    a variety of chocolates

I stumbled upon this little chocolate place and thought I'd stop in to grab my daughter something sweet. The place really isn't all that huge but amazingly it's packed with all kinds of chocolate goodies. They have chocolate nonpareils, chocolate lollipops, chocolate covered twinkies and devil dogs, chocolate covered nuts, chocolate-covered caramel, chocolate-covered toffee...you name it, they've got it! They even have chocolate dipped fruit (strawberries, grapes, oranges, pineapples, blueberries and bananas) but it's offered only Thursday through Saturday so please don't come here on a Monday looking for chocolate covered grapes, because you won't find it on that day :-) I met Angelina- the associate there. She was extremely knowledgeable about the store's products and very friendly. I told her my daughter was allergic to nuts so she showed me their nut-free section where I purchased a 1/4 pound of completely nut-free (and no cross contamination) dark chocolate nonpareils for my daughter. It came to about $6. I'm not eating desserts and candy right now. I've gone a whole 2 days of staying away from white sugared sweets but for the sake of this Yelp review, I ate one of her candies so I could give you a non-biased review on the taste. Bromilow's chocolate didn't disappoint. It was creamy and delicious and oddly no aftertaste which is generally pretty common in most chocolate food items. Now I'll be bringing the rest of the chocolate home to her. Hopefully it'll make it. Just kidding I would never deprive her of chocolate this good :-)

My husband surprised me with a variety box of Bromilow chocolates for Valentine's Day. I've driven past the store hundreds of times (we live in Caldwell) but somehow never knew it existed. Well, I sure do now! These are some of the best chocolates I've ever had, with the most creative fillings! Every single piece I've tried has been delicious. Can't wait to shop here for every special occasion from now on.

Oh Lord! Nothing should taste this good!!!

I am however, a chocolate fiend. So when I noticed The Pod by Cocoa Compassion on Cedar St in Dobbs Ferry not far from where hubs and I had our antique+vintage shop, I had to visit. The Pod by Cocoa Compassion's owner- Joy is 100% in support of working closely with family-run cacao farmers in The Caribbean, some Central American countries and Africa and sourcing the best quality chocolate bars and powders to these neck of the woods and beyond. What's more, the owner donates a portion of her profits to charitable organizations in NYC. With her chocolate, the owner bakes her own delicious 'Compassion Chocolate Cookies' that are filled with scrumptious dark chocolate chunks, other pastries and her hot chocolate- which is to-die for. When you come to The Pod, you're actually home: sit on the sofa lounge a bit if you want and strike up a conversation with the owner- who's a hoot and damn well knows her cacao. I learned a thing or two maybe three because of her. The shelves are stocked with dark chocolate bars and powders for purchase and specialty gift items as well. By the way, Joy rents(?) the small space up front for pop-up events+vendors selling their handmade jewelry, silk scarves, etc.- just double-check if this is something she's still doing. If you're looking for somewhere to have a tasty hot chocolate, want to indulge in a one of her cookies or come in for the positive vibes, The Pod is a must.
