or Grand Heights options would be better. Lastly, the service was very friendly but at times a little slow (we had to ask for refills each time). Highly recommend for a cute catch up session :) read more
Afternoon Tea is one of my favorite types of experiences, but I didn't get to do it throughout the entire pandemic until recently. My friend and I participated in the "Vanderbilt" Tea Service, which included a pot of tea each, 4 tea sandwiches, purple cabbage slaw, scones, and mini desserts. The cost of this was $58, which is standard pricing. The interior décor was absolutely lovely, with elegant place settings, colorful chairs, pretty paintings, and cute trinkets all over the comfortable, cozy room. There were a wonderful variety of teas, and I chose Decadence, which was a rich blend of Earl Grey, rose petals, strawberry pieces, cocoa nibs, and damiana leaf. This was tasty and fragrant, however I think I preferred my friend's Scottish Toffee Pu-Erh. It was a delicate, sweet mix, and delightfully creamy. For the mini sandwiches, we had 7 to choose from. I decided to order the Truffle Chicken and Parsley Salad, Bacon with Mascarpone Tart, Triple Cream Brie & Fig Preserves, and the Special of the Day, which consisted of plantains and lime. My favorite was the Truffle Chicken. The chicken was tender and well seasoned, with strong truffle taste. I also enjoyed the Bacon Tart, which came in a light, crispy tart shell. The Mascarpone was oh so velvety smooth, and the bits of crunchy bacon were fried to perfection. The Brie and Fig sandwich was also pretty good, though I would have liked more fig flavor. The plantain sandwich wasn't quite what I was expecting and I wasn't a fan of it. The plantains were mashed and had a weird taste to it. I also couldn't really detect the lime, which came with it. A purple cabbage slaw accompanied the sandwiches, and it was decent. It was nicely pickled with a satisfying crunch, though I am not big on coleslaw in general, so I didn't have much of it. The scones came with clotted cream, lemon curd, and raspberry preserves jam. They were round and very appetizing looking, however, were a bit disappointing. While the scones were moist, crumbly, and buttery, I found them to be too dry. The clotted cream and accompaniments made it better tasting. I mean, how can you go wrong with fresh clotted cream and fruity spreads? Desserts included an adorable tiny cup of pudding with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles on top, chocolate covered strawberries, mini cake with vanilla frosting and rainbow sprinkles on it, and finally, French macarons. Chocolate covered strawberries are one of my favorite treats and they were delicious... Juicy with deep, dark chocolate. The pudding was great as well with vanilla-y, butterscotch notes. The mini cake was a mouthwatering bite. I didn't care for the macaron, because I thought it was chocolate and matcha, but turned out to be mint and I didn't like the combination. Service was good for the most part. Our waitress was friendly, kind and on top of it. There was a 75-minute limit for this tea service, and it is strictly enforced, so we were quite rushed in the end, but in the most polite way possible. Overall, it was a pleasant time and I am glad I was able to try the Afternoon Tea here. read more
Phenomenal experience, for my best friends bday! It started to rain, which just added to the immaculate ambience! Finally a tea house with the right music vibe-- you'll hear low jazz from the 40s. The decor was perfect with tons of floral dinnerware, wisteria, plants, old fashioned furniture, and we got lucky and had lovely rain sounds added to our stay- on the back patio! The food was prompt & delicious, with a lovely hostess who gave us the rundown. We will definitely return!
