My family and I were in the area and were craving some cold ice cream on a warm summer night. We saw that Cliff's wasn't far from where we were having dinner so we decided to check it out. When we arrived, the line was out to the highway. The long line bought me some time to decide which flavor to select out of the 60+ different options. I decided to go with the Graham Central Station after reading some other Yelp reviews and articles about their most popular flavors. It was an excellent choice. The texture was amazing and the cinnamon flavor was so delicious. For a "small" cup, the portion was huge. There's a few picnic benches behind the storefront to sit and eat your ice cream. Parking looks like it can be tough on busier nights. I wish it was closer to home but I'm sure I will be back if I am in the area again. Graham Central Station: 5/5 read more

Cliff's Homemade Ice Cream - Graham Central Station - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Ledgewood, New Jersey

Sure the Indigenous peoples of Ledgewood didn't really have an ice cream totem pole but the current inhabitants sure do! Quick service and an ever expanding flavor menu... you'll need the check that board every trip. Now I broke protocol and opted for a soft serve vanilla and it did not disappoint! Creamy & smooth, that cone really hit the spot! And oh yeah, the expansive grounds and crowds are perfect for people watching...and there are some real characters here! read more

I didn't get to take any pictures because the ice cream was melting pretty fast. The small cup came with hardly any ice cream. However for two dollars more I got a waffle cone with two huge scoops of two different flavors. In all my years living up in the area I had never been up there. I have to say it was pretty good but I was somewhat disappointed. I had the double chocolate fudge crunch that was excellent. The black raspberry was good but didn't knock our socks off. Neither did the mint chip. I won't be driving all the way back up there when I have some fantastic places around me in Essex/Passaic counties. Service was ok. The workers didn't seem thrilled to be there. Place is a little run down. Plenty of places to sit and spread out. read more

Nothing has changed since last review! Still the damn best ice cream in the area! Still long lines that move quickly as they have many windows and these kids know how to bang out the sundaes and ice cream fast! Father still swears best Rocky Road! We just love coming here when I'm in the area eating at Pub199 2 miles away! I don't think you ever can go wrong here! Tip the kids working everyone! read more

There isn't much to say that hasn't already been said in other reviews, but this classic homemade ice cream shop has about 1000 varieties of options and all of them are delicious. Personally loved the creamsicle soft serve and the hot fudge sundae! read more

I've had ice cream in countless places. This is the best. Little place on the side of route 46. Tons of flavors to choose from.

Have been meaning to try Cliff's since I LOVE ice cream and was finally nearby. I was in a rush and ordered my usual, coffee ice cream in a regular cup. Would have loved to try some of the other flavors. $8.15 for ONE regular cup of ice cream, no cone. However, it was very good, but I don't see myself making it a point to come here often. If I brought my family, it would be $30 for ice cream I'm sure due to my husbands epic love of sprinkles and/or banana splits. Ample parking and picnic tables. read more

Cliff's Homemade Ice Cream - Regular cup of coffee - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Ledgewood, New Jersey

Very mom and pop vibe at this cute little ice cream hut on this random side of the road in Jersey . A bunch of flavors to choose from . The ice cream is rich/creamy . It's not cheap . There are a handful of windows to order from but there's no one regulating . Line looks long but when you walk up you realize that each line is independent of the other . You can ask to taste a sample before making your final decision . Try it if you're in the area ! read more

Although they serve ice cream year-round...this review is from a few months ago when the weather was warmer. The other day when the weather was in the 30s...there were still people in line getting their Cliff's fix! They have plenty of parking and In the warm months, expect to wait in line, but it usually moves fast. Their ice cream is so good and worth the wait in line. My fave is the Mint Chocolate Chip flavor. They have a ton of flavors on their menu board; including seasonal flavors. My goal is to try a new flavor each time I visit. read more

Just came here for the second time and this place is always popping at night! Its a cute local ice cream place with a ton of flavors I had trouble choosing. I ended up getting the Minty Mountain Hop/Mop? It had a mint base with some oreo pieces and it was delicious! I love their unique flavors! Definitely will be coming back! read more

first, despite our user name, we're real people. I initially bumped into Cliffs 1990ish when getting off I-80 for gas, and swing past there every six months or so. Just realized I had never rated them, so here it is: Five out of five. Good, make that great quality ice cream. And no watering, err, airing down the mix. Solid value. read more

Cliff's homemade Ice Cream feels like a Roxbury township staple. The taste is a deliciously homemade flavor. Doesn't matter what time of the year, there are always customers from either a couple ordering to 4 full lines waiting for yummy goodness. YES, they are opened all year round!! Stating the obvious, the ambiance of cliff's can be enjoyed in the summer months, or shall I say warmer months at the picnic tables they have. Gives that old school vibe that I grew up too. They have soft served ice cream, homemade flavor hard ice cream, they make sundaes, floats and more! They also have Cakes for special occasions. They also do private events from what I've heard, I've never inquired about it. If you're ever in our town, it's a definite must try! Make sure when you stop by tip the kids tending the windows, they handle a lot of orders, maybe it will put a smile on their faces. Enjoy! read more

Not the best in New Jersey like they claim but good. But again, that's just my opinion. Honestly, I have to go again to see if maybe the homemade hard ice cream is the draw because my vanilla cone with rainbow sprinkles didn't slap. The best part about this cone was the price. NO WHERE else can you get a cone with sprinkles for $2 and change. What a steal! The cone was more air than I'm used to but the flavor was good. I expected the ice cream to be thicker, creamier, and bordering on custard. A plus and it sounds weird, the sprinkles seemed fresh. Nice and crunchy not waxy. Gonna come back to try one of MANY flavors of hard ice cream (BeTwixed & Coffee Fudge caught my eye), hopefully eat crow, and take back this mediocre review. In the meantime, I said what I said. read more

