A german-inspired bierhall that's true to it's intentions, Bronson's is a popular one in the Arlington area and rightfully so. With plenty of tvs, open-style seating, and a menu of german bar eats, there's a lot to like with this establishment. You can either order at the bar or use your phone to scan the barcode at the tables and pay as you go in which someone will bring your order to you upon completion. If you're an introvert or just hate talking to people, this is the way to go. As for beer, there's a large variety available on tap here and they are served in large servings. About 16 on tap, it comes in either half liter or full liter. Tons of German style beer such as Hefeweizen, kolsch, and the Optimal Wit by Port City, one of my favorites. As for food, think of mostly bar food with some German handhelds which include sausages/bratwurst which is what I usually order; they come with peppers/onions and sauerkraut. The also have burgers, pizza, and different kinds of pretzels. You can also go with their hodgepodge of appetizers such as tacos, wings, pierogis, nachos, wontons, and others. It's a bigger menu than you would think for a bierhall. It's a popular spot for me and my coworkers whenever we're in Arlington. Always look forward to hanging here for some beer and to watch a game of some sorts.
Best time to come here is Happy Hour before 6, since crowds of young people flock this place for late night drinks. Incidentally, I always notice a very healthy under-30 crowd. Came here at 5:30 and loved the HH specials. Generous TV screen set up and spacious hall adds to the atmosphere of merrinent. The bar staff is super attentive, which is appreciated. Overall recommend.
The manager (maybe bar manager) is AMAZING here. The whole staff is on top of everything and works great as a team. Food and drinks are incredibly fast for how busy it was (game 7 basketball night, standing room only) and it's such a great environment. Great food and beer, better service. Would be here all the time if we were from the area!
I LOVEE this bar!!! It's my favorite ambiance, vibe, food, etc. This spot is always rowdy and they have tons of tvs, great food options, and drinks. October is my favorite time to come to this bar because they have a reallyyyyy goood October fest beer. We came on the weekend and it was already hard to find a table around 12:30 pm. There were a couple of tables reserved so we couldn't sit there. We ordered: October fest beer it came in the 1L beer stein 10/10 Bronson Reuben Sandwich with tater tots 9/10 Huge sandwich! Bursting with flavor Pizza Pretzel 9/10 Gigantic pretzels super delicious. I love their queso but it didn't come with the queso. I didn't get a picture I was too busy easy Overall, this is my favorite bar and a solid choice. Especially because I don't like bar food like that. I highly recommend this spot.
Nice indoor beer spot for Happy Hour. Came here after work and it's a good place to chat, watch the game, etc Fried pickles are an acquired taste but the mozzarella bites were good! I also asked for a sweet cocktail so they gave me a summer coolade (?) and it was nice and refreshing.
Super chill pub with a great outdoor area in Arlington! Service was quick and good. Food was ok: - Stuffed pretzel: 10/10 (probably the best dish we ordered! It was cheesy and savory. Loved the dipping sauce it came with.) - Sausage board: 8/10 (decent variety of sausages with mustard on the side) - Buffalo wings: 6/10 (ok wings) - Beer: 7/10 (a lot of the beer selection was out of stock by the time we got there. Beer was good but it would've been better if the beer was a bit colder.)
Been here recently and this is a great sports bar. There is alot of seating but can get packed if there are big games going on. There is outdoor seating with heat lamps which are very warm! The food and drinks are good. You scan the barcode at your table to order and pay and they bring it out to you so there is no hassle to wait for a check or waiter.
This pub is super chill. You walk in and find your spot wherever you find it. They have really good food!! I got old bay wings (made crispy/well done) and I also got the berry salad and added steak. My sister got the blue crab pretzel and just as a heads up, ITS HUGE! Not an item for one person. For a drink, I got Sauvignon Blanc. All items are reasonable priced and there is outdoor seating. It can get SUPER loud inside so that can be a bit over stimulating. I found myself plugging my ears with my fingers There is street parking or garages around - me and my sister took the train from DC and called it a day. To order, you can scan the barcode on your table and the server will bring your food to the table. Super fast and easy.
Came to watch a basketball game, and was surprised my friends and i were able to get a seat. Usually Bronson's is packed when games are on. However, this time it had a nice amount of people. They also had live music, the singer was amazing. I wish i would have gotten his name. I got what I have gotten before which is the sliders, which were delicious and not too heavy. I split that, and a caesar salad with my friend which was a nice size portion and super good. We got the prickly pear margarita, and were not a fan at all. I had one sip and it tasted as if I was drinking hot sauce. I tried to add sprite and water to make it better but unfortunately it was undrinkable. My friend said she has had this drink before and it was a different color and tasted different, so maybe it was just made incorrectly. Not sure I will try it again, but my curiosity is getting the better of me so we shall see. We finished off our meal with the cookie skillet, which was a large portion of a giant chocolate chip cookie and ice cream. It was surprisingly only $7 and was enough for 3 people. Great place for some shareables, and drinks.
Surprisingly great food for a beer hall! Reasonably priced too. I love the vibes of the indoor and outdoor seating. There's plenty of tables in both spaces too which is great for big groups. It's seat yourself and you don't really have wait staff, you order with a QR code. Great vibes with lots of live music
I had been here twice, once in early January 2024 and once on Saturday, December 14, 2024, both were the same friend's birthday party. For his December 2023 birthday, he decided to wait until after holidays as it was a busy time for him & people in general. I'll into more detail about the December visit, but the January visit I had a burger & fries and a beer. It was decent, but nothing to write home about. In December, my girlfriend & I had a tight schedule on that Saturday and determined we were going to need to eat there, as we had something after the birthday party as well. I wasn't that enthusiastic about this (as I felt it was kind of overpriced, mediocre, and if we had time we could've eaten before or after), but we didn't have much choice. Both visits the inside area was crowded, but we did the outside patio area, which was cold in the winter, but not really too bad with some heat lamps around. In January, we were at a couple of high top tables, but the December visit was at a long picnic bench. I had forgotten from the January visit, but this was something that was annoying; there is a scanner to get the menu, and then you had to place the order on your phone with no servers except for when they bring the food/drink to your table # and to clean. I didn't like this setup. For one I prefer looking on a physical menu instead of scrolling through a small phone to determine what I want. I like when a server comes around (or ordering at a counter). I'm sure you could go inside to order food with the bartender, but that would be hassle with us being outside and being a crowded bar. On this long outside table, the scanner was only on our side of the long table, which was fine for us. But some at the party had to come from way over at the other end of the table just to scan as their side didn't have, which we thought was stupid; they should've been on both sides of the table. Also, it asks for a tip ahead of time. I'm not going to tip ahead of time until I know whatever service I'm getting is decent. In January, I left a couple of bucks in cash since it's not even full service. In December, we left and forgot since we paid up front (oh well). We waited a little bit as we weren't that hungry but knew we needed to eat. We waited about 30 minutes to see what a few people got. We determined the pizza looked good. Someone let us sample the pretzel; it was decent, but I didn't want some big bulky pretzel for dinner, which wasn't that great. We decided to get hush puppies & split pizza. The hush puppies were excellent, the best I've had in while! The pizza was good, but plenty of better pizza places, but it hit the mark enough with the chicken & mushroom. If my friend does his birthday party here again, I might try to eat before (or after). But if we were going to eat here, I'd definitely recommend the hush puppies. Pizza I'd be fine with getting again.
Just Wow. My Granddaughters LOVE To Come Here And Say This Is By Far Their Favorite Place. Both managers (Aaron And James) Are Awesome And Makes All Of Their Patrons Feel Welcome. Aaron And James, Just Know You Guys Are AWESOME! #RollBronson Also Laine Is Awesome As Well.
Always have a good experience here at Bronson's! Been here a handful of times. A fun social environment. Usually a place to meet up with friends, drink, and eat a good huge pretzel. In the summer I sit outside in the patio area and bring my dogs with me. They're always a huge hit. The pretzels are so big and so good. Always have leftover that I bring home and eat for a snack! Never had any issues here! read more
Loved our experience here. I love how they are doing contactless ordering which allows you to enjoy conversation with friends and are able to order on your own time. The inside is so beautifully decorated and their menu is extensive with a lot of great options. We got the pierogis, pepperoni pretzel, and sausage sampler board. All the food was super good and the beers were all amazing. I'd love to come back just to try some of the other items on the menu. The only thing I wish they had is a flight so you could try more of their awesome selection of beer instead of getting full off of 2 .5L. read more

