Absolutely one of my favorite coffee shops in the city, and definitely one of my favorite in the neighborhood. The coffee is the best around (not too strong like some artisanal places make) and affordable. Juice is good and so are the smoothies (I like Marcy Mango), but the food is where it's at. I'm bummed I moved out of the area or else I'd still be going in regularly. They're open on the later side too, so it's the only place to grab coffee after work if you need it. This review has been so overdue. Brooklyn Blend is by far, my absolute favorite black owned spot in Brooklyn. I used to live right around the corner and used to come so often that the people who worked there were concerned if I didn't show up for a while. Everything from the ambience and decor of the restaurant, to their incredible servers, and their music is incredibly welcoming. But let's talk about the food. Because let me say that Brooklyn Blend is the only spot that I will spend my money and get a full meal that is nutritious, healthy, and so good! As a pescatarian/flexatarian, it's tough for me to find spots that cater their cuisines to be more plant based or incorporate fish in their food. I never have a problem choosing what i want to eat at Brooklyn Blend(unless I'm trying to switch it up which is a problem because I'm stubborn to my signature meal). My favorite is the Park Slope Salmon Sandwich and Fulton Street smoothie. Even though I now live 30 minutes away from BB, I still make my way down there for a good ole breakfast or brunch spot. I always passed by here on my way home so decided to come by for a quick bite. Clean place with great music and atmosphere! I got the Park Slope Salmon Sandwich which was made fresh and quite tasty, it did get soggy after awhile because of the chipotle sauce especially if you don't eat it right away. I actually prefer the Park Slope Salmon Salad to the sandwich, which was refreshing and delicious. I also tried one of their smoothies while waiting for my order but I didn't like it because it was way too sweet for my taste. I had a banana/peanut butter base one and struggled with making it last until my meal came. I also admired the ambience. This is from a tourist perspective so I can't speak to consistency but everything we had was fresh, tasty and well prepared. The team was friendly, helpful and very energetic. While I'm certain locals will argue the relative merits of their own favorite spot as an outsider I felt like we got to experience a great sampling of Brooklyn living at fair prices. There's no shortage of amazing and great places to drink and eat in NY. Unlike so many other cities around the world, I found that the average to bad coffee shops and restaurants are the exception. So, it's no surprise that I stumbled upon another one. I loved every single thing from this place. Beautiful and simple decor, unbelievably friendly staff, outstandingly delicious smoothies, shakes and coffee. Plus, all reasonably priced considering the size of the drinks and the freshness and quality of the ingredients! I didn't get a chance to try any of the food options available, however I'm sure it's great! 5 star service!! We're always looking for healthy options for a chill kickback space and Brooklyn Blend has that and more. When we told one of the staff members that it was our first time they pulled out all the stops, with excellent service and gave us samples of some of their delicious smoothies and fresh pressed juices. We stayed for hours enjoying the space and playing the chess set they have at one of their tables. We came back a few days later because we were so blown away by the drinks and service and the same barista welcomed us back with a warm hug. This time we opted for smoothies and a salmon salad so good that we've attempted to recreate it at home. Decided to go to here since i wanted a juice. I ordered a bed-stuy beet with no lemon but ask if Spinach and Kale can be added. I watched the gentleman make my juice and no Kale was added. Also i got the left over from someone else's juice which included lemon. The juice is not bad but make what i ask for. What if I was allergic to lemons? I paid an extra $1 for the Kale and Spinach to be added. The lady who took my order was very professional. The atmosphere in there is so dope and they have good music. I had to schedule a meeting in bed study and immediately knew that this place would be friendly enough to accommodate. I have an off menu tip: skip the juice and order the mint lemonade. This is the first time in a long time that the smell of salmon made me almost lose my vegan mind. It smelled so yummy!! But I stayed strong and ordered one of the vegan salads.