Long lines during the summertime always means ice cream session is here and with our first visit to Cliff's for a post dinner treat I can fully embrace this delicious time of year! Grabbed some green tea ice cream, mint oreo, coconut mound and your tried and true chocolate brownie. Each were sweet and delicious! The service was pretty quick with the team taking care of multiple orders in their five or six windows open ready to serve an ice cold treat either hard or soft serve along with sorbet too. read more

Hands down, my favorite ice cream spot! The ice cream is delicious, and the atmosphere is always lively. However, it does get busy, so be prepared to wait. I think they could improve the flow of the lines; it can be confusing with multiple lanes moving at different speeds. A single, snaking line might work better, allowing everyone to order at one window. If they had a dedicated person taking orders while the rest of the staff prepares them, it could streamline the experience. Overall, still a must-visit for ice cream lovers! read more

Cliff's Homemade Ice Cream shop is such a blast from the past - Ice cream shops like this are really hard to find IMO. It's take out only with a huge parking lot for folks to hang around and munch through their ice cream. Their selection of flavors is far from basic, black raspberry soft serve anybody? Why is that flavor not more common, it was absolutely delicious and I wish I could get access to it more frequently. Unfortunately for me I found Cliff's on a mini road trip, hopefully our paths will cross again! read more

PROS: the ice cream was great tasting and it was priced well. The flavors are plentiful and they make it fast CONS: they only have outside seating making it weather dependent. The staff is also a bit "cold". They're attitude is as if they don't want to be there. There's also no bathroom anywhere OVERALL: i would come back to this place since the ice cream is good. But I think I'll just takeout instead of "chilling" there read more

I thought it was good but would want to return and try another flavor. I got butter pecan and the pecans were huge and raw. They should have done smaller ones and if they were sugared or candied it would have taken it next level. I think they have the line set up good so you can get in any line and they move fast. I would come back and try another flavor read more

Well if you're in business for 46 years, you must be doing something right. Cliff's Homemade Ice Cream in Ledgewood knows how to make ice cream! I first visited Cliff's in the early '90's and not much has changed. They may have more flavors now, but the feel of visiting a classic ice cream stand is still there. My favorite is the black raspberry cone, always a winner! If you're in Ledgewood, and want to step back in time, drive to Cliff's and indulge! read more

Horrible ice cream!! The first time we went we did not like it. So we wanted to give it one more try. That was a mistake. I got the Chocolate Gusher. The chocolate ice cream was so light it didn't even taste like chocolate. My husband got Pistachio and he said it tasted stale and had no flavor. I love ice cream but I definitely do not recommend this place. They barely give you any ice cream. Maybe I was better off!! read more

This is probably one of my most polarizing reviews for me... Food: the ice cream was INCREDIBLE. I personally got a scoop of Bavarian Cream Raspberry Truffle and a scoop of Birthday Cake (regular size) and my wife got the mint soft serve with Oreo crunchies. Aesthetic: cute little shop along 46, definitely that old outdoor parlor feel. Service: really nice girls working at the front, super polite. The reason for me that this gets four instead of five stars is the price point. $12 for a regular and a small is insane to me. Definitely something I'll relook at again, but for now that's a little too expensive. read more

If you are looking to support a small business while enjoying a cup or cone of the best homemade ice-cream you've ever had, you need to make you way to this old school icecream "shack." Off a main road, it's hard the miss the line of locals and people who saw the large home made ice-cream sign that houses this long term institution. There are a ton of super fun flavors as well as all of the classics you would look for if you have a go-to flavor. Not only is there hard icecream, there's soft serve, ice cream cakes, sundaes, and whatever else your heart desires. The people serving your icecream and handling your money all wear masks and expect you to do the same while waiting in line 6 feet apart. I had a sugar cone of rum raisin and the ice-cream was perfectly churned and creamy and wasn't overly sweet. It's really uncommon for me to say this as I eat a ton of ice-cream both in large and smaller produced batch but this might have been the best ice-cream in terms of flavor and consistency I ever had. I highly recommend making the drive to this ice-cream shack especially if you are looking to get out of the house and take a drive during COVID. read more

I am an ice cream lover and it really does not get much better than Cliff's. Whenever I am in the area, Cliff's is one of my first stops! So many flavor options can make the decision stressful, but you really cannot go wrong with whatever you pick. The Fluffernutter is one of the best scoops of ice cream I have ever had, with subtle peanut butter and marshmallow swirls -- I could eat an entire tub! Double dark chocolate fudge crunch is another favorite, and their soft serve is incredible. Do not expect to leave here paying less than $5 or $6 for one scoop, but it is worth every penny. read more

Best ice cream around!! Lots of flavors and open year round. The lines move pretty quick so don't let that turn you away

My wife recommended we stop here - she's the ice cream girl! It's a bit of a drive for us but they have a flavor she loves - double chocolate, fudge crunch - is what she calls it. She gets it every time and raves. Me, I'm a basic chocolate guy and theirs is pretty good. The lines can be long but they have lots of windows to service the crowd. On a busy night, parking can be a challenge (the lot goes back pretty far so don't give up). I have not found a bathroom so use the facilities at home before making a visit. Exiting the lot right onto 46 West can be a challenge so look sharp. This is a popular local find, been around for many years and has lots of fans so I can't throw shade with only three visits. However, I think Denville Dairy is at least as good, and may be better. But they don't have my wife's favorite flavor so Cliff's will still be on the list for ice cream night. Recommended read more