Wow! Thoroughly impressed by Bronson bierhall not only as a bierhall but for food! They have tremendous offerings of quality. U ordered 8 wings (old bay and buffalo split 4/4) and those were some of the best wings I've had in a while! They were crunchy and filled with flavor without being drowned in sauce or rub. The meat was cooked perfectly it was nearly fall of the bone! THE BRUSSEL SPROUTS. I DREAM OF THOSE BRUSSEL SPROUTS. They were perfectly cooked and had a sort of sauce on them that added the perfect hint of sweetness. I was so full and had to fight every bone in my body from finishing them just because they were so yummy (I took them as leftovers and they were just as good no worries!) I had one beer and it was a sour. I don't remember which one exactly but it was a blueberry and something else flavor. I am not a beer girl except when sours are in the mix, then I go crazy for them. I appreciate Bronson for having a wide range of options not just for sours but for all kinds of beers and drinks alike! We were there for the big commanders v eagles game so the line to get in was pretty gruesome and the crowd inside was very much there but all in all it was very fun and they had a bunch of places to sit and ample tvs to watch the game! The pictures don't do the food justice but take my word and try it out! read more
What a fun place- good food & terrific ambience! We came on a busy Saturday afternoon & still found a seat. After ordering at the bar (their tabletop ordering system was down), we sat outside and started with a couple of their gigantic pretzels & some drinks. The pretzels were fantastic & came with a delicious cheese fondue plus some good stone ground mustard. My son ordered the Reuben which was tasty too & went well with his Austrian beer. My daughter & I ordered a couple cherry blossom mules (I think that's what they are called) & we were a bit disappointed as there wasn't really much cherry flavor. We also ordered the schnitzel strips which were the most disappointing as they were basically chicken strips served with honey mustard & nothing like schnitzel. The take away- go for the beer & definitely the pretzels! read more

