I actually think I might prefer this location to their original one-- decor was similar and just as cute but I think the sandwiches were better. Not sure if that's a location thing or if they just updated their menu. Been to several afternoon tea places at this point and BHL might be my favorite just because of how worth it the price is and how amazing the place is decorated. They have a really extensive and creative tea menu. I got the Scottish toffee, which is def my favorite I've tried so far (followed by coconut macaron). My friends got cinnamon bourbon (which has a LOT of both cinnamon and bourbon flavor somehow) and the Italian biscotti (which I didn't like as much). First time visiting this tea place, it's super cute, reservations only. We chose The Grand Vanderbilt $65/person, which includes 8 sandwiches, a choice of tea, a scone & desserts. My husband is lactose intolerant, I told them ahead of time so they were able to accommodate without extra costs. They have many teas to choose from, it's supposed to be bottomless but they never came to refill our tea even though we put the "refill" clip on top of our triple tier stand and you only get 75min to dine. My party of 5 and I came here for a bridal shower. We got The Vanderbilt Package (~$70 pp before tax and tip) and the Cheers add on. The package is unlimited tea refills for 2 hours. Staff were friendly. It is very cute and instagrammable; think vintage victorian style aesthetic. Couches are comfortable. There were many tea options (many lean towards floral and sweet). My party tried the chocolate tea, bluberry, peach and chai. All were delicious. My favorite were the scones and jam; hot buttery and flaky. Sandwiches were a hit or miss (cucumber, egg salad, curry, jam, etc). Variety of desserts; they were also hit or miss. Heads up - reservation changes i.e. cancellation for a guest requires advance notice (not day of) or you pay half price for their seat. Easiest way to get here is ride sharing or mass transit (10 min walk from the B/Q 7th avenue station). Parking might be challenging. Good experience and the bride had a wonderful time. OMG, this was my most favorite tea experience ever. The parlour is absolutely lovely. So much care and thought was put into the decor and set-up. Immediately when you step to the entrance door your experience starts. The staff was friendly and very welcoming. You can tell they enjoy their job and your experience. It's very cozy and intimate. The set-up makes you feel like you're in your older rich aunts living room who has trinkets from all over. The actual service was delicious and very pretty. I loved every sandwich especially the fig jam and curry chicken. I was excited because we started with herb butter and crumpets. It's rare in the states to get crumpets with tea. The biscuits were huge and delicious with the clotted cream and lemon curd. We had unlimited tea so we had a variety of options to choose from and each was delicious. The team was knowledgeable and gave us some mix ideas. We were stuffed and had to take the sweets home. I've never been to tea where I've had more than two cups so this was a true treat. We didn't feel rush nor did we want to leave. It was such a lovely and relaxing experience. A wonderful place to spend a cold afternoon getting high tea. The decor was super cute, with teacups on the ceiling and a different style of pot for each tea. We got the Grand Vanderbilt, which really went above in beyond all my expectations. They had "name tags" for every pot of tea that we got; I personally got the orange blossom oolong, but they had a huge variety with very interesting flavors including eggnog oolong, istalian biscotti roobios, and porch pecan praline pekoe. We tried each sandwich one by one and I was really impressed by the selection. A couple of the sandwiches had very interesting combinations, such as blue cheese and guava, which I would have never expected to put together but the flavors do pair very nicely together. I really liked the lemon curd and clotted cream combination on the scones. We were a bit rushed towards the end because they were closing at 5pm (I think each session is 75 minutes, which I didn't realize ahead of time). We had only just started trying out all the different bites so next time I'd definitely focus more on eating the food, since we rushed through a lot of the desserts (pumpkin pie, chocolate mousse, chocolate covered strawberries). The only thing I got confused by is that they have two locations that are about a 10 minute walk from each other (Prospect Heights and The Parlour). The scones were kinda dry and I put clotted cream on them -- clotted cream was also just ok. They had us choose our teas before our reservation so they can prepare them ahead of time, which was nice! Super cute high tea place in the Park slope area. The space is nice and cozy with an elegant Victorian charm that to it. My friend and I went with the Grand Vanderbilt option which came with a variety of delicious mini sandwiches, scones with sides of clotted cream, strawberry jam and lemon curd, and a variety of mini desserts, and chocolate covered strawberries. It was nice and filling for brunch, and perfect for the two of us. The option we selected also came with two tea pots that we each got to select one of. I picked the cinnamon black tea, and my friend picked the decadence. Both of the teas were refreshing and delicious but, I preferred the cinnamon black tea better! A casual tea room with exceptional teas, wonderful food, and a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Reservations were made for a Sunday. We had the Grand Heights tea package with a few extras included. There is a bell to ring on your way into this establishment on the lower level of a brown stone building. Upon entering we were greeted by a friendly hostess and immediately seated. We sat in the pretty pink room for our tea service. We found all of the employees to be incredibly helpful, friendly, and attentive. All of our food was tasty and fresh. We had the bottomless tea service. We tried the berry berry, mint lavender, and honey bush chai. When you make reservations you can choose two teas so that they can be pre-brewed. Upon arrival the tea is ready to be consumed and enjoyed immediately. The only draw back we had was the seemingly short period of time for our tea service. The policy is that each different tea package has a certain set time allotted to each table. We had 90 minutes but felt as though time just flew by. We had an amazingly good time. The employees were all very sweet, accommodating, and overall lovely. They made the experience all the more enjoyable. We will definitely be back. read more