This place has a really fun German-themed restaurant located in the Ballston area of Arlington. They have a variety of German and domestic beers to choose from and a large German themed food menu. Definitely check out the HUGE soft pretzels they offer. One awesome feature of this place is that they're dog friendly on the outside patio. I really enjoyed the atmosphere at this location and will be returning in the near future. read more

I have been dying to try this since I moved here! I split it with a friend and we couldn't finish it. It's so rich but absolutely delicious and would get again! The food and drinks come out so quickly too because of ordering on your phone! It was such a nice night sitting outside and would definitely recommend! read more
Holy Bronson Bierhall!!!! Talk about down right amazing!! I can see why this place is packed and poppin!!! I met my cousin and his crew here on a weeknight for HH and no idea what to expect and let's just say I was pleased!! As soon as you walk in, its a beer hall vibe!!! The bar here is spacious and open with plenty of seating. It can get a little crowded but have no fear there are other seats near!!! If sitting at the bar itself is not your thing, they do have plenty of high top tables let line the edges as well as a more modern version of communal picnic tables that you can sit at. The beer selection is nice with not only german beers (draft and bottle) but some local fav as well like the Port City Optimal Wit (that I am currently crushing on)!! If you find something you like do not be shy and go ahead and get that 1L which is $2 off during happy hour (cha-ching). Food is memorable as well, from the giant pretzel that you can share or the Grilled Bourbon BBQ Wings (my official new fav) that will have you saying forget the napkin because you will be licking your fingers trying to savor the flavor. This is also a great spot to catch the game as the have plenty of tvs around the bar area for your viewing pleasure. No beer hall is complete without games and Bronson has you covered with ping pong, shuffleboard and darts, I do believe. Plus, when the weathers warmer and they slide the garage doors up, you get outdoor seating as well as cornhole!!! The bar can get packed and the service can be shaky at a point or two but its not enough to deplete the entire experience. Bronson has the potential to be my new bae for wings and brews!!! read more