I have had tea here 3 times. It is a delightful oasis, where you can forget the outside world and have a great conversation with the friend you haven't seen in ages. This self described "Teakeasy" (tea + speakeasy) is maybe the best High Tea place in all of NYC. A group of friends and I were trying to get a slot at Brooklyn High Low and were told about this cute new location nearby. This new place is even more stylish and cute than High Low, and has an even more luxurious vibe due to its speakeasy nature. We got the Vanderbilt set, which comes with a tier of scones, a tier featuring six pairs of unique little sandwiches, and a dessert tier of mousse cups, macarons, and chocolate covered strawberries. Each tier was fantastic and had great variety. The scones came with three different types of spreads which let you bounce from sweet to tangy to savory. The sandwiches also showcased a good variety of unique flavors, my favorite being the (apricot?) jam sandwich and the pickle/ketchup. The desserts were great too - I really loved the mousse cups! If I had one minor qualm it would be that the masala chai tasted like pretty bland regular black tea, but perhaps I'm expecting too much spice because I'm Indian :) Next time I'll try one of the fancy teas like coconut truffle or just ask for a spicier brew - I'm sure their other stuff is great and more their specialty. I still really enjoyed sipping and chilling. The service was excellent- we never had to wait or flag anyone down for refills or milk or anything else. The seating was also super cozy, we stayed in there for almost 3 whole hours and never got uncomfortable! Overall probably my favorite high tea spot in NYC thus far! Highly recommend checking it out. We made a reservation on open table for the grand heights which is a $70pp experience. The difference between this tier and the next lower tier is you get crumpet and a soup. Before your reservation they text you to ask which teas you want so that they can steep it in time for your reservation, thought that was a nice touch but just check your texts about 2 hours prior, especially if you have others in your party. The crumpets were good and the soup was decent. Most afternoon tea spots cost around this price, so while it is an expensive experience I think it's on par with the typical afternoon tea. The service was good, the seating was comfortable, and the food was decent as well. I don't remember all the sandwiches but my two friends liked the curry chicken one, I liked the salmon, the crumpets, the scones. The salad reminded me of Cole slaw. The cucumber one I remember being below average and plain. The teas we had were Indigo Ambriosa Herbal, Breathe Deep, Orange oolong blossom. I thought the orange oolong blossom and indigo Ambriosa herbal were good, but I wasn't a fan of the breathe deep because it was minty. We were so excited to experience the Heights service, which was the highest tier of tea service the Parlour offers. I actually chose this because it afforded us the maximum amount of time my friends and I could spend together - 90 minutes. At the 75 minute mark, we were asked if we wanted to go cups and takeaway boxes. The next 15 minutes of the service, we were approached 3 more times, with dishes being taken away. We were eventually asked to leave before 90 minutes was up with a staff member wearing her coat and ready to leave the establishment. I gave feedback and the owner responded that she apologized they could not offer additional time and it was a busy holiday time. I was not asking for additional time, just the time I paid for, which was not an insignificant amount, even for Brooklyn. The 15 minutes would have been the difference between a great experience and the disappointing one we had. Plenty of other really lovely, unrushed-service tea rooms around. It was a nice afternoon but a few things ought to be considered. Good: It seemed very clean. The Boho/cottagecore atmosphere was well curated and charming. The sconces were excellent, very fresh but small The sandwiches did not have much filling but they were tasty. Could be better: There is no coat check room or even a hall tree or umbrella stand. The waitstaff wore jeans. Given the decor, vintage fashions would be more in keeping with the vintage atmosphere. The tea menu had mostly sweet flavored teas. There were savory sandwiches so more classic teas would have been appreciated, to better enjoy the savory creations. There were some plain teas available mostly of the tea bag type. There is one table for two opposite a window into the service kitchen. It is noisy and busy. Make certain you do not get seated there or your attempts to converse will be drowned out by the clatter of China etc. The sandwiches were tasty but the bread, especially the brown bread, was dry. Keeping a spotless new cloth well wrung out in cold water over the sandwiches before serving will prevent this. The tea was not poured by the servers. The tea pots were heavy to lift when full. The tables were all coffee table height, a higher table is more comfortable. The price, especially for this level of service, was much too high. read more

I just hosted my friend's birthday here, for a group of 11 women, and let me say off the bat that I have NEVER, ever, in my life written a review, so I'm not a complainer. Good stuff first: the ambiance, decor, and service were perfectly fine. Yes, the owner contacted me in advance multiple times about the size of my party and what we were ordering and how long we could stay (apparently a strict 75 minutes), but I understand that. The staff was friendly, and the couches and vibe were were comfy and Victorian, so it was a nice place to sit. However, we spent $70 each for the Vanderbilt service, and the food was terrible. I am so surprised by the other reviews that liked the food! The scones were fine, but the main part of the tea is the sandwiches, and they were honestly inedible. The cucumber one was the only one I could even choke down. We bit into everything else (guava paste & blue cheese, stilton, ricotta & tomato, chicken curry, and some others) but could not finish a single one, and every woman I was with had a plate in front of her with like 5-8 sandwiches with one bite missing -- and we are not picky eaters! For some reason, we were given many, many guava paste & blue cheese sandwiches, and we were told this was because we ordered vegetarian meals ("when someone orders vegetarian we always fill out the order with guava paste" -- but WHY?!). When I told the staff that we did not like them and asked if we could order something else since we got so many of them (my friends actually took one bite and said they were "vile," and honestly they really were), we were told that we could only order a la carte, at an additional cost of course. If one sandwich was not to our liking, that would have been fine, but they were all just bad (or really mediocre at best). Bottom line, I hate to complain and feel bad writing this, but I just can't believe it cost $70 for this "experience." We all left hungry.