A friend insisted we grab a beer after dinner and Bronson was the preferred place. Fairly busy on a weeknight. There are probably 20 different beers on tap, and many more by the bottle or can. The place resembles an old German or Czech Ratskeller and was a great place to share a table, good conversation with a good friend. Friendly servers and bartenders, who make it a point to answer questions and provide prompt, efficient service. read more
This used to be A Town and they did a legit job renovating into a German type beer hall. They have lots of beers on tap and some okay happy hour specials, including $4 Narragansett cans (from NY not Germany but tasty beer). The food is pretty good, you can't go wrong with the pretzel bites or the potato chips as appetizers and I enjoyed the beef stroganoff as well. The food menu is a little limited but they have brats, schnitzel, etc. so they have the basics for German style bar food. They should add a few entrees to expand their menu. One annoying thing was the live singer around 7pm on a Thursday. He wasn't bad but it was so loud you could barely talk to anyone. I like having live music at places but this was a bit much and nobody seemed to really be listening to him, instead trying to talk over it. This area has been the Bermuda triangle for restaurants, hope they manage to stick it out and I'll be back here if they stick around. read more

Another great establishment in the DMV! Bronson Bierhall serves German-American food and beer in a tavern-like setting, and it is a great place to hangout with friends or co-workers on any given day. The restaurant layout is set up where all seating is long, indoor picnic tables spread throughout the restaurant, and you order food and drink from QR codes at each table. This creates an atmosphere where it's easy to meet people because on busy days because you can either stand at the bar or share a table with other people and chat. There are also a lot of TV's that are perfect for watching sports games. The beers are good and the smallest size of beer is 0.5L. I haven't tried much of the food here, but the Giant Munich pretzel is amazing. Of all the pretzels I've had, this one was the fluffiest, tastiest and biggest. This can be easily shared among 4+ people, and the best part is that the other pretzels on the menu are basically this Giant Munich pretzel but stuffed with either cheese, pepperoni, and even crab! I highly recommend this place and I will definitely be coming back in the future. It is worth noting: because this place is so popular, it can be fairly noisy and difficult to chat with friends. However this should not deter you from trying this place out. read more

I've seen several places cycle through this location, and I think The Bronson is one of the best incarnations. It's a German-inspired beer hall that's got a sort of industrial yet polished vibe. Lots of televisions line the walls, making it a great place to catch a game. I was pleasantly surprised by the food. It's better than most bar fare. I tried the happy hour pretzel bites and schnitzel with fries. It all came out fast and warm with two dips on the side. The beer menu is also quite robust. The biggest downside was that it was pretty crowded and loud, but that's not unexpected for a popular new place around happy hour time. And as with anything in Ballston, be mindful of parking. But I'm looking forward to coming back. read more

Nothing but great things to say about this place. I tried a few different beers, all of which I liked. Many more to try! Had a few different food items all of which were great! Open but cozy interior invites for a group gathering with friends or coworkers. Large selection of beers on tap. Ok happy hour (M-F 3-7pm, Sat 11am-7pm) with some alcohol and food specials (such as $5 well drinks and house wine). Friendly staff, eager to help. TVs with sport events. Food is somewhat limited unless you are all-time fan of sausages and other German pub food. Prices on food are higher than what would be expected. Quality/taste is okay. Conclusion: good for a spontaneous low-key geouo gathering. Probably not the first choice for a family dinner or a date. read more

If you are looking for good vibes, good beer, and solid bar food, this place is for you. They have a good beer selection large enough that there should be something for everyone but it's not overwhelming. The place seems like it is a popular hangout spot for people of all ages. Everything is ordered through a QR code on the table unless you're sitting at the bar, so service was very quick and food and drinks came out within a couple minutes. Highly recommend for the next group hang out. read more
Came here twice, once with coworkers for Happy Hour and once with friends in the evening. The beer was pretty good with a large selection of local beers. The ambiance during the day is pretty chill, and I like how they have a large outdoor section. During weekend nights, this place has more of a sports bar vibe. They did have live music, which was a plus, but this place gets so packed and loud that you can barely hear your friends. The food is pretty standard, mediocre bar food. My friends and I split a pretzel, and it was huge - even with 4 of us, we couldn't finish it. The M.A.C. was stuffed with mozzarella and pepperoni, which tasted like a pepperoni pizza. The first couple bites were really good, but it progressively gets greasier and heavier. The cubano also was ok, but nothing to write home about. I'd be down to visit again with friends, but probably not during peak time on the weekend. Lots of great drinks selection and decent pricing, but would skip out on the food. read more

Bronson is a great place for Sunday football and any other time you want to grab drinks and watch a sports game. The inside is open and light and has a bunch of picnic style tables to sit with big groups. There is also an outdoor portion when it's warm to play corn hole and jenga. The food is pretty good for a beer hall too - we got the lamb burger and Mac and cheese. The burger was delicious and Mac and cheese was decent (better with some hot sauce added). I also tried the cigar city guayabera for the first time here and it's now one of my favorite beers - would definitely suggest if you like a light and refreshing pale ale! read more

I feel like it's time I should update my review for Bronson! This is definitely the go to spot for all things beer, sports, food, games, and just hanging with friends at happy hour! My husband and I visited earlier today for happy hour and we found a couple seats at the bar, there wasn't a ton of rush when we arrived around 4:45pm, but when we left around 6pm it was definitely getting busier! They have a great deal when you order a beer on tap you get $2 off during happy hour so we both got 0.5 liter of beer. We also ordered more food than we needed - the jalapeño cheddar Jack pretzel (spicy!) and the hand cut fries. Both items hit the spot since we were hungry and totally filled us up! Definitely will come back for happy hour or just to chill since there's great beer selection, good food and friendly staff! 5 stars! read more

SO MUCH FUN!! Hung out here on Football Sunday and it was packed. I love how you can come in, seat yourself - hangout anywhere and it's awesome. The bar is large and well staffed and while it's super loud inside - you'll still get the service you need. So many tvs so you can see every game from every angle. We were outside most of the time by the ping pong tables and then moved in to play shuffleboard and darts. Loved the picnic table concept and there was just a lot of room to move around in general. We had the chicken tenders and the chicken salad. Both were pretty good and tons of choices on the beer. It's a great place to bring a large group and definitely to watch sports. Also, I appreciated the manager stopping by just to ask us if everything was going well - great customer service and can't wait to come back! read more

Popped in for a brunch. Their brunch was a pleasant surprise. They have few good food items & great drink deals. They offer $12 sparkling wine bottle, $5 bloody marys & moscow mules. They have a really nice patio area. This place is dog friendly, so you can bring your pup and sit outdoors. However, many of their outdoor umbrellas were not working. It was a challenge on a sunny day. We overall liked the place. We will be coming back. read more
Visited Bronson Bierhall way before quarantine kicked in. I would say it's a welcomed upgrade to the prior restaurant that was in its space. There is now a lot of room, including long tables for large groups, a full U shaped wrap around bar, plenty of lighting, and plenty of TVs that show various channels. Great place to watch a game. The beer is heavily German themed but some craft available, and the food is great. Happy hour deals Monday - Friday. read more

Thoroughly enjoyed my first visit here!!! Definitely will be coming back. The long tables were very spaced out, so it respected COVID/social distancing guidelines. My friends and I felt very comfortable there. They have an awesome menu!! So many options. I had the Mango Wheat Beer... YUM! I typically like blue moons so the mango wheat was a good option! We truly enjoyed this place. The outdoor seating was pleasant, esp for a chilly day (they had outdoor heaters and are dog friendly). The food was phenomenal - favorites were the variety of handmade sausage and the ginormous pretzel for sharing. A surprising delight was the Aslin Isolation DIPA. Holy cow, that beer was SO GOOD, and I'm not even a beer drinker by habit. It was too easy to drink fast, but happy in knowing it's a local brewery being supported, too. We plan on making Bronson Bierhall a regular place on our (safe) outing rotation. read more
